Taster's Wok

ok so this is the best chinease restaurant I have tried. We love Asian food and are always on the look for a great place. As we don't like greasy and fattening food then our selections of restaurants that fit the criteria gets shorten. But this place sure fits our taste. Even the General Tsoce Chicken is not so heavy and it is sure a pleasure to have. The waiters are very attentive young guys mainly that smile to you and pour from your dishes to share into your bowl or plate. They also ask plenty of times if there was anything else we needed. We are no to much of a dessert lovers and the only time we ask for one it wasn't that great but again is not a big deal since we are not into sweets that much . The Korean spicy soup is to die for and two can eat from it. Also the fiery appetizer is a nice start to your stomach and to your eyes :) We have been to this place numerous times and we will keep doing so... more

I have dined at tasters wok more times than I can count and I have also ordered food for pick up an equal number of times, not only myself but with all of my co-workers. I called in an order for pick up 2/14/11 just as usual how ever this time I was told we dont accept payment over the phone. I responded thats unusual, not only have I paid over the phone many times, my co-workers have done the same. I have also sent my friends and co-workers in with my bank card. The owner got on the phone and instead of appologising to me she stated. We have never taken payment over the phone and if you want to pick up an order the card holder must be present. Basicly calling me a liar instead of simply stating ""we have had problems with credit card fraud and we can no longer take cards over the phone."" I dont know if I will eat here again. If I do I will definitly be giving the owner a piece of my mind. Definitly not high on my list for customer satisfaction. more

I say this because we first went when Taster's was in downtown Edmonds with our 5 and 8 year old girls--the only place we could get tasty vegetarian food. We waited anxiously until they found their new place and designed a bigger, more beautiful and fuller menu, closer to our home. By then, every home from college visit, every birthday has meant a trip to Taster's. Every boyfriend has fallen in love with the food, and can't wait to visit and go again. Even now, after we've moved down to Seattle, I'll be stopping by to pick up the favorites for take-out while my daughter's home shopping for a wedding dress--Szechuan Eggplant, Lofun (fat rice noodles) special ordered with deep-fried tofu, and the sweet and sour ""vegetarian chicken,"" (even though she's no longer a vegetarian!) As for the bar scene, I've always noticed it's unusually popular, and active, but we've never had a problem with that. The owners are great and always remembered our names. Taster's Wok is a Cozy Neighborhood Restaurant. The Dinning experience is great. The Bar is definately local central with some professional drunks who make the bar scene interesting for people watchers. It has two different types of locals there. It has the young liberal types who range in orientation from disconnected to those are barely hanging on. The other more conservative types are individuals who drop in to sing and mingle from time to time. The restaurant staff is professional and very good at what they do. The Bar staff is very tolerant and playful at the same time. The Karaoke Hosts are good at what they do. I have experienced off day for all of them, but they like a good singer. Show them what you got in a, at times, loud crowd. By all means try some food. You 'll want to take some home with you. They have take home menu's as well. more

I can't speak about the bar part of the restaurant, as I don't go to a restaurant to sit at a bar, I can comment on the food. I've been going to Taster's Wok for about 10 years. The food is absolutely STUNNING. I highly recommend the Taster's Chicken (but ask for the sauce on the side - it detracts from the chicken). The General's chicken is also very good. Actually, not much there ISN'T wonderful. Might want to get a reservation - it gets busy! But it's worth it. Pros: The FOOD! Cons: Parking can be difficult. more

This is my favorite place for Karaoke! They have karaoke on Fri & Sat nights (& sometimes weeknights, call first) usually starting around 10. I love the crowd here. Everyone cheers and claps for the singers and there are a few regulars that are absolutely FANTASTIC! It's nice because it's not a trendy ""hipster"" bar where people are trying too hard or a meat market. You can just kick back in your jeans & tennis shoes and not feel under-dressed or not cool enough. The DJ's are always great and are fair about making sure your songs are played and are also entertaining themselves. The audio equipment and song selection is definitely well above other karaoke places I've been. The only down-side to this place is that they don't have pitchers. It can get pretty crowded on Friday & Saturday, so get there before 11pm to make sure you can find a table. I come here regularly with my friends and we ALWAYS have a blast! And don't worry if you can't sing, there's always the drunk lady in the cowboy hat to make EVERYONE look good! :) more

I've gone to Taster's Wok a couple of weekends and hung out at the bar, where they have karaoke every night. These are my impressions... Pros: karaoke, food selection, facilities Cons: crowd, crowd, crowd more

While service was slow, the food once it arived was quite tasty. Don't get the black bean sauce though.. it was the one bummer of the meal. Everything else was really good especially the prawns with walnuts in a coconut milk sauce. more

This is the best resturant for Vegan chinese food. While they only have 10 vegan items on the menu it's 10 times better than Bamboo Garden. I love the General tao's ""chicken"", sweet and sour ""pork"" and the spring rolls are awsome! Although it's quite the drive from downtown Seattle I have found myself returning to this resturant again and again. They give you huge portions of food for an excellent price. I usually have enough left-overs for three other meals. Another great thing about this resturant is they are willing to make other menu items vegan if possible. For example I asked if it was possible to make the mandarin chicken with the fake meat subsitute and they had no problem with it. They have very real fake ""meats"" which for some that's good and others not. There is also a full bar and karaoke in the back room. Pros: Excellent food, Great vegan options, Wonderful price more
