I LOVE the food at the MP and have had many wonderful, romantic, fun meals there, however I have noticed on my last couple of visits that the service has declined and the portions seem to have gotten alot smaller, especially on the chocolate course. The thing that really gripes me though is that they do seem to have an arrogance that is really not warranted and is quite a turnoff as a customer. On one recent trip, I took my son and his girlfriend to dinner after prom and upon seating us, we were told that adults with prom students weren't allowed to order alcoholic beverages in fear that they would pass the beverages to the kids. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of! So, let me get this straight, I can walk in with the same kids when they are NOT DRESSED IN PROM CLOTHES and they will serve me a glass of wine, but because the kids are in prom clothes, they won't serve me?? SERIOUSLY?? As a parent, I appreciate the their concern, but it's MY JOB to make sure my kids aren't drinking, that is not the responsibility of the MP. I can handle that job on prom night and every other night. Furthermore, when that sort of restriction is in place, it is MP's responsibility to notify customers of such at the time they make their reservation...not as they are being seated. I know it's not the end of the world to not have a drink with dinner, but I personally considering it part of the overall experience to have a glass of wine when I am having $200+ meal. Besides, parents who would pass their kids a drink across the dinner table would be the same ones to give it to them in the car or at any time. The folks at MP are foolish to think they can make a difference in that regard. I was later told they also prohibited smokers from smoking with kids at the table (when they allowed smoking). I'm not a smoker, but PLEASE...get over yourselves!
Pros: Fantastic food, fun experience
Cons: Getting a bit haughty aren't we??
