Best

Hands down Taxi is the best burger restaurant in town. Fuddrockers, Johnny Rockets, and Island's doesn't even come close to Taxi burgers.

Worst

I was hoping that I would fall in love with Taxi's since we lived down the street, but honestly it never knocked my socks off. My husband said the burgers were average. The veggie...

More expensive 8/21/2006

We used to go to Taxi's a lot, especially since they had a deal where you got a discount if you bought and wore one of their t-shirts or got a free kid's meal if they bought and wore one of their t-shirts. Now it's "moms eat free on Tuesdays if you buy 2 entrees". (I'm not sure what an entree is there.) Also, they appear to have raised their prices. It was $20 for me and three kids. To upgrade your kids soda to a kids milkshake you had to *add* 1.99! Suffice it to say I won't be running back there. I like their grilled chicken potato when I do go there. Another issue is the bathroom. It is outside, and you need a key. (Like at a real gas station I guess.) It's nice if you don't have kids to deal with and want to eat. The bathroom thing is really a deal breaker for me. more

It didn't knock my socks off, but it was okay 8/8/2006

I was hoping that I would fall in love with Taxi's since we lived down the street, but honestly it never knocked my socks off. My husband said the burgers were average. The veggie burger was just bad, so I always ended up with a grilled cheese, which wasn't that drool worthy. They do have curly fries, and their baked potatoes are good. I guess this is a good place to take children, however, we have none. Burgers and fries are sold seperately as well. more

Great deals, pretty good food 3/24/2006

My kids love Taxi's. I don't really like the burgers but their baked potatoes (plain, with chicken or with chili) are really good. Plus if you buy one of their t shirts, every time you come and your kid (or you, I think) is wearing it you get a free kid's meal! They also have great shakes and sundaes and are very friendly and helpful. more

Not as good as I expected, but it was was okay 3/20/2006

My mom and I took my kids for lunch here today. I have lived in San Mateo for 8 years and I have heard time and again how great Taxi's is. First, I knew it was a diner, but I guess I was expecting more of a Johnny Rockets type decor then a stand in line kinda joint. The kids loved their hamburgers. I had a baby burger and decided for the first time in a long time to splurge on calories and have a shake, but I was sort of disappointed with that. It wasn't thick enough and I had a rootbeer shake and I didn't really taste the rootbeer, seemed like a vanilla shake. My mom had the cobb salad and it looked quite good. I'd go here again, but I'm not gonna run back. Although, Tuesdays after 3 mom eats free with the family. more

Good place to take the kids! 1/12/2006

Taxi's serves food kids will actually eat, like curly fries, hamburgers, milk shakes and more. There is a salsa and salad bar to fix your own burgers, and veggie patty options as well. This place is fixed up like an old 50s style diner, complete with a 1950s yellow taxi parked outside. Inside they have a working (sometimes!) juke box that plays nostalgia for a couple of quarters. It's fun already, but then if you come at dinner time, kids can color on the place mats, and they also pass out free balloons! The food isn't gourmet, but the atmosphere is fun. more
