The Game Haven

Game Haven is an awesome retail store that satisfies all your gaming needs. They have the BEST supply of Magic: the Gathering cards in the Dayton area; often I've found Maverick's or Bell Book and Comic will be out of stock but Game Haven will have what I need. The FNM and other Magic tournaments are a lot more relaxed and more casual than at other local places; ie, you won't get yelled at by 35 year old virgin at Bell Book who is upset because he just got beat by a new player.\r \r They also have just started getting into Warhammer and some other miniatures. I'm not really ""into"" that, but the people playing there seem to be having fun.\r \r Game Haven also has a lot of other entertainment stuff like used/new video games, board games, and used DVDs. Prices seem to be a bit lower or on par with other local places and chains such as Gamestop. more

Very rude, like I was taking time out of there day. I am older so I guess I did not fit in there little world. The shop is just plain dreadful and the overall experience is about as pleasant as having an airbag deploy in your face. “Avoid,” is my general message. The Game Haven is a square wheel, a retail store that’s so absurd and so obviously immune to success that it evokes something akin to a sense of pity. more

This is a great place to shop , they carry all kinds of games from NES to current generation game system , they also have table top gaming stuff such as miniatures and D&D books as well as other RPGs & trading card games and to top it off they carry movies as well. I really don't go anywhere else for anymore to pick up things to quell my boredom because they have it all there. On another note the dvds are buy one get one free pretty much all the time which is cool because they have a neat return policy where you can get used stuff and keep it for up to 10 days and then bring it back once no questions asked and get other stuff with the credit then you can have whatever you get for 10 days and when you bring it back you cant swap it again but you can get a refund , which has a restocking fee of 15% but that usually is only a few bucks which is sweet because you can watch 4 movies for 15% of the cost of one. You can do the same thing with used games but the 15% adds up to more there around $8 on a brand new game but its not bad if you get a newer used game play it for 10 days get another newer used game play that for 10 days then bring it back and only lose $8 it was like paying $4 each to rent them. Its also a great place to hang out they have a big room in the store full of tables you can use to play card games or miniature games or whatever , more than a few times I've stopped in and seen a few people hanging out playing Magic popped out to my car grabbed a deck and jumped in on a few games. Over all its a great place to shop they guys that work there give honest opinions on games and cards when you ask and have always been very helpful and fun to chat with. Ive been shopping there for years and will continue to shop there for years to come. 12 days ago my husband and I wanted Subway so we went to the one off airway, which happens to be next door to Game Haven. My husband the nerd he is begged me to go in so we did. \r \r My first reaction was EWW, it smells like stinky boys who'd rather play video games over shower, but then I saw the HUGE selection of DVDS and got over it. \r \r I picked two DVDS and walked to the counter were i heard 3 BOYS (maybe 13-17), including the cashier cuss like sailors. I think i heard the f-bomb atleast 15x in 3 minutes. I said to my husband whatever, they have a big selection of movies so ill endure it.\r \r We get home and I rush to watch this movie I'd been dying to see and low and behold it scratches in the first 15 minutes. We fastforwarded the movie and found the the scratch was soo bad it wouldn't work at all (But, there were no physical scratches on the dvd). We planned to take it back but my lilttle brother has been in the hospital all week so its been a little chaotic. \r \r 11 days later my husband took it back to exchange it and the cashier was evidently veryy rude, bc it takes a lot to make him mad. He said there was only 10 day policy on it and 11 was past it. My husband explained that NO ONE TOLD HIM THAT- probably bc the cashier was too involved in the trashy convo he was having while he was checking us out to pay attention.\r -So the guy offered to clean it for him, so we tried to watch it again and same thing... So i, the wife took measures into my own hands and went down on day 12 to try to work something out.\r \r I got there and this time it smelled like feet and humidity- the cashier was rude, the manager was incompetent and rude. Obviously they've never heard the saying ""the customers always right."" I told them both that I wasn't made at them, but that this was wrong that you cant sell DVDS like this and not atleast exchange them. I reminded them that the cashier never told my husband I we had 10 days.\r \r Needless to say, they may have a huge selection of stuff, but that doesnt matter if it doesnt work.. I'll never go back. I suggest you dont either so you dont have to douss yourself in purell and purfeum just to buy a movie or game that does not work.
