What a Disappointment 10/15/2011

As a middle-aged woman I have been to many salons in my life. Some were great, and some were not so great. This is one That is not so great. I have gone several times because of the close location to my home. My latest experience there will be my last. I was not happy with my hair because my stylist colored it incorrectly, she then proceeded to ""redo"" it. After I washed it the next day it looked like straw. I called the manager who offered to give me free conditioning treatment. The long and the short of it is that even after that it looked like straw. Moreover, after another call I got an attitude from the manager. Not a very professional leader, given I had spent $250.00. Then, I called another very-well-known salon in the area and asked them if someone should ""re- color"" hair the same day and they said, ""It is hairdressing 101, not to redo a full foil the same day."" I went to a wig store and bought a wig ( another $200.00.) You can't fight City Hall or unprofessional establishments. They have an excuse for everything. Go to the bigger salons in Cherry Hill or other big towns, not this one. They will charge you the same. more

Best facial 10/13/2011

If you want an AMAZING facial then you need to go here! Make sure you get Tina!! I have had many facials from many different salons and Tina by far is the best at what she does. My face glows when I leave there! My make up goes on better, and sometimes I can get away with not wearing any at all. She is very professional and knows what she is talking about when it come to taking care of your skin. I would never trust anyone but Tina with my face! She also does an amazing eyebrow wax, she gives the best arch and trims them perfectly. It is important to go to a perfectionist when it comes to brows because one bad brow wax and you are done! I also like the appearance of the salon, it is decorated so pretty and inviting. I have always had a good experience with the front desk. They have always been very accommodating. My suggestion would be try it out and see for yourself! I also need to mention that when you get a hair cut when the shampoo girl washes your hair, she gives you a scalp massage!! It is the best part of the haircut! I have never seen that before. Other salons charge more for that and consider it a separate service. more

booo. 5/24/2011

went there for an occasion WITH a photo of what I believed was a very reasonable request. I just wanted long, loose curls.\r Sammi, did not listen at all. AND I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I can't stand it when a stylist KNOWS it doesn't look good, but has all the other hair stylist come around to confirm just how ""GREAT"" it looks.\r I left very disappointed and had to redo my hair when I got home. I will Not return there any time soon. more

Can't Follow Directions 11/23/2010

Sorry that I wasted my time and money, but this salon looked nice from the outside and it is close to where I work. However, the problem was that the stylist I saw couldn't follow the directions I wanted even though I brought in a magazine with the picture of the cut shown from every angle. My bangs were uneven. I asked her to look at the picture again and make a change. She seemed upset about this, so I just complained to the front desk when leaving and was given a stupid answer. This seems like a small town salon that tries, but it just doesn't ""cut"" it. more

Professional, Friendly Salon 5/14/2010

I've been going to Techniques for about 11 years! Even through college and then moving over an hour and a half away for 3 years, I never went anywhere else (except for the 6 months I was out of the country - A girl can only go so long without getting her roots dyed). \r \r They helped me through some tough times (getting rid of blue hair) and have always been helpful and professional. In all that time, I have only had a couple less than stellar experiences, but I chalk them up to not being able to see my usual stylists and not being familiar with another person's way of doing things. It was never anything drastically bad; obviously I'm still getting my hair done here! I'm also not a huge fan of the scalp massage, but that's a personal preference - I think I have a tender scalp, lol. It’s also not so fun when you’re hungover… \r \r Overall, Techniques is a great place. They always try to take care of you - they offer to get you drinks or reading material. They are good with listening to directions and doing what's necessary to please you. If you want something done differently, just tell them! I think some people who have given bad reviews are the type that don't speak up until it’s too late or feel like they can't ask for something to be changed. The stylists are also not mind readers – no one is. Unless you are specific with what you want or give them some sort of visual aid, the picture you have inside your head may not be what you get. This is true with any salon.\r \r I’ve been seeing the stylist Anita for about 7 years now and in the past year I’ve been going to Lindsay as well. I recommend both to anyone looking to get their hair done here!\r Pros: Friendly staff, nice facility more

Wonderful -- Worth the drive! 2/17/2010

I have been going to Techniques for 10 years. I moved to Delaware in 2008, and now the trip takes me an hour, but it's worth it. I love coming there for my pedicures. They take their time, the pedicure area is well ventilated, the chairs are comfortable, there are a lot of choices for the nail color, it's clean, they don't pull out the razor and the technicians and staff are wonderful and welcoming. I never thought I would drive an hour each way for a pedicure, but for me, it's worth it. I have tried several places for my pedicure in DE. There's no comparison. I love Techniques! Pros: Great spa services Cons: distance from DE more

Not my kinda atmosphere 10/26/2009

I went there for the first time last week, I was handed a little bag full of goodies. Bu that was the only good thing about the place. I felt uncomfortable, not relaxed like the previous reviews had said. And for the price of the haircut I wasn't very impressed. I could have done it myself. Pros: Gift bag Cons: Service more

Should have read the reviews 10/23/2009

I went in for a simple cut, and the girl that was cutting my hair seemed to have no direction what so ever. It even got to the point where I cringed as she brought the sheers to my bang area and I told her to stop. First of all, over the phone whomever I spoke to, “Christy” urged me to go with this stylist after I gave her my background and described my old salon, what I am used to getting done, etc. I later got fixed down the street and for half the price, so I want to urge anyone that they too can save money and the embarrassment of having a horrible cut, and waiting for it to grow back to a length I am comfortable with. I honestly should have read the reviews before going to this salon. Cons: haircut more

A little piece of heaven in a chaotic world 10/18/2009

I have been to some of the most prestigious salon and spas in California that have movie star clientele and I have to say that Techniques has never failed to impress me. The staff makes sure that every minute I spend there is luxurious, from the moment I enter to the time that I leave. Everytime I go to Techniques I leave feeling like a million buck. No matter how chaotic of a week I am having I know that I can get a few hours of sweet escape there, and Jonathan at the front desk always makes sure of that. To me, he is the emodiment of true customer service and he makes the experience that much more of a pleasure. I would reccommend Techniques Salon and Spa to anyone who needs a little piece of heaven in a chaotic world! Pros: Movie Star Service more

Love it!!!!!!! 10/14/2009

I've been going to Techniques for 5 years now and I love it. It has a homey feeling and everyone makes you feel so welcome. I've had almost everything that they have to offer done there and all the services are extraordinary. The people that work there are very knowledgeable and if they don't know they ask until they do. And they are also kid friendly. Which is so hard to find in a nice salon because most salons only want kids there if the are customers. Not saying I bring my kids all the time with me, but there have been a few times when I haven't been able to find a babysitter. And the staff makes my kids feel so special. I've also been able to convince friends that only went to salons in the Marlton/Cherry Hill area that this place is the best and now they agree with me. Like I said, I LOVE IT!!!!! more

UnFair Review 10/14/2009

I have been working @ Techniques for a long time(almost 9 years)! The post below this sounds to me like someone who is bitter over being fired. We are an extremely professional and well educated classy salon with fair prices. We have staff who has been there for 15 years. We are fair and friendly and get along with each other as well as our clients amazingly so if you no longer work with us its because of yourself and your poor character shows in your post. Word of mouth is the best advertising so just ask anyone who comes to techniques! Pros: warm, friendly, comfortable more

What can I say...I'm in love 9/26/2009

I have been going to Techniques for a few years now (about 5 or 6). I'm a mother of three and between working full time, shuttling kids back and forth from school, practice, friends' houses, etc. and the little surprises life likes to throw at you...this place is amazing! Because of my schedule and my kids' schedules I'm always calling in last minute. The reception staff is always so nice and accommodating to me, giving me all of the options available for my cut and color appointments. And since I'm last minute I rarely ever see any one stylist regularly, and I'm okay with that simply because I have found they all do stellar work. I have never been disappointed by any of the work the girls/guys have done and would recommend the salon to anyone and everyone I know. Pros: friendly, personable staff. convenient. flexible more

Great Place to Unwind 9/25/2009

I have been a client to Techniques for about two years now. I came in as part of a bridal party and was so impressed with the atmosphere and professionalism of the workers. I decided to return and give it a try for haircut and again was extremely pleased and am now a ""regular"". I have now experienced all the departments (nails, pedicure, massage, and a facial) as part of a spa package and loved everything! I always look forward to my visits knowing I will leave looking and feeling better than when I walked in! more

Save time, money, and sanity 9/17/2009

I had just recently moved into the South Jersey area, and when a neighbor.. obviously not knowing what places were good or not recommended me to Techniques, I decided to give it a try. I was scheduled for a single process and cut with Lisa, a stylist whom a receptionist urged to me over the phone that she was a great match for me after describing my background, what I’m used to getting done at my old salon, etc. When I go to check in I am handed a black credit card type booklet with no directions from the receptionists as to what is was, or what I do with it etc, and since I was new, I figured I would get a heads up, but unfortunately I got nothing… just a cool smile and a “shell be with you shortly”. Not even ten minutes later another customer who was also apparently new gets the full run down on the booklet and a “welcome Bag”, when I who was absolutely also new to the salon, gets nothing. After waiting in the lobby I am finally brought back to Lisa, when during the whole time seems to have no clue of what she is doing. I was tempted to leave the salon several times but instead I stayed and endured at least two hours of other stylists and their unprofessional conversations with each other. Lisa had styled my hair in a way where you couldn’t see the bleeding and my original color coming through since she knew I would be horrified at the complete disaster of the color. The cut was uneven and it made me think that the training of these stylists were nonexistent. Additionally I had color stains on my skin for days after the color, which makes me think my hair wasn’t even washed properly. After paying an astronomical amount for such horrible service from the male receptionist who had to finish his cigarette before coming to the front desk, I was appalled. I am not usually one to call back for a service redo, but when I did a couple days later and after getting hung up on twice since there was a “problem with the phone” I was informed by the owner that in order for a stylist to fix my messed up hair from the beginning, I would have to pay the difference from what the original stylist to the new stylists price since it operates on a European level system. Well I since then found a great place that had fixed my hair, so the moral of the story on Techniques is Save your money, time, and sanity. Cons: overall salon presentation and attitude horrible more

Not worth the high price 5/12/2009

This place is just ‘ehhh’. I went in for a hair cut. Nothing fancy or too difficult… just a simple cut with layers. The girl (Andrea) gave me a totally blunt cut with 2 layers around my face. What the?!?! I would have stayed and made her re-do my hair if I wasn’t in a rush to go to another appointment but I won’t be coming back here. I’ve also used Anita before and she did a good job. She was very good about following instructions. But either way, I’m not coming back. Pros: Some of the staff are talented Cons: Some of the staff are incompetant more
