Best Pub on the West Coast 7/2/2010

I stumbled upon this pub when I first moved to the area, the staff was extremely friendly and inviting. I tried the food and just about everything I've tried has been delicious. They have live music on most nights which draw a good crowd, especially on the weekends so get thee early! Fun place to go to meet people, and they have a great Happy Hour. Pros: Great Food and Perfect Pints, very Friendly Staff Cons: Gets Crowded, so go early! more

Great for music, Not so good for the after work crowd 7/20/2009

Well, the Dubliner started off to be a GREAT place to go, the food and atmospher was worth the wait but times have changed. Not only is there menu heading torwards the mainstream (doing away with the Yorkshire Pudding and adding Corn Beef Taco's???, oh please), the service just isn't good enough for an ordinary menu. I see how they have just added some new salads, Cobb, Asian Chicken, and Seared Ahi. All these are good salads but hardly works in an Irish pub. Maybe they could consider bringing back the Roast Beef Salad with Horseradish mayo, that was a great salad and fit the theme. Pros: Music Cons: Menu, Service more

Great Time, Every Time! 3/31/2009

I LOVE this place! ...When I need a break from the second street crowd I can always count on the Auld Dubliner for some great live music and a lively crowd! This bar goes off on weekends, so it may take you a minute to get a drink. Be patient, I have never seen these bartenders slacking off if a thirsty customer is in sight. The layout of the bar is great, more than enough room even on the most crowded nights- unless you want a spot on the patio or right next to the bar. Warning to the ladies... You will most likely need to park in the parking structure and walk if you come on a Friday or Saturday night. So don't wear uncomfortable shoes!! Also, this place is super low key, so but don't dress like you're going to a club or you will sick out like a sore thumb. **The door guy will validate your parking!!** Pros: excellent floor plan, great live bands, awesome bartenders Cons: parking =( more

happy hour! 12/19/2008

I love getting my happy hour on over here. The beer on tap is super cheap and the food is great. Great bar! more

Friendly and Fun. 7/27/2008

We had so much fun at this place. We walked in and didnt know anyone and ended up meeting people \r from differnt cities in california and europe. The place did did get packed quite a bit, but the band played music that was fun to dance to, the crowd was great and the bartenders were really nice. Pros: Fun with good people and good music Cons: crowded at times more

Not a club, not a meat market, just the best bar in Long Beach. 8/14/2007

Great whiskey selection and all the right beers served efficiently by friendly bartenders. Impressive live Irish bands on a regular basis. What really makes this place, though, is the atmosphere. It's not pretentious or stuffy at all, and everyone there (beautiful beach bunnies down to aging sailors) just wants to have a good time. The convention center and Hyatt are right there, so you'll often run into interesting people from all over the place. It gets crowded, but the atmosphere is such that usually bumping into people just makes for more interesting conversation. The music's loud enough to dance to (no one looks cool dancing to Irish music, but here, no one cares!), but not so loud that you can't carry a conversation with that cute girl from Texas who's in town for a teacher's convention or that group of soldiers just back from the war. I love this bar. Pros: Excellent atmosphere, great live music, efficient service, and an eclectic crowd. Cons: Not cheap, especially since you usually have to pay for parking at the Pike's lot. LONG wait for restrooms on busy nights. more

Great Live Music on Monday Nights 7/19/2007

We showed up on a monday night and couldn't believe how great the band in the corner was. They play Mandolin and Acoustic guitar and sang everysong we love! It was nice because it wasn't too loud and meant we stayed longer! to the Hempstring Duo-Rock on.\r These guys are there every monday night! Pros: Live music late Cons: We drank too much more

My Home Away From Home 11/3/2006

I love The Dubliner! It is my favorite place to go in Long Beach. All the staff and customers are so friendly. It's the kind of place you can go to by yourself, and leave at the end of the night with many new friends. And the food happens to be delicious as well! On certain nights the place gets quite busy, but you can always find a cozy corner to hang out away from the crowd, or join the locals outside. \r \r In response to a review below, I happen to be an African American female born and raised in Long Beach, and have always been welcomed by the staff and treated with the utmost respect. I find the story below very hard to believe and think that people should get their facts straight before making comments. The bartenders there are great and would never treat a customer unjustly. more

dead during the week, but great thurs-sun 10/27/2006

i love the dub. i had my first drink here. it's on pine, but not on the main drag. it's really an irish pub. the bartender has an accent. i think his parents still live there. they serve food during the day, but i've never been in early enough to go. they have great beers on tap, including my favorites, newcastle and stella. their long beach iced teas are to die for. some thursdays, every friday and saturday they have a live band play. it's really fun and really loud. a good amount of regulars go there. check it out! Pros: ambience is great, authenticity is good Cons: there's no where to park unless you park in the pike's lot more

racism 9/18/2006

I witnessed a unjustent with a bartender and a black customer where she was removed with lack of respect. The bartender took the side of the white girl in a matter which the white girl was wrong about spilling a drink on someone and not apologizing. Thew black girl seemed to just want am apology but instead was singled out immediately and ousted. It was very shocking to me in the city of Long Beach where i believe is very culturally diverse. If your a member of the KKK I'm sure you'll like the place. If your a person of color i wouldnt spend your money there. more

Best atmosphere in the Pike! 8/15/2006

The crowd gets live around 10pm. Only place in the area where the people actually look normal and you can hang with your friends! Live music is the best and you can always hang outside and have a pint! Pros: Good looking girls frequent. Cons: All male bartenders. more

Best Irish Pub in LA 8/3/2006

I went there the other night and had the best time in a pub since i lived in Ireland. The Guinness is excellent, its not supposed to be served room temp or ice cold! Great service and food. The irish whiskey selection was emmense and I had a great time with two of the best bartenders i've seen in a while. Stop by and say hello to Tony And Chris, guarranteed a warm welcome and a good time. Pros: Great beer, whiskey staff and patrons Cons: it closes at 2am more

Our bar is all grown up! 7/26/2006

My friend and I became ""regulars"" when it first opened up. There would hardly be anyone in there. We went their steadily for a year and slowly noticed it becoming more and more crowded. Luckily, since we made friends with the bartenders (alot of them are not there anymore of course) we didn't have to wait too long for drinks. I haven't been there in a long time- if I do go I want to go at a time when I know it won't be crowded, like Monday night. It is a fun place for singles though- their Halloween parties are pretty crazy. Lots of good looking people, but not so intimidating. more

surprisingly... 7/24/2006

Great customer service EVERYTIME.. I've been here several times and have never had bad experience. Drinks are served promptly and food is delish. I love fish and chips...and they make it very well.. The batter doesn't get soggy and the fish is always fresh and moist. The chips are thick cut, crispy, and hot...best eaten right away! The only thing that disappoints me is the Guinness...either give it to me at room temp..or ice cold.. I always get it in between, so bleh.. It's all made up with the atmosphere, which is surprisingly..... pleasant. Pros: fish and chips, ambience Cons: parking...either on the street which is ridiculous after 6pm(cause it's free) or hike to the structure more

Great bar! 6/9/2006

This is my favorite bar in Long beach, by far. No pressure to look cool while dancing, you can just sip on a beer and have a fantastic time. The crowd is very mixed age-wise, and the atmosphere is friendlier than I've seen it in any other bar. I can take my boyfriend, friends, or even my mom - and I always have a blast. It does get crowded on the weekends, but that's when the best Irish bands play (my personal favorite: Sligo Rags). Sometimes Wednesdays have a good sized crowd. If you're looking for mixed drinks (not beer!), you'll want Matt to make them. . . stay away from the Long Island iced teas otherwise! I can't say enough about how amazing this place is - although I probably should stop, I'm just going to make it more crowded!! Pros: extensive beer choices, atmosphere, live music Cons: long wait time for drinks, aggressive women! =/ more

Wee bit of Ireland in Long Beach 9/13/2005

After a trip to Ireland, it's nice to finally find a nice spot that provides the same friendly atmosphere, food and drink as the pubs of the Emerald Isle. Boxties are more than adequate, and the Guiness is ice cold. Nice find! Pros: Authentic atmosphere, Friendly Service, Good Irish Fare Cons: Cozy, can get crowded more

Unexpected.. 3/21/2005

After trying different bars and restaurants in Long Beach, my friends and I just went to this pub last Saturday and the atmosphere was awesome! The live band played great music and it was a fun place to go and have some drinks with friends. I can't wait to go again. Pros: Great drinks, Fun Atmosphere, Good music Cons: A little crowded more

Try it out 2/28/2005

I always thought Downtown Long beach was dead, but it's improving. The Auld Dubliner is a nice place to chill with your buddies and have a few cold ones, the cocktails are good as well. I love how there's usually street parking around. Pros: decent drinks, street parking more
