Not what I was expecting... 8/7/2006

I had been told that Tessaro's has the best burgers in Pittsburgh, but I have to admit that I wasn't that pleased. The toppings and roll were pretty tasty, but the meat was dry and too charred. Perhaps I should have ordered my burger less than medium well. It seemed as if they had to burn the super thick burger on the outside to get it cooked on the inside. In any event, the service was good and the beer was reasonably priced. The highlight of my visit was seeing that they had a functional cigarette machine in the ladies room. I didn't think those were even legal anymore. more

Lots of Burgers, but no Fries 3/23/2006

My husband loves to go to Tessaro's for the burgers, but I prefer to get the kabobs or a steak salad. But, as a warning, they don't have a fryer, so don't expect to get French Fries on the side or on top of the salad. The side dish choices consist of things like rice, potato sald, vegetables, etc. The food is good, but the restaurant is very small, and the wait to get a table can get long. On a Saturday night, the wait usually takes about an hour. Be sure to check out the murals and see if you can pick out the owner and employees! more

Tessaro 3/21/2006

Tessaro's is located in Bloomfield near West Penn Hospital. They are known for their fish sandwich during lent and also there amazingly good burgers. The prices are very cheap. The restaurant doesn’t really have any parking so it will be hard to find a spot close; your best bet is to find something along a side street. When you go make sure you get a burger, the meat is ground up in house and only the best cuts are put into it. It is just mouth watering thinking about it. more

Be prepared for a wait. Great burgers, different atmosphere. Love this place. Check schedule before you go. I think they are closed on Mondays. more

The best burgers in the world 9/3/2005

If you want a juicy - non premade burger you are in for a treat. They grill it over hickory woods in their TINY kitchen. Boy it melts in your mouth. The burger comes with a choice of cole slaw, potato salad, or chips. You can substitute a salad for a small charge. There is no deep fryer in the restaurant so no fried foods. They also have wonderful sea food specials however they are a little more pricey. Everything I have ever had at Tessaro's has been wonderful. There is often a wait on a Friday or Saturday night so be prepared. more

American food does well 8/16/2005

Tessaro's has a nice atmosphere. It has a pub like feel on the bar side, and an equally relaxed feel on the dining half. Tables are in fairly dark rooms, but comfortably spaced. The place is known for its hamburgers, but I found them a little too chargrilled for my taste. Fish offerings are pricey and not overly tasty. Service is very nice, and employees are friendly. more
