An Anomaly 2/15/2011

The 1st 4 times I was here I had no problem getting a table, but getting the check took close to an hour. The food was bland and the lobster tail was dry. Last weekend, I was convinced to go back after 2+ years of avoiding this place. I live in the neighborhood and always see long lines up front. My friend and I went for lunch around 1pm on Saturday, so there was no wait. We didn't order from the lunch menu and maybe that was our mistake. We ordered calamari, which was fresh and just cooked great. I ordered the mediterranean sea bass, which was tasteless and my friend ordered a stuffed filet. Also bland. We ate half and left. Sunday morning my friend got food poisoning. That Sunday afternoon at around 4pm I got food poisoning. We ate there together and ate no other meal together. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY PEOPLE LOVE THIS PLACE? MY BEST GUESS IS THAT THE PRICE DRAWS THE CROWD. more

Great food 4/21/2010

Great food but the wait ...! After such a long wait anything you eat will taste good. In this case though their food is good, it's not that is bad but to you it seems great because you were starving :) They do not take reservations so that's why people are lined up for a table... The atmosphere is ok, but the wait is just crazy... The food is delicious though... I loved the grilled octopus and the fried feta cheese. Also, you should try the stuffed sea food, simply delicious. I highly recommend this place but go there early and not on the weekends, unless you are willing to wait because they do not take reservations... Astoria's Best Lemon Potatoes and Greek Seafood 10/16/2009

I always wanted to try Taverna Kyclades but there was always a line. I finally was determined to wait and see what everyone was waiting for? I have to say the line moved very quick. I was surpirsed with the fast service for such a buzy place. But what I really really love where there Lemon Potatoes. Out of this world!!!!!!!!!. The grilled salmon was perfect and the protions were huge. the waitress recomneded a perfect Greek wine to match and I was set.I left so full and was glad I tried Taverna Kyclades. Will be back again. Pros: Large portions,Great food and resonable prices Cons: Only that there is a line to get in but it moves fast more

Go for an early brunch or a weekday dinner. Weekends you'll end up waiting 2 hours for dinner. The food is amazingly fresh and great. Pros: Fresh!, Cons: LONG LINES more

Attentive and friendly service and whatever you order will be fresh, but some things stood out way beyond the others. So what to order: fried zucchini and squash with really great garlic potatoes, fried Greek cheese, and a fish called whiting. Yes there is a fish called whiting and it is absolutely great. Excellent! 3/3/2009

I brought my guests there all the way from manhattan and we had grilled seabass as a main dish. It was very delisious. Their peasant salad was very fresh. The calamari was so nice and crispy but sauce could be better. I loved it a lot. Everybody must try it! more

Good Wholesome Greek Food 2/16/2009

Came here for dinner on Valentines Day with my loved one. We both enjoyed the appetizers and our meals. Prices were fairly reasonably, service was ok. Will try this place on another quieter night.. hopefully service will improve. Overall not a bad place. more

I was there with my husband on Monday night and the place was packed.So being in restaurant business for a quiet while we know that it must be something in this place that attracts customers.We were seated promptly and we ordered grilled octopus which was ok,grilled sardines and calamari-they were very tender,fresh and soft.Food was really good and prices are also reasonable.Service of course could be better.Our waiter was unattentive,rude and unprofessional.Even in diners they serve better.But the remaining staff seemed very nice and place has very charming owner\r I will recommend this place if u like seafood and greek cuisine.just dont expect too much from service and ambience because it's a local restaurant that offers you a good food for a good price. Some Things Great, Some So-So 1/3/2009

I've been going to Taverna Kyclades off and on for several years now and while the quality of the seafood has remained excellent, the rest of the menu is just ok. Coupled with the wait time (don't even bother on a Friday or Saturday night) and the service (which is either good or horrible - a BIG miss with one waitress in particular) it's just not worth it anymore. Excellent Greek Food and THE BEST GALAKTOBOUREKO I've ever had... 1/2/2009

While there always seems to be a line to get in... what you get is well worth the wait! There's a line for a reason... people know good food when then find it. The seafood dishes have consistantly been full of flavor and the souvlakia and biftekia (greek burgers) are sooo good! It's so hard to choose something from the menu. Even the Greek salad tastes authentic... takes me back to my grandma's house. I don't know what they do but everything always tastes great. And i can't stress enough how good the galaktoboureko dessert is. No diet is worth skipping this delicious treat. I've joked about ordering trays of it for the house! You will definitely be pleased with your meal at this restaurant. Pros: the food is always good and the Galaktoboureko is AMAZING. Cons: sometimes the wait to get a table. more

the portions are great, service lousy, the wait is BEYOND ridiculous and the place is way too small. Friendly owner, good food, and prices are reasonable. No parking available, not even valet esp. on Friday or Saturday nights. If you get there after 5 PM, you won't be eating till 630 - 700 PM.. Not a place to go for sure if you are starving. Otherwise, would recommend it. Pros: large portion sizes, good prices Cons: very small, tight, noisy place, LONG LONG WAIT more

really bad food....the service is the one offer by diners. the waiters are old but they barely speak good english. so it wasnt easy to communicate with them. they rush people out. fish is not as fresh as people think more

Excellent and great price! 11/24/2007

We were the only two non-Greek people in the restaurant so we took that as a good sign. We didn't have any problem with the service - it was quick, attentative, and all around excellent. They told us there would be a half hour wait but it was only 15 minutes and this was on a Saturday night. Everything was excellent and you get lots of food for your money. Strongly recommend it for great Greek food. Atmosphere is noisy but it is still be a great date place since it's great to share portions and the food is so good. more
