Editorial review from Citysearch 7/15/2013

In my life I have never experienced a corporation so damn incompetent to hire employees who know everything about absolutely NOTHING. These dunderheads processed an order for a 950.00 grill that I had purchased and it took 45 minutes alone to ring up.\r \r I seen all the employees running around like ants over a crust of bread. Nobody knowing parts numbers, item stats or their left shoe from their right, how to ring a debit card, etc....\r \r This store is dis-organized, employees cant speak English - and the management clueless. VENDORS TAKE NOTE - they will only drive customers to purchase at LOWES.\r \r In short, I am appalled that this corporation is so in the dark about the quality and qualifications of their employee appearance and regard.\r \r Better luck hiring all the 400 illegal immigrants that are blocking the entrance way of your repulsive place of business.\r \r I will NEVER shop here again. more

Home Depot average 5/1/2013

It's Home Depot so not sure what everyone expects. Large aisles, not so wonderful service. more

The Worst 3/21/2012

The employees are poorly trained. The supervisors are poorly trained. In short, poor service (if at all). I had to beg for help. BUT, thank God that such a large store exists. There's always a trade-off. more

Typical big store that does not care about customers 8/3/2011

Really? I feel like I was transported to a far away planet where people do not need to work for a living and everything moves in sllloooooooow motion. This is a giant store, why do they have so many registers with so few people working? There were three checkouts and one self-service check out working when I was there last Thursday. Ok, here is the bitch.. where is the manager? The line for each of these registers was at least 8 people long.. and the self-service checkout had two registers that were out of order so only two registers were working in the self-service area. I was pretty aggravated, so I was most likely hyper sensitive to the fact that there were three people joking around by the front door wearing Home Depot apparel more

Home Depot 7/15/2010

I was walking around with my head cut off trying to find someone that could help me. Finally i just left. Cons: Bad Service more

ignores people who need keys. 9/14/2009

I went in to get a key made, and was sent to the key section of the store to wait for the ONE GUY who knew how to make keys. Already waiting there was an elderly gentleman. We waited there 20 minutes, we asked 3 different employees if they could make our keys or if they knew where the ""key guy"" was. We were told to continue to wait (of course), then one person said the key guy went on lunch break, and finally an employee told us home depot doesn't make keys anymore. So we walked across the street to OSH and had our keys made there, within a couple minutes of entering the premises. Clearly home depot does not value appropriate staffing, training or employee compensation. IT IS WORTH IT TO SPEND A LITTLE MORE MONEY TO GET DECENT SERVICE. Pros: location Cons: grossly understaffed/undertrained. more

Why so many complaints? 6/13/2009

Ive always had decent service, the tattooed guy with glasses rocks. when i punched a hole in the wall he knew exactly what i needed to fix it. As a society we are so spoiled these people bitching need a reality check...and to the guy who would rather, get this, DRIVE TO BURBANK, instead of going here....get a hold of yourself man, that lowes is overpriced and 30 mins on a good day away from hollywood...jezzuz... Pros: Huge selection, late hours, in the middle of hollywood! Cons: when a store is this big, its tough to manage more

Dirty, poorly stocked, and awful customer service 6/8/2009

Home Depot on Sunset must rank as one of the worst stores in the country. The parking lot is too small and awkward. The store itself is dirty and tired, and badly stocked. To make the shopping experience even worse is the exceptionally bad level of customer service. If you can avoid this store, rather go to Lowes in the Valley. more

Worst Home Depot 12/4/2008

Poor service with the employees. When ask to talk to a manager and/or a supervisor the woman who came to help me was the garden supervisor she gave me an attitude and pointed me in the opposite direction and i walked around the store two times in my crutches. I think the present supervisor shoul be teminated. I will not return to the Hollywood Home Depot. more

avoid always if possible 3/13/2007

I can just about agree with every other review on this site. This place is an absolute zoo and the staff is about as rude as they come. Working in my field, we are frequent buyers from this crazy home improvement nuthouse. Last time I sent my plumber there to pick up supplies he said a fight broke out between two guys near the food court and another over a parking spot. Not to mention the phone mannerisms of the employees. I once went to place an order via phone and the women taking it said she couldn't complete my order because she only had five minutes left until her shift was over and I would have to call back the next day. ???? what is going on with the world? This is aside from being hung up on or transfered constantly before I finally speak to a live person longer than 2 seconds. I suggest shopping at your own risk and avoid this crazy loonybin if possible! Pros: open all the time Cons: the staff and prices more

Home Depot is a NIGHTMARE 11/29/2006

Home Depot in Hollywood should be your very last resort. If you need plant and garden supplies, paints and any other general household item go across the street to OSH. The staff there is knowledgable, friendly and very willing to assist your needs. Pros: if you're desparate for lumber they have Cons: rude and indifferent staff and never custom order anything - delivery is a nightmare more

Don't bother 7/10/2005

Everything about this Home Depot is a pain. Parking takes forever. Good luck if you need a cart. Even more luck if you need an employee. I live right down the street and would rather spend my time driving to the Lowe's in Burbank than to put up with one more minute in the Home Depot Sunset. more

Editorial review from Insider Pages 2/7/2005

I'm here so often, the guys who work in the aisle are starting to recognize me. This Home Depot is not the best. The knowledgable staff help is really hard to find. They are really in the aisle they are assigned to and can usually be found a few rows off, helping some clueless homeowner figure out which washer needs to go with which bolt on his or her bathroom sink. Merchandise tends to be strewn about and the check out lines are huge. Fortunately, they installed those self-serve check out, scan yourown lines so that's relieved some of the pressure. But don't expect this Home Depot to be as clean or friendly as the one in the burbs near you. This is LA baby. Dirty and real. more

24 hours of power tools 6/12/2002

Where else can you go and buy power tools at 3am? Go in the middle of the night just to check out the, uh, interesting people staring the huge sections of everything you can imagine using for repairing, fixing or building anything on your home The staff is always very helpful and, at least compared to me, very knowledgeable about the stuff the sell, where it is located in the store and how it's supposed to be used. Maybe it's because I usually go at odd hours when they are not so busy. They have a pretty good selection of plants and herbs and whatnot. more

Big and Nutty 6/4/2002

If you live in the suburbs, you know what Home Depot is like and what products they stock. This Home Depot is like all the others - maybe a little bigger - and a lot nuttier. And when I say ""nuttier"", I mean that there are lots of characters shopping there. During my last visit, someone was spraying spray paint on the cement floor and sniffing it... I probably wouldn't go there alone after dark. more

One-Stop Shop 5/20/2002

You really can get everything you need for your home and garden at Home Depot. But be sure you know what you're looking for before you go. At this location, on Sunset, there are far too few employees to help answer customer questions, let alone proved in-depth consultation. I purchased some lumber here and had to wait around for 20 minutes to have it cut, and even then, it was done incorrectly in spite of my instructions. The lines tend to be long as well, so if you need to be in and out in a hurry, consider putting off your shopping trip till you have more time. Pros: Great selection, Decent prices Cons: Long lines, Busy parking lot more
