Great Views! 4/14/2006

This is a perfect park for downtown! The views are magnificient and the fountains are so suited to Charleston. The funniest thing are the signs in front of the fountains. Take the time to read it and you will be guaranteed to laugh. It actually says no nose picking and it says you may not bath in the fountain alone! The swings on the dock are very comfortable and it is so peaceful to sit there and look out on the water. It is the perfect place to find peace and quiet in the city of Charleston! more

One of our favorite places 10/8/2005

This park is amazingly cute! We had seen this gorgeous pineapple fountain on many Charleston brochures and were determined to find it. It is located in this park along with another amazing fountain. These fountains encourage you to step in and cool off, but they aren't dirty and trashy like many city fountains. This park boasts many courtyards with beautiful palm trees and benches for sitting and relaxing in the shade. There is also a large pier which plays host to giant porch swings which you can sit on and swing and enjoy the view of the Cooper River. This park is located right next to the cruise terminal so, if you're lucky, you can watch the cruise ships come and go. This park is a definite must see!! more

Nice stop when you're downtown 9/30/2005

The Charleston Waterfront Park is a pretty new park as far as Charleston goes, and is situated right downtown. You can see the Yorktown, Castle Pinkney, and the new (and old) Cooper River Bridges. There is the huge pineapple fountain (pineapples are a symbol of hospitality) and the main fountain where there are always kids playing. It's okay--let them play there. On the 'boardwalk" there are swings and a large sitting area where you can sit or fish or just look around. The park is very large and has plenty of room for you to find a peaceful spot away from everywhere else. Beware--this is often a stop for school field-trips and pre-and-post Prom, so depending on when you go, you may be the only person there, or the only person over 18 and not wearing formal..... more

Great place to view the Harbor in Charleston 9/11/2005

The Charleston Waterfront park is a unique park on Concord St. downtown. You can sit at the edge of the Harbor (where the Cooper River meets the Ocean) and watch ships pass under the new Ravenel bridge or even spot dolphins in the harbor. It's convenient to the Aquarium and Imax and just a nice place to sit and take a break when visting Charleston. The kids will get a kick out of watching ships go by. more
