Don't Waste Your Time or Money Here 9/22/2006

My Husband and I had dinner here and it turned out to be VERY disappointing. We ordered the Big Night Out the cheese fondue was OK but the main course was awful. The one good thing about our meal was the dessert. I did like the idea of courses too bad it turned out to taste so bad. Pros: Ambience Cons: Food more

Horrible experience 9/18/2006

The service was okay at first... but then after the apetizers came out, the server completely disappeared. Yes they had their busboys refill our drinks, but it was an hour after we ordered our food already and the entree and the waiter still hadn't shown up. I mean c'mon, HOW HARD IS IT TO THROW RAW FOOD ON A PLATE?? we were there from like 7:30 - 11:30... and it was not our fault. The manager had a cocky attitude, they don't know how to apologize. And the tuna was NASTY. it was nothing special. more

don't be fooled by the decor 9/16/2006

This restaurant is almost below average. The food is expensive and do not taste good at all. The food is not worthy of the money you will spend. We went out as a group of 5 and it cost us $50 per person and we are not even FULL. C'mon, you can get a big juicy piece of steak with that $50. And did I mention how long it took for our waiter to bring our food out? almost 2 hours and they were not even crowded. Go try this restaurant and you will NOT be coming back. more

A dreadful horrible restauraunt 9/9/2006

It is difficult to believe that a restauraunt could fail at making cheese and bread taste good--this place has managed to do it. The boiling pots of are filled with bad cheese that clumps into ponds of goop floating in oil, the bread is stale and tasteless, the meats are grey and the desert is a disaster. How could anyone make cheescake dipped in chocolate taste bad? They do it by substituting the novelty value for good ingredients--skip this place! Pros: I cant think of any Cons: Listed in detail above more

Many choices that feel restricted! 8/24/2006

After feeling pressured to order the, ""Big Night Out"", we broke the rules and tried to order a la cart. If you do that, you'll probably get less food then you're expecting. That itself made our experience mediocre at best. The menu is quite confusing and restricted to choices made for you. However, our Wisconsin Fondue was lovely and the Strawberry Salad packed a lot of flavor. And as far as ""cheese"" is concerned, our waiter's shtick had more of that then our dish. If you plan on visiting this spot, I'd recommed going with a larger party and following the directions/prices on the menu. That may convey a more satisfying dining experience. Pros: Great cheese Cons: Chain resaurant, Mall setting more

Great Place to Relax and Chat with Friends 8/1/2006

Elegant decor & ambiance. Could talk and laugh w/out having to compete with the next table. Booths were nice & private. Loved that we could sit & chat w/out being rushed. A very relaxed atmosphere. Felt like we were at home. Dinner was about 2 1/2 hrs which went by in the blink of an eye.\r \r Staff very friendly & attentive. The only minus is that we heard the same push to order ""the big night out"" from every server w/in earshot. We ordered it since it was our first time there, but next time we'll just go for the cheese and dessert fondues. A must try is the Yin & Yang Martini - YUMMY!!!\r \r This restraunt is not cheap, but not expensive either. Worth the time & money! We had a great time and would definitely come back!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!\r \r Note: Dismiss Keila310's review of this restraunt- as you can tell from her other reviews, she is not easy to please and I would hate for anyone to miss out on such a great experience. Pros: Ambience, Service, Can be Romantic but also great for groups Cons: The push on the "big night out" meal more

A Terrific Experiance--Yum Yum 6/16/2006

Our family is scattered in the four counties, so several times a year we meet, eat and catch-up. Recently we met at the Melting Pot in Pasadena. Most restaurants want to turn over the table after an hour or so and we always feel pressured to cut our visit short or be rude and keep the table. Not at the Melting Pot. It takes about 2-1/2 hours to eat. Which is perfect for our family, we like to talk and have fun. The designers were really smart, not only is the decor elegant, the noise level is low. We could actually hear each other without shouting. Our large round high back booth felt very private. We dipped, cooked, munched and talked to an endless procession of great food. Our server was friendly, attentive without being intrusive and knowledgeable which is important given the wide variety of food and flavor choices. We ordered the Big Night Out. WOW. This is definitely not your parents fondue. No Avocado green or orange fondue pots, stinky sterno or rancid oil here. Our four course meal had an absolutely wonderful variety of food, starting with Spinach and Artichoke Cheese fondue followed by a choice of fresh salad. The main course was a tray filled with lobster tail, filet, Ahi, steak, chicken, endless vegetables, pot stickers, ravioli and homemade dipping sauces. Just when our tummies were feeling pretty good, bango out comes this amazing Rocky Road Chocolate fondue, with big fresh strawberries, an assortment of bite size pieces of cake and our chocoholic taste buds were in seventh heaven. We had a fabulous experience. I hardily recommend The Melting Pot Pasadena when you want to mix good company with great food. Pros: Quiet romantic decor, friendly helpful staff, easy parking more

I LOVE THE MELTING POT!!!! 6/8/2006

I hadn't heard of fondue, let alone the Melting Pot, but while walking along on Colorado Blvd with my date, we decided to try it. When we went up the escalator to the restaurant, I knew something special was ahead. From the elegant decor, to the jazz music in the bathroom, to the wonderful smells and tastes, it was, in a word, incredible. The melting cheese and the warm savory chocolate was outstanding. The waiter was lively and fun and the atmosphere was romantic. I really enjoyed my experience there, as did my girlfriend...lets just say I scored alot of points with her. Pros: Ambience, bathroom, romantic more

Great atmosphere and desert to die for!!!! 6/8/2006

Best food and value for the money 6/8/2006

Seated at a window-side table in an elegant setting and perched above Colorado Blvd. in Old Pasadena, we had a wonderful dining experience recently.\r \r Subdued lighting and a well-designed dining area created a relaxing and private ambiance. Indeed, although this restaurant was nearly filled to capacity, we felt we were at a private party for four persons. Our server was cheerful, and explained the menu items. \r \r The unique cheese, bread, fruit, vegetable, fish and meat fondue items we ordered were delicious. The wine list was enormous. We laughed throughout dinner, as we dipped and cooked our fondue items. Our server was always nearby to replenish many of the fondue ingredients. We capped off our dining experience by ordering several absolutely delicious desserts! We received great value for our money, and will recommend this restaurant to our friends\r more
