Birmingham Zoo 1/8/2007

Birmingham Zoo is a nice zoo. It's not overly huge where you can't see everything in one day. Actually, you can probably make it through in just a couple hours-- less if you don't really read everything. There are still going through a little construction, but most of the exhibits are open. The animal encounter is a great way to learn about and see up close different animals. They have a petting zoo and a lot of opportunities to feed animals (25 cents). They have a carousel ($2 per rider) and fountains that the kids love frolicking through. There are also a few areas where you can sit and enjoy a picnic lunch as well as a cafe and a snack bar. Birmingham Zoo is the best! more

Becoming a great zoo 4/8/2006

When I fist visited this zoo about 6 years ago, I didn't find it too impressive. I enjoyed my visit, certainly, but it seemed a little small and without a whole lot of exhibits. It was just the animals. I've been back a few times since then, and I have to say this zoo is changing for the better. They've changed some of the exhibits around so they are more naturalistic and are more exciting. The bird enclosure is absolutely a treat. I don't know if the zoo is any bigger now, but it feels bigger with the changes they have made. more

Butterflies and Baby Zebras 4/8/2006

I bought a family membership to the Birmingham Zoo last year for 80.00. Every weekend I took my daughter to the zoo for an hour on Saturday. We could usually cover about 1/2 of the zoo before she ran out of steam. Her favorite exhibit was the butterfly encounter that opens in 2006 on April 15th. It has over 500 butterflies and we even had one land on us a time or two. more

What a lovely place spend a long afternoon with the family. The petting zoo is clean and offers hand sanitizer for the little ones. The animals appear content with their surroundings. The train ride is so much fun and such a good way to see the entire zoo. I love the monkey exhibit and my kids love to watch the lions and zebras. There is something for everyone, even the alligators are fun to watch. My kids invite their friends and we all make a day of memories each time we visit the Birmingham Zoo. more

I was quite surprised when I went to the zoo about a month ago. It has come a long way since I was child. If you are looking for something different to do in Bham, then the zoo is the place for you! more

The Birmingham Zoo 8/20/2005

The Birmingham Zoo is located in Birmingham AL. When I was younger the Zoo wasn't that great at all but over the past 5 years they have added alot of things and really made it a much nicer place. The addition of the Children's Zoo is wonderful! There's even a place for children to have water play and new shops and snack bar (that offers tons more then they used to). Over all its a wonderful place for the family. more
