Stay away for your own safety! 11/13/2011

The food was good and the employees were very professional. I was harraased for the second time by two different homeless men, two years apart. It is not safe when the dirty homeless get violent because you refuse to give them money! I ran into my vehicle and left!Melting Pot doesn't allow legal gun permit holders to carry handguns into their restaurant because they want you to get robbed when you get out! I won't go back until they change their policy! more

Excellent Food and Great for Special occasions 5/23/2011

We reserved a spot for our Anniversery, and are so very glad we did. The place is great and everyone needs to do it atleast once. Yes it can be expensive but truly worth the price for a memory you will never forget. It is romantic, Staff is helpful, Food is great and it sets the stage for a romantic evening. Thank You Melting Pot! more

Wonderful Experience 5/9/2010

We arrived at 6:30 and had drinks at the bar til our table was ready. Table was ready within 20 minutes and we were seated. The food was excellent but expensive. We enjoyed a wonderful evening with another couple. We had plenty of chat time between courses. Awesome desert. A great place for a special occasion. Pros: Excellent Food Cons: High Price more

Great atmosphere, $120 bill for 2 and left hungry 10/27/2009

They've got the romantic end of it locked up. Its a beautiful room, with the tables very privately situated so as to minimize the other guests in view. Doing fondue is a neat way to make an evening special; its fun to cook at the table. That being said, after a 3 course meal and a couple of drinks, leaving the restaurant, we were both hungry already! Our bill was $120 for both of us and while we had fun with the food, the portions were like something off a kid's menu. Some in our office have mentioned doing a group at the Melting Pot, but I've had to vote no because of the value. Highway Robbery or Enron are terms that come to mind. My advice is, eat anywhere on 2nd Avenue, then go there for their desserts, which I think is only like $25 per person. Pros: Very romantic, enjoyed the fondue, unique dining Cons: WAY overpriced, under portioned more

EXCELLENT 10/26/2008

I HAVE NEVER BEEN AT A MORE AMAZING RESTURANT...IT WAS REALLY NICE. I TOOK MY HUSBAND OUT FOR HIS BIRTHDAY...HE WAS SO SURPRISED WHEN I MADE THE RESERVATION. I TOLD THEM AND I GOT A CHOICE TO GET SOMETHING SPECIAL ON THE TABLE. I PUT SOME ROSES WITH A VASE AND A CARD ON THE TABLE...IT ALSO HAD A PICTURE INCLUDED OF US AT DINNER WHICH THEY ALSO PUT IT IN A PRETTY FRAME. THE MEAL WAS DELICIOUS...HAVENT DONE ANYTHING LIKE THAT...IT TOOK ABOUT 2HOURS FOR THE DINING EXPERIENCE AND WE ENJOYED. OUR WATRIESS KATHERINE WAS GREAT....YOU WERE NOT RUSHED.....THEY HAD A WONDERFUL COBB SALAD AS WELL...MY HUSBNAD DONT EAT SALAD AND HE ATE ONE THERE....WHOO HOO I LOVED IT Pros: THE FONDUE WAS DELICIOUS....I LOVED EVERYTHING more

Best service and food in Nashville, TN 6/30/2008

This was the most romantic place me and my wife has ever ate. I found was very good. You are not rushed, you take your time and enjoy yourself. Service was very nice from the front door to our waiter. This is a place to go every time you need a weekend with your signifacant other. I'd give it more stars if I could. Pros: Service, romantic/special occasion dining more

AWFUL SERVICE... 3/29/2008

I have been going for at least the past 10 years for special occasions; however, this past Valentine's Day was so awful I will never go back to this overpriced restaurant. Our server, David, talked down to us the entire evening and answered any questions we had in a condescending attitude. He really made our entire experience awful with his uppity tone. I have no idea why, especially in his positon as a server, he thought was better than me and my date. Furthermore, they had a high grautity added on which he absolutely did not deserve. I have called the district manager twice and have been ignored which aggravates me to the point that I will not go back and will encourage others to avoid the location. There are plenty better restaurants with respectful, nice servers. STAY AWAY!! Pros: Chocolate fondue Cons: Service, cost more

Expensive, but a novel idea 7/31/2007

I went to this restaurant a couple of nights ago. I thought the food was good, but it didn't wow me at all. I thought the cheese and chocolate fondues were good and the meat was just ok. It's such a novel idea to cook your own food in this way but, honestly, I'd rather spend the money at a restaurant where the food is better. Our bill came to just under $100 (2 people). The service was excellent- the manager came over a couple of times to see how we were doing and asked if everything was ok. Our waitress was also excellent. It was a fun experience but overpriced. I'd recommend buying your own fondue set at Target and trying to replicate this experience at home. more

LOOOOVE the Food, Not Always Impressed with the Service 6/28/2007

I LOVE the food at the MP and have had many wonderful, romantic, fun meals there, however I have noticed on my last couple of visits that the service has declined and the portions seem to have gotten alot smaller, especially on the chocolate course. The thing that really gripes me though is that they do seem to have an arrogance that is really not warranted and is quite a turnoff as a customer. On one recent trip, I took my son and his girlfriend to dinner after prom and upon seating us, we were told that adults with prom students weren't allowed to order alcoholic beverages in fear that they would pass the beverages to the kids. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of! So, let me get this straight, I can walk in with the same kids when they are NOT DRESSED IN PROM CLOTHES and they will serve me a glass of wine, but because the kids are in prom clothes, they won't serve me?? SERIOUSLY?? As a parent, I appreciate the their concern, but it's MY JOB to make sure my kids aren't drinking, that is not the responsibility of the MP. I can handle that job on prom night and every other night. Furthermore, when that sort of restriction is in place, it is MP's responsibility to notify customers of such at the time they make their reservation...not as they are being seated. I know it's not the end of the world to not have a drink with dinner, but I personally considering it part of the overall experience to have a glass of wine when I am having $200+ meal. Besides, parents who would pass their kids a drink across the dinner table would be the same ones to give it to them in the car or at any time. The folks at MP are foolish to think they can make a difference in that regard. I was later told they also prohibited smokers from smoking with kids at the table (when they allowed smoking). I'm not a smoker, but PLEASE...get over yourselves! Pros: Fantastic food, fun experience Cons: Getting a bit haughty aren't we?? more

Great Service - Great Experience! 4/14/2007

My wife has been begging me for years to take her to the MeltingPot. I finally broke down and made reservations for our anniversary. I thought who wants to cook thier own food at an expensive restaurant. Well was I wrong. The host offered to have a rose arrangement waiting for my wife at the table. She insisted that I think of something nice and lasting to say to my wife and then had a custom printed card waiting along with the roses. Everything could have been horrible after that and my wife wouldn't have cared. She was blown away when she saw them. Robin was our server and he took great care of us. We spent a leisurely 2 hours enjoying each other and savoring each bite. The servers actually prepare the cheese fondue course in front of you and we had a good time cooking the entree. We were full by the time our chocolate fondue and dippers arrived but managed to feed each other a couple of dark chocolate dipped strawberries. We'll be back even though it was a little expensive, but the time we spent there was well worth it. Pros: takes reservations, has flower arrangements available Cons: need reservations, valet not available more

Arrogant staff 12/26/2006

Remarkably arrogant wait staff appears to believe this restaurant is on par with Per Se and Aureole, but the food and service have much more in common with Denny's. Pros: Leaving Cons: Food, service more

Romantic! 8/16/2006

My husband and I went to the Meltingpot for dessert after a evening in downtown Nashville. The Chocolate Fondu is amazing and they bring all the dessert items for dipping that you want. Dessert for two was $15 and totally worth it. We were stuffed. Dinner looked pricey but smelled amazing. If you don't want to spend the cash for dinner, eat across the street at Ichiban (sushi) then cross over for dessert! more

Great for Tourists 7/31/2006

Yuck... overpriced and who the heck wants to pay this kind of money and have to do so much work in preparing your own food? As a local, won't be back... but I'm sure it would be of interest to people from small towns who are visiting Nashville Pros: A unique experience for some Cons: Pricey, too touristy and trendy more

1st time and Id go again! 4/13/2006

We went for my birthday. The service was ok even though I do have to say the manager was more on top of trying to make sure we had everything than the server that we had. I tired the seafood trio with and califoria salad had their tradiontal swiss cheese fondue and it was a lil stout. but i highly recommend dessert or a salad b/c mine was the greatest. For dessert we tired the orginal which tasted like a reese cup and i suggest ordering extra marshmallows the oreo covered are the best & extra brownies. more

Pointers from a long time customer 12/1/2005

First of all, make reservations! This should be done preferably a few days to a few weeks in advance. Second, leave the kids at home. Third, come hungry and get the four course meal. In the long run it is well worth it. Expect to be there roughly 2 hours. This means come with someone you enjoy talking to. Don't be put off by cooking your own food. It is quite fun. However the servers do prepare the cheese and chocolate courses and the presentation is well worth the 18 to 20% gratuity. Keep in mind as well that a dress code of no hats is enforced. I believe this is a recent development. The atmosphere is a little tacky but the service and good food more than make up for it. Pros: great food, top notch service, excellent wine list Cons: poor music choices, poor decor, a little pricey more

User review by scrappyred 11/6/2005

This past weekend was my first visit to The Melting Pot and I have to admit that I was a little put off by the previous review. After going, I was glad that I had given it a chance. I found the atmosphere to be very relaxing. All of the staff that we came in contact with were very friendly, hats off to all who were on-duty! This may not be a place that you go every week because it is a little pricey, but it is an awesome place for special occasions or a once in a while treat. Pros: friendly staff, great food more

Over priced and over rated. 9/16/2005

Melting Pot has a nice gig going -- you cook your own food in a poorly ventilated room, deal with spotty service and get overcharged in the process. The dim lights and tucked away booths make you easier to be ignored by wait staff. And they're extremely conservative with their drink limits. Go for dessert - go for an appetitzer but by all meals don't get suckered in to staying for an entire meal. Pros: its on 2nd ave Cons: poor service, conservative, poor management more

Fun, Romantic, Interactive and Unique 6/14/2005

What a wonderful experience. The food was plentiful and delicious. It's a fun and interactive meal in a cozy, romatic setting. I would not recommend this restaurant for children under 12. It's pricey at 130$ per couple but the staff, food and fun is well worth the money for a special occasion. Make reservations and have plenty of time - you'll be there a couple hours, at least. Tip was added to the check automaticly... they were generous to themselves at a full 20%. I dont know if you can make that a standard 15% or not. There is only 1 fondue pot per table unless you reserve a table that has 2... you must ask. Pros: Fun and Unique, Delicious Food, Private & Romantic Cons: 20% Tip automaticly, added to check , without asking more

Love everything about it... 12/11/2004

The Melting Pot is a great experience. If you let them, the service staff will guide you through your experience so you have little to worry about. This is a fantastic choice if you are willing to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. If you want to take your time, go on a weekday. Don't go in and become angry at the service staff for having to cook your own food, because there is nothing they can do about it. This is NOT a restaurant to bring small children. Great for special occasions, and they'll even help you out with flowers and balloons if you reserve ahead of time! Pros: Service Staff, Chocolate! more

Always a pleasure... 12/4/2004

The Melting Pot in Nashville is by far one of Nashville's best treasures... I have dined there several times and never get tired of the atmosphere as well as the food... the waiters are highly knowledgable, as well as friendly, and prompt... I have NEVER had a bad experience at this restaurant... also their special dinner nights such as Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve are phenomenal... Pros: private, romantic, tasty Cons: , parking more
