An honest review..
The Linc Apartments are brand new luxury 1 and 2 bedroom homes, which are currently offered at a fantastic rate. I am pleased with the few months I have lived here, yet I find have myself frustrated with numerous small problematic issues, some which could have been avoided if the leasing office had been upfront prior to move-in. Before discussing specifics though, let me make it clear, the Kettler leasing staff is extremely friendly and always greet me with a smiling face. I simply believe they are just understaffed or not trained with the knowledge or ability to efficiently run the complex, while maintaining resident satisfaction.
First, each apartment is equipped with large and beautiful windows of which the staff tells interested applicants are soundproof and energy efficient. Both are false, as all windows in my apartment (also confirmed by other residents that they have the same problem) have drafts and are far from soundproof. The constant cold drafts are absolutely ridiculous, especially when this is a brand new complex. One is also told the residences are extra soundproof between floors and next door neighbors due to originally being built as condos. I have found this to be a slight exaggeration, as the noise from others is no different than any other community I lived in.
Next, prior to choosing the complex, I was led to believe the building was FIOS ready for tv and internet. The staff failed to specify only FIOS internet and phone was available, due to unknown jurisdiction complications between Verizon and Comcast. In order to get tv service, one must use Direct TV or Comcast. But, only one side of the building is able to receive Direct TV. But, if you chose Comcast, you aren?t able to get phone through them because Verizon possesses those rights, therefore you aren?t able to get the triple play, which is the most cost effective option. This petty issue would have not swayed me one way or the other, I just wish I had been informed regarding which services were offered by each company, instead of wasting hours on the phone with each trying to figure it all out.
The maintenance at the Linc is operated by one man, Orlando, who is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Yet, one must put in multiple requests to management staff in order to get anything fixed. I am not sure if this is because he is understaffed or if the staff just forgets to tell him. Along the same issue, if you have a pet, be careful. Many residents do not pick up their pet?s waste, leaving it on the sidewalks and throughout the courtyard areas. Let?s hope all the pets are up-to-date with shots, or the complex may experience an outbreak of sick animals (multiple diseases can be passed and will affect both humans and animals, especially parasites that are passed through feces).
Finally and maybe most importantly, last week there was a water pipe eruption that affected numerous apartments. Upon returning from work that evening, the parking garage was wet and the water in my apartment had been shut off. Of course the termination of water flow is fine, but I was frustrated that I had not been informed about what was going on. Timely communication of the disastrous event was clearly not up to par, as I did not receive any information until 11:00 pm when I found a posted memo in the elevator. Why did they not inform residents as soon as possible and slip the information underneath my door? Thankfully I was not affected by the ?flood,? but am apprehensive because I never received any further information of what caused it and how the building is making steps to ensure it won?t ever happen again.
In conclusion, The Linc Apartments are nice and affordable. I have enjoyed living here thus far, but am frustrated by the above oversights. I am apprehensive of my remaining time here and will be reconsidering living here next fall upon renewal if things are not improved.
