the food at the breslin is amazing and restores my faith in hotel restaurants. then again it's what should be expected from the minds that brought you the spotted pig

Housed inside the uber hip Ace Hotel, 3/9/2013

Housed inside the uber hip Ace Hotel, April Bloomfield hits it out if the park again at this meat-centric gastro pub. The lamb burger here rules. Wash it down with a pilsner on tap. more

MeatFest 2010 2/12/2010

Popped in here for lunch and it was well worth the wait. Enjoyed a cocktail from the bar at one of their communal tables. Nice crowd, good looking staff. Started with caramel popcorn which sounds pretty run of the mill but was actually a great start to our meal. I walked around with the ""Hi, My name is caramel popcorn"" that comes sealed on the bag because, come on- who can resist that as a name tag for your dining companion. I had the lamb burger which was out of this world and my friend had a plate of meat which was slightly overwhelming but delish. The group next to us had these grilled cheese sandwiches that gave me total food envy despite being in love with my own plate. We skipped out on dessert, but the eye candy in the Ace Hotel was satisfying enough. Will definitely be back. April Bloomfield is a godsend to carnivores! Pros: drinks, lamb burger Cons: long waits more

best breakfast ever! 1/2/2010

Out-of-this world delicious. I had the spicy lentils with eggs, which was a strange but wonderful breakfast combo. Pastries had a faint ginger zing, but was actually cardomon, and the kids loved every bite. Skirt steak with tomatillo sauce over fried eggs was lustily latino. Even the coffee was amazing. Chef went out of his way to make sure we were having a fabulous dining experience. A bargain at twice the price! Pros: original food, beautifully prepared, cordial service, Cons: none that I know of more

worst service i have ever had 12/6/2009

lived in nyc for almost 15 years and have eaten at some of the best (and some of the worst) restaurants and never have i experienced such horrible service as at the breslin. the waitress was literally brain dead, in fact tables were commiserating with each other about trying to get even a glass of water. guess they are relying only on unknowing hotel guests who use the restaurant almost as a cafeteria because no locals will ever go back to a place with such atrocious service. Pros: nice room Cons: horrendous service, subpar food, horrible music more

  • Poignantly located across the street from a forlorn-looking McDonald's, this futuristic fast food experiment is everything that the crusty old diabetes depot isn't, but 4Food may not be ready to take over the fast food world just yet. With five bun types, nine patties, 40 fillings, seven cheeses and more than a dozen condiments, there are 140 million possible burger combinations, yet the most important and fundamental preference--how you'd like your burger cooked--isn't offered. The tech amenities, like the iPad kiosks where you can place your order, are more irritating than efficient (to order through the iPad, you have to sign up for 4Food's social network: No). But 4Food's overall mission is good: It allows customers to make informed choices about what they eat, composts all its waste and claims to buy all produce from local sources, all huge steps in the right direction for fast food. For now, however, McDonald's looks safe, if a little dusty and depressing.
