Great place, Must have the black cod! 6/8/2009

Great restaurant and outstanding service! My wife and I went there and we both had the cod. It lived up to the hype. We also had the green garlic soup Whig was good as well. It is a little pricy but comparable to the other restaurants in the Napa area. Only complaint is that it was a little difficult to find at first as there's no big sign outside. But I would highly recommend! more

Worst wine service ever 10/31/2007

I've been to Terra a number of times, and always enjoyed the food and ambiance. The wine list is diverse and thoughtfully chosen. The most recent time I and my girlfriend went, however, we had the rudest wine service experience we have ever had in any restaurant, anywhere. Pros: Nice ambiance, excellent food, good wine list Cons: Unbelievably rude customer treatment more

ONE OF MY FAVORITE IN THE NAPA VALLEY 6/25/2007

Terra is one of my favorite restaurants in the Napa Valley and I've dined there about 10 times in the last 3 years. The a la carte menu is consistently delicious, and the wine list has a good variety (though not particularly extensive). They don't have a tasting menu, so I like to call ahead and pre-arrange a tasting menu -- they're happy to accomodate. It's also one of the most romantic restaurants in the Napa Valley. The service is professional, attentive and unobtrusive. Don't miss dining at Terra. more

For an occasion 4/4/2006

We enjoyed a great dinner at Terra to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food was very well done - the oysters had hints of southern comfort cooking but was delicate and delicious as were the lamb T-bone steaks. My wife said the fish was great and despite not ordering a desert they brought out a scoop of ice cream with a candle on it! Crowd is largely successful baby boomers. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Price, Exp Wine list more

great place! 9/14/2004

You absolutely must try their Black Cod!!! It's a signature dish and I'm still thinking about it two weeks later. Can't remember what else I had during that meal but just the cod is worth coming back for. more

unbelievably delicious 7/25/2004

My boyfriend and I spent 4 days in the wine country for his birthday and Terra was my first choice for our first night's dinner. My boyfriend had the grilled dry-aged ribeye steak ""tagliata"". I had the sauteed Hokkaido scallops and lobster with garlic mashed potatoes. We had Tiramisu for dessert and it was very good too. The server was very knowledgeable of their menu and and the ambience is romantic. The stone wall gave us the feeling of old world Napa. However, the paintings on the abstract paintings need to be replaced. The border or sides of the frame looked like it had been soaked in water and dried out which was tacky for the dramatic lighting style in the dining room. Pros: great food, great service more

Outstanding experience 6/10/2003

Terra was the best dining experience I have had in the bay area. This place was even better than our previous night at Fringale, which was excellent. The food was fantastic, serving many inventive fish and meat dishes. The salmon tartar appetizer was outstanding. The salmon curry entree was done perfect. I really enjoyed the lobster and the pork chop as well. Overall, it does not get much better. I little pricey but worth it. more

terra lives up to it's hype 5/27/2002

I went to terra with 6 peopel this wekeend and everything was delicious and the service was very friendly and unobtrusive. i would recommend it for a nice meal in napa and the location just off the main drag is a nice walk ( a few blocks) form downtown st helena. we especially liekd hte lobster avacado appetizer, squab entree, and uni-foie gras dish. i would skip the desserts next time (tera misu and rhubard pie were average) Pros: innovative menu Cons: pricey more
