Taverna Tuxedo

Not a good atmosphere. I heard this place is relatively new (just a few years) and is currently being run by the owner's daughter, who is also a waitress, and who we found to be quite gruff and unpleasant. The food was overpriced for what it was, and the amosphere was just so-so. I've lived in this area for years, and several of my neighbors have said the same. I much prefer Sunnyside, just a mile down the road in Sloatsburg. If you have any doubts, just drive by both restaurants any Friday night and notice the difference between the number of cars in the parking lots and the people inside. That says it all. Characters is also very good, and Rhodes, while the food may not be quite as good as Characters, is a real neighborhood establishment -- friendly, comfortable, good food, and staffed by people who know how to treat their customers. more

I am sorry to here the reviewer below me had a bad experience. I go to Taverna or as some still call in the ""Junction"" or the ""Inn"". I would say I go on average once a week. I go with my husband & sometimes bring the kids. There is somethin on the menu for everyone. The food is excellent & service is right on point as welll. I would have to say I have not had the same experience with the owner as the previous reviewer. A young girl who appears to manage the place always takes care of us, & if shes not there we try and request her. She goes out of her way to get us whatever we need or would like, She even went out of her way to get balloons & a few decorations because she knew my birthday had just passed. The owner will walk around and check in on the tables every so often while were there & she appears very friendly. As for comparing them to Characters, GREAT!! but to compare them to Rhodes sounds a little crazy to me because i've been there & had a terrible experience. But to each his own. I hope my review can help steer someone in the right direction toward Taverna!!! more

Nasty service, seedy atmosphere. Took my family here because we had a Restaurant-dot-com coupon. Our server, who identified herself as the owner, was rude from the moment we entered the door. After we ordered, she informed us that they do not honor Restaurant-dot-com coupons and was so crass and abrasive, in general, we would not go back there if it were the only restaurant in a 10 mile radius and it was free. What a waste of an evening. You're better off driving a few miles south to Sloatsburg and going to Rhodes or Characters, instead. more

My Wife & I eat at Taverna Tuxedo about once a month. We always have excellent service and the food is consistently good. I highly recommend the Portobello Mushrooms- it's the best I've ever had, The bread is always served fresh-baked & warm. My steak melted in my mouth and was so tender it could be cut with a fork. The vegetables were al dente, which I think is something this location likes to do, and tasted great. The tables are a bit close together if you are in the center section rather than a booth, and they really bring in the customers. We ran into some friends of the newly minted Graduate and their parents, who live at the Park and say they eat here often. At first, the server did not seem very attentive, but got much better later in the meal. For me Taverna Tuxedo is a real treat and I can't wait to come back. I highly recommend this restaurant. more
