Brandy Miller is the best!! I followed her here from another salon. After a childhood marred by bad haircuts by mom's hairdresser, a friend recommended Brandy. She does great work- I usually don't know exactly what I want, but I tell her the requirements (off my neck, layers in front, goes in a ponytail, etc.) and she makes a beautiful style out of it. On the down side, If you aren't clear about what you want, you may not get what you like. She's not a psychic, she's a hairstylist. Discuss with her your needs, and she'll do it. The salon may seem a bit pricey for the area (my haircut is $35, including a wash, cut, blowdry, and style), but in the grand scheme of things, it's a great value for the kind of service she provides- believe me, I moved to Nashville and am struggling to find anyone like her for a price I can afford. She can seem a bit standoffish at first, but that goes away as you get to know her. She's trained (I believe this is right) at a Paul Mitchell salon, and brings great experience from outside East TN. She does great, trendy but not too trendy, work, unlike many run-of-the-mill stylists in East TN, and you know what I mean- those ladies still doing perms and eighties bangs. She's really great for teen girls like me and several of my friends who go to her, but she also does well with middle-aged and I imagine, older women, she's done my mom's hair and one of my mom's friends gets her hair done there regularly, without looking outrageous or too young. Her coloring skills are excellent too. Her hair's different every time I see her, but it always looks good. She also works late on weeknights, except when she's off on Monday. All her services are by appointment. It's important to book a couple of weeks in advance, espeically for a Saturday appointment. I don't have personal experience with the other ladies in the shop, but I've watched them work and their works seems comparable with Brandy's.
Pros: Salon's not fancy but it's clean
Cons: need to book a couple of weeks in advance, may be pricier than you're used to paying but it's worth it
