Cool aquarium 2/27/2006

The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is a great place to go for those of you who love the ocean. They have interesting exhibits, where it is easy to see the creatures on display. We loved seeing the octopus up close! They also have a room where you can watch the sharks swimming by, and they have a short lecture. This aquarium was definitely a hit! more

Maritime Center Aquarium 12/31/2005

A less known cool event offering at the Maritime is the “Overnights – Sleep With The Fishes” program. A Maritime Aquarium Overnight includes a check-in at 6:15 pm and dinner, a guided tour of the Aquarium, relay games, snacks and a craft activity. Go to bed at 11:15. Breakfast the next morning is at 7:30, after that is a private seal feeding and a movie on their IMAX screen. Gift shop stop at 9:30 am, and kids go home at 10 am. Every child gets a customized patch. Cost: $52.50 per kid. more

Goodtime for the kids 12/12/2005

This is a great place to go with the kids for an hour or so every few months. Getting a family membership is a good value. Don't go expecting large and dramatic exhibits (although they often have new visiting exhibits that we have found worthwhile) , but kids under 10 will certainly have fun with what they will find here. My two kids have really enjoyed their time spent here.....Petting rays, touching sea stars, watching the seals swim, seeing the sharks swim around, etc. And the IMAX movies are usually worth seeing. My wife has also taken the kids and their friends on the boat ride out to Sheffield Island in the summer and she highly recommends it. more

Boring!!! 11/13/2005

We decided to go to this aquarium with our daughter during a rainy summer day. Unfortunately we should have just stayed home! The exhibits were practically nonexistant, with the highlights being the feeding of one lone sea lion and petting the sting rays. The rest of the small aquarium was practically empty, but since these two exhibits were the "highlights" they were packed and we eventually gave up on seeing anything and left. Will not be returning. more

Fun for the whole family 10/1/2005

The Maritime Aquarium is a great place to spend the day, especially if you have children. There are dinosaur exhibits, an IMAX theater with varying shows, special events and so much more. Whether you want to see small marine creatures like starfish and sea horses, or if you are in the mood for something a bit bigger (sharks, bluefish, rays) this aquarium as something for everyone. They also have a jellyfish encounter for those who'd like some hands on interaction with the marine life. Great fun! more

Local aquarium, convenience and education. 8/16/2005

The maritime aquarium and the mystic aquarium are almost the same. I think i like the maritime a little more just because it has more small tanks and exhibits rather than a few large flashy ones. They also have a section on ship building and connecticut whaling and fishing history that some might find interesting. more
