I took my son in to have his hearing checked since he had failed his hearing screening at school. He saw the audiologist first then he saw Dr. Tamez. Dr. Tamez completed his exam ...

I have found this to be a very professional office. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the physician is very thorough. I have been seeing this doctor for several years and happened to go to google to go get the phone number and saw these reviews. I just felt it was important to let people have an alternate view. I have been nothing but happy with the service and care that I have received. I went to the doctor because I was having sinus infections and sleep problems. He did a nose surgery on me explaining that not only would it help with sinus infections, but also with my sleep. HE WAS SO RIGHT! I used to get 5-6 sinus infections per year and it has been 6 months since my surgery and I have not even had 1 sinus infection, plus my sleep is so much more restful. I have recommended this office to many friends and family and they too had only positive things to say. My entire family sees this physician. Love him! He is great with kids! My daughter loves him! Before and after surgery, the staff was extremely accomodating, there was even an office member that had the same surgery I did and was able to explain what to expect before and after surgery. \r \r I completely understand that health care is expensive, however if you have insurance, that is really not the offices fault, but your insurance company. The office informed me of cost prior to all procedures and explained everything along the way. \r \r I really hope that people read this and give this office a chance. I can't obviously speak for everyone, everyone has a different point of view. But, he is great and the office is great too! more

avoid 2/26/2008

I went in to get my hearing checked. I thought the audiologist was very professional and knew what she was talking about. When I had to go in for a check with the doctor, he concentrated on my nose. He wanted me to get a CAT scan and look into surgery on my nose. From there, everything related to my ""deviated septum"" without asking any other history on things. My allergist confirmed to me at my next appointment that it was not a problem in need of surgery. I think he is ""quick to the knife"". I will not go back. I have gone elsewhere to get my hearing aids so I don't have to deal with him. Pros: audiologist is nice Cons: ENT just wanted to do surgery when I wasn't there for nose/sinus problems more

I've only seen him once and what I could see he is very prof. and kind, The price seems to be fine and his staff is also good, However he needs to up date his phone # on the web it is now :(512-255-8070).\r I'll be seeing him again soon, More later...........,, I'm back, well now he wants 75 up front, well we have good ins. I am gona look for another that want worry about my ins not paying but I will keep him in mind, I'll be back..... Pros: They told me i would be waiting about an hour to where as I only waited 30 min. Cons: I haven't found any yet. Now,, money up front w/or w/out Insurance????? more

Avoid if you can. 9/11/2007

\r My husband took my son to his first appointment today. He arrived at 7:20am, his appointment was scheduled for 7:30am.\r \r Dr Tamez walks into the examination room at 8:30am. No apology, no excuse, nothing. He asks how they are and my husband said ""we have been waiting for the past hour -our apt time was picked specifically for 7:30am because it's the first of the day"".\r Dr. Tamez replied ""You can get your co pay back, Good Bye"".\r \r Wow -We've never experienced such unprofessional behaviour -ever. Pros: Office staff were mannerly Cons: the Doctor is really unprofessional, Not ideal for preschooler age due to wait time! more

Very expensive post op care. 3/29/2007

Be warned. Post op visits are VERY expensive. I had a septoplasty and other repairs done to my nose that were blocking off my sinus. I had two surgeries three weeks apart at day surgery and each required several visits for follow up on healing, four of which were to remove packing (so I was told when told to make another appt). The day before each follow up, I would find out I was scheduled for an endoscopy (an in office surgical procedure) and even with insurance, I was required to pay $78.00 BEFORE my appt or the appt would be cancelled. The first visit after each surgery qualified as a post op visit, but no others. My insurance company was billed for 5 endoscopies. THe last one really upset me as I had to have the last of the packing removed and the dr had told us in recovery that both visits for the removal of packing would be post op and there would be no charge. We complained but there was no discussion on this allowed. Pay up in advance or find another dr to remove the packing. Though I needed other ENT issues taken care of, I paid up, had the packing removed and found another ENT. Dr. Tamez did send me an letter of apology later for how his office staff handled everything. Pros: Dr Tamez himself is personable and qualified. Cons: Post op care is VERY expensive. more
