Overrated 5/21/2006

It's bad enoungh that the seating is horrible; along the far wall, you're sitting closer to the stranger next to you than the person across from you. But worse than that is the way you're rushed through dinner; after telling the waiter we did not want to be rushed, the waiter bringing dessert was literally standing behind the person clearing the table after just finishing our entrees, literally right behind!! When dinner cost $380 for 4 people, that is a joke. Bottom line is you can get just as good, if not better meal somewhere else in the city, no doubt about it. Cons: bad seating, rush you more

Poor service and atmosphere 2/4/2006

This is hands down .....my favorite restaurant in all of Providence. Food, service, valet parking, Mojitos...I like it all! Pros: Steaks, Free Valet parking, great bar scene Cons: none that I've seen! more

From an Ex-New Yorker Foodie, this place is fine 7/7/2005

My wife and I lived in NYC for the last 10 years. We made a point to get to a lot of different restaurants in NY and after our move to RI, we figured our big fancy dinners were behind us. We truly enjoyed the food and the staff at 10 Prime. Our waiter was top notch -- steering us away from some choices, recommending wine, etc. The best Dessert menu I have ever held in my hands - period - I did not order due to putting away my whole steak an appetizer and some sushi. The best dessert menu. My wife and I found the sushi to be so - so -- my Steak Au Poivre and the Butter mashed potatoes were both home runs- in the same league as the NYC steak houses for quality and enormous portion size. Best Restaurant I've Ever Been Too 4/8/2004

Ten Prime Steak & Sushi is by far the best restaurant I've been to in Providence. Everything about it is sexy, from the bar (and bartenders) to the sushi and steaks. The decor is wild and flirtatious! I love going there for drinks after work or dinner with a date! more

I went to eat at 10 a few months ago and ordered a very expensive steak, ordered it medium and had to send it back three times for being very rare! This is unacceptable for a steakhouse. The management gave us free wine but it didn't make my very late dinner (my friend was done) enjoable. I will never go back again and would not recommend it to anyone. Not impressed with the decor. The menu was fine but the food took way too long to arrive and was cold by the time it got to the table. Our table boy was clueless but our waitress was ok even though she was a little abrupt. The bill was outrageous but we probably ordered without checking prices. We were seated immediately at about 9:00 on a tuesday evening. Maybe the experience would have been better on a weekend with a full kitchen staff but I do not return to a 6 or below rating. The food was excellent. However, the extensive wine list is laid out poorly and improper glassware was used for the wine. Also instead of using the available space, all patrons cramped together more

BIG waste of time and money! 2/4/2003

After 3 1/2 hrs, many mixed up courses, STILL NO DESSERT, and, ""supposedly"" a free glass of wine for the trouble, we were $180 + tip, very unhappy :( Pros: small tables, shared conversations, pricey side dishes Cons: bumping elbows, shared salt + pepper, never getting dessert more

Incredibly mediocre. For a steak place, they have no idea what ""rare"" and ""medium rare"" means. For a ""sushi"" place, they still cook their lobsters like some pre-war (WWII) roadside hash house. The thing was coated in oil - my dinner companion was covered by the end of his dinner. I've eaten lobsters from lobster pounds to the best restaurants around and I've never seen such a thing. Don't ask the waiter for tips on wine. They're pretty clueless. Some of the clientele seated during my incredibly overpriced meal were dressed in their best sleeveless t-shirts and didn't bother covering up their undershirts with anything in particular. I couldn't believe they were seated, much less let in the front door. Pros: Bar Cons: No standards, poorly cooked food, incompetent staff more
