Taste of India

My relatives ordered the food from Campus food. The order had, among other things, Samosa Chat that was priced at $5.95. When the food was delivered we were given samosa that were priced $2.95. When we called Taste of India, the lady told us that this happens quite often and we should contact Campus foods and get reimbursement. When we checked menu from Taste of India, it was confusing - Samosa and Samosa chat, both had the same title "Samosa". To me when employees at Taste of India see that the customer has paid $5.95 for Samosa, they should know which one to pack up i.e. Samosa Chat. more

Had a short trip to Rochester with the family and wanted to see if the Indian food in Rochester was better then in the Buffalo area. Did a search and this place came up in the area we were going to be in and it had some good reviews. We went on a Friday night and it was not too busy and were seated right away. Set in a little strip mall the place was easy to find and parking is easy. The TV's are set to Bollywood (very low volume), tables set with linen and host is OK on greeting. They quickly get you water and some Pappadam. We ordered the Chicken Korma($12), Kadai Gost($13), and Chicken Biryani ($14). The food came in a reasonable time and it was wonderful! We ordered it mild and that is how it came unlike many places where mild is much more. The food came with Basmati Rice that was cooked perfectly. We ordered the Bread Basket that contained 4 different types of Naan. Portions were nice and between 3 adults and 1 four year old we had plenty to share and we took home just a little. We tried the Mango Kulfi and that was nice. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. It is better then a couple of Buffalo places we have gone to recently (Tandori and Kabab & Curry) but I have had better (well...more authentic) in places I have visited in London and Toronto so I am a bit fussy. Service was OK but not much energy, emotion, or caring...simply not eloquent. Seems you only get that now in a rest. where you spend $75 per person not $20. Check this places site for coupons! more

Definatly go to their lunch buffet...for the price it cannot be beat! Authentically cooked food,delicious, servers were very nice & the food was fresh! I have been to another indian buffett & it didnt have as many selections and the staff wasnt as nice. These owners take pride in their restaurant & it shows! I am a frequenter of taste of india now! more

I had been there with my family recently on a weekend during the last month and WE WILL NEVER GO AGAIN TO THIS PLACE. The food was very bad without any freshness,taste and it was cold too. We saw a couple complaining about the quality of the food to the owner and he was just nodding his head. I also called the owner and then complained about the food in a very polite manner but he got angry and was very rude with me. He was not trying to pay any attention to what I was saying. All he said was... if you don't like the food don't eat it. My wife got really upset with his behaviour and we walked away from the restaurant immediately. Before leaving, I challenged him I will do a stop payment(which I did) with my credit card company for the poor service/quality of food. Tandoor of India is a far better place to eat and we have been going there these days. I have been sharing this horrible experience at Taste of India with all my friends/colleagues and they have been passing along this info to their friends and co-workers. My sincere advice to everyone on this forum is not to try Taste of India Pros: Nothing positive about the place or the food. Cons: Food doesn't taste good with poor service more
