My friends took me to this cute French Bistro and wine bar, right off of Colorado Blvd. in Old Town...

It's good to see so many glowing reviews of the food at the Crepe Vine - unfortunately I was never given a chance to try it. I went there with some friends after work and the res...

Average Food, Good Wine, Sticky Odor 3/10/2006

The food is like in an average cafe in France, not bad but rather bland. The crepes are not tasty - where is the buckwheat? The cheese fondue is not warm enough, hence the weird texture. On the bright side, the staff is very nice and the wine selection interesting. They remain open and serve food late. Go there for the wine and the cheese plate, but be aware that your clothes will keep a strong odor of food for a while. Pros: wine, friendly staff, open late Cons: odor, average food more

Great night out 3/1/2006

My friends and I had heard a lot about this place and decided to give it a try - i guess we weren't the only ones with this idea. We arrived and the place was packed. The hostess did everything she could to get us a seat at the bar - We had the Lamb Shank and stroganoff crepe which were both heavenly and two glasses of amazing Pinot Noir. The bartender was really knowledgeable and let us taste several of the wines before chosing our favorite I highly recommend this place - just be sure to make reservations on the weekend! Pros: Food, atmosphere, Service Cons: size of restaurant more

Not what we had in mind.... 2/25/2006

The sites made this location sound romantic & authentic. I must say that we were very disappoionted. The service was poor & the food was worse. All non-sweet crepes are made w. buckwheat...eww. We then chose the fondue, however the waiter said they did not have the pieces of the pot to serve the fondue. We had a salad & a soup (french onion) that was served in a bowl so small...4 spoonfulls max. The bread was not fresh & put the frenchness of this restaurant to shame. Authentic french people would "never" serve such bread! The ambience was fine if you like staring at a guy washing (rinsing glasses in water) and drying the glasses all night behind the bar a pleasant sight...perhaps they don't have a dishwasherover? Also, the crepe suzette was horrible & there was not even a dash of grand marnier! Pros: None Cons: Bad Bread, Buckwheat Crepes, Poor wine list more

Waste of a Friday night 2/23/2006

We heard nothing but great things about the crepevine so we decided to go and check it out on Friday night, what a mistake!! We should have left right from the start. The hostess was very rude and our waitress was terrible. We were seated near the door and we asked to move and the hostess gave us a real attitude. When we finally got to our new seat our waitress made us feel like we were an inconvenience to her. I really think the management needs to have a training session with their staff. This was a waste of a Friday night. more

My boyfriend and I brought a friend here to celebrate his birthday and we all agree this place serves savory crepes, the best I've tasted thus so far! We started with escargots which is reasonably priced at $8 and quite delicious! The La Mer crepe was scrumptious! My boyfriend and our friend also raved about Stroganoff as well. For desert, we shared Nutella and Banana crepe a la mode which was mouthwatering! I highly recommend this restuarant... the food is exquisite, the service is great but a bit slow but worth the wait! This is one place we will definitely visit over and over again! more

Great Wine Place!!! 1/29/2006

I've been to The CrepeVine a couple of times now and I think this is the best place to have a glass of wine. They have so many wines by the glass it's crazy! (in mean that in a good way.) They have wines from France, Italy, Spain, Australia, ect. Most restaurants just have wine that you can get in the grocery store, they don't. If you enjoy a good glass of wine check this place out. I think you'll enjoy it. more

The food was scrumptious, and quite a considerable selection even for a vegetarian. We each had a champagne cocktail, and enjoyed them both. Next time we'll try a glass from their extensive wine menu. Highly recommend this charming little place. Pros: Food, Prices Cons: Service more

I don't even know what to say about this place. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The food was to die for. The music did get alittle loud for a very small area but that is the worst think I can say about the whole night. Pros: Great Food, Great Service Cons: Small , Loud Music more

YOU LIVE YOU LEARN...ABOUT BAD FOOD 12/31/2005

adgame Provided by Partner
The food at Crepevine Bistro for lack of a more sophisticated description, is gross. Yes, Gross. Either gooey and rich enough to make you sick, or lacking in taste entirely and taking 35-plus minutes or longer to arrive at your table ! Not a fun new dining experience to say the least. Hey, you live, learn from your mistakes and never repeat them. I want my money back. Cons: FOOD, WAITSTAFF more

This is such a cute little restaurant! Tables are small and you feel a little cramped but you didn't mind it because the crepes were heavenly. But then I went back and both my savory crepe and my dessert crepe were so tough I couldn't cut through them with my knife and I had to opt to tearing them apart just to eat it. I really want to rate this restaurant well since I do enjoy its european-style but I don't see how I can when they are a crepe restaurant that now serves tough crepes. Sorry. Pros: Wine bar, crepes!!, hidden gem Cons: Parking more

CrepeVine is a nightmare. The food was bad. BAD. I do not say that very often about a restaurant, but it applies here. My wife was so put off by her crepe dinner that she insisted we pass on dessert and cut our losses. Would not recommend this establishment to anyone. There is a terrific restaurant, Maison Akira right down the street. Dining out should be pleasurable not annoying and regrettable. Cons: food, service more

My wife and I are so happy to have found this place - its a great new addition to Pasadena - Our server was very knowledgable and friendly and the food was some of the best I have had in the area. They have a few kinks to work out, but I know it won't take much time for this place to become a perfect 10 We will be back again and again Pros: Food, service, atmosphere Cons: parking more

Overall, not a bad place.. 12/23/2005

My wife and I just happened to walk by this place and decided to check it out. The inside is very nice and cozy, the staff was accommodating, and the food was good. The food portions, I think most Americans may have a problem with? We as Americans like "BIG" portions and there's were not so big, don't get me wrong the food was great just a little small for most Americans expectations. Well I guess I can understand why the small portions, in France they too serve "not so big portions." In short, I do agree with most of these user reviews and do recommend this place. more

cute little bistro 12/21/2005

we had lunch here yesterday and had a very nice time. the staff is extremely nice and attentive. we ordered the escargot to start; this was a bit on the bland side and a little cold. next we had the seafood crepes; the crepes were made of buckwheat, which isn't bad, there were tiny shrimp and scallops and thinly cut potatoes inside. for dessert we had the granny smith apple tart with ice cream (very good, but SMALL, not really enough if you just want to share one dessert), and then the paris crepe with nutella inside. everything was good, perhaps we'll come back to try some of the other food soon. the place has a very cute atmosphere inside, but know that the address that's listed here is incorrect. they're actually in an alley a few blocks away off of colorado, so call and ger directions before you go. Pros: attentive service, good food more

My girlfriend & I went to this place over the weekend and I was so pleased with everything. The staff was very nice, the food was great, and the inside was very cute and cozy. We sat at the bar for a bit and had a wonderful conversation with this guy who was an entertainment lawyer. He was very well spoken & intelligent. That usually doesn't happen in most places in Pasadena. This is a great place to take a date or find a mate. I highly recommend this place for any outting. more

A fabulous new addition to Old Pasadena 12/12/2005

From the moment my husband and I walked into the CrepeVine, we knew we were in for a real treat. We were immediately welcomed by a courteous and friendly staff, and since we stopped in for drinks and dessert, we sat at the bar. There were lots of parties surrounding us, which added to the festive atmosphere, and we loved the bistros elegance, charm, coziness and unpretentiousness. The wine list offered so many wonderful choices and we were also impressed with the international beers on tap. We ordered the escargot, which was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the cinnamon crepe we ordered was just right -- not overly seasoned. Every page of the menu enticed us, and we cant wait to go back to try everything! Pros: friendly staff, tasty food, cozy setting more

Finally, French in Old Town 12/12/2005

My wife and I recently dropped in on this new restaurant and was more than surprised. For starters, the wine menu by the glass is as good as you'll find anywhere. A crowded evening meant we were seated at the bar, which is a fabulous place to take in the restaurant and its electic mix of patrons. A warm and comfortable atmosphere, very friendly and knowledgable staff, delicious crepes and cheese, and incredible wine made this a place I know we'll return to again and again. Pros: Wine list, Desserts, Unique to Old Town more
