Classic Durham Hotspot 4/11/2006

Cosmic Cantina is a classic hotspot of Durham. Cosmic is located in the second story of a building off of 9th street. It might be hard to find, but once you discover it you will be back time and again. The actual building is pretty run down, but the food more than makes up for the interior. I recommend the burritos, they are the best around! Also there salsa is excellent, thick and chunky and homemade! It is also very reasonably priced, $5 for a regular sized burrito, with a side of chips and salsa. The mini burrito is $3 and is the perfect amount for most females (you will be full, but not stuffed to the brim). more

Unremarkable Mexican 4/9/2006

I know, I know, some people love Cosmic Cantina, but to me the food is sub-par. The first few times I ate here I thought it was good, but after eating world-class burritos at Carrburritos, Cosmic can't compare. The burritos are strangely flavorless. The chips and salsa are fine - nothing spectacular. The quesdillas are also unremarkable. I've only eaten at the Durham location, so perhaps the one in Chapel Hill does a better job. more

good but beware of food poisoning 3/17/2006

Cosmic Cantina's burritos are pretty delicious, not to mention that they're a quick and convenient meal. The place is a little dingy, though maybe that's part of the charm. The location is very convenient to Duke's East Campus. However, I do know someone who got food poisoning after eating there (and she was told by Duke's student health center that they'd had a few cases similar to hers), so i haven't been in a while. more

Excellent!! 8/16/2005

Cosmic Cantina is an absolute stable of UNC and Duke students alike, as well as many others from Durham and Chapel Hill. Cosmic is known for eats quick service and cheap and plentiful food. Both locations are ratty on the outside and on the inside, but the food is excellent and the prices are good--plus they're open until 4am. A great place to get a burrito! more
