I had just recently moved into the South Jersey area, and when a neighbor.. obviously not knowing what places were good or not recommended me to Techniques, I decided to give it a try. I was scheduled for a single process and cut with Lisa, a stylist whom a receptionist urged to me over the phone that she was a great match for me after describing my background, what I’m used to getting done at my old salon, etc. When I go to check in I am handed a black credit card type booklet with no directions from the receptionists as to what is was, or what I do with it etc, and since I was new, I figured I would get a heads up, but unfortunately I got nothing… just a cool smile and a “shell be with you shortly”. Not even ten minutes later another customer who was also apparently new gets the full run down on the booklet and a “welcome Bag”, when I who was absolutely also new to the salon, gets nothing. After waiting in the lobby I am finally brought back to Lisa, when during the whole time seems to have no clue of what she is doing. I was tempted to leave the salon several times but instead I stayed and endured at least two hours of other stylists and their unprofessional conversations with each other. Lisa had styled my hair in a way where you couldn’t see the bleeding and my original color coming through since she knew I would be horrified at the complete disaster of the color. The cut was uneven and it made me think that the training of these stylists were nonexistent. Additionally I had color stains on my skin for days after the color, which makes me think my hair wasn’t even washed properly. After paying an astronomical amount for such horrible service from the male receptionist who had to finish his cigarette before coming to the front desk, I was appalled. I am not usually one to call back for a service redo, but when I did a couple days later and after getting hung up on twice since there was a “problem with the phone” I was informed by the owner that in order for a stylist to fix my messed up hair from the beginning, I would have to pay the difference from what the original stylist to the new stylists price since it operates on a European level system. Well I since then found a great place that had fixed my hair, so the moral of the story on Techniques is Save your money, time, and sanity.
Cons: overall salon presentation and attitude horrible
