Good Food, Great Art 2/3/2010

Have eaten at Taste several times. There are a few menu items that are incredble. the gorganzola cheesecake which is actaully an appetizer and not a real cheesecake. Served with sliced apples & pita-like chips...Tasty!! Also, the Espresso Brulee dessert is fantastic. The back room at Taste which is used for live bands also has local art on display. I'm not sure how long it will be hanging but we saw some incredible work by husband and wife painters Tracy Burke & Ralph Verano. Tatse is a very relaxed, laid back place for a few drinks and light dinner. Pros: comfortable atmosphere Cons: needs a better wine selection more

whoa check their bathroom 1/6/2010

Had dinner, the food tasted like reheated leftovers. After dinner friend ventured into the restroom and said it was the absolute most disgusting thing he had ever seen. If he would have seen that first he would have made us leave... Pros: umm? Cons: dirty dirty dirty more

Taste... Tastless staff 10/12/2009

We have eaten at Taste a few times over the past few years and were never really impressed. The food is basic, the service is slow and the wine pricing is a complete ripoff. To top that I had to deal with the rudest person last Saturday while attending the Jazz Festival. While trying to go to the Jazz Festival, we parked at Taste and my friend (who goes to Taste for lunch almost weekly with her office because of the location not the food...) went inside and asked if we could park in their back parking lot. We were told it was fine and we left for the festival. An hour after that, I went back to the car to pick up something for my 8 month old baby and a woman stormed out of Taste ordering me to leave. I told her I had previously gotten authorization to park and asked her to check. She refused to check and told me I was lying. She insisted on making a scene which made my poor son cry and ordered me to leave her (mostly empty) parking lot. I will never ever go back to this restaurant and will make sure everybody I know boycotts it too. Based on the other reviews on this site, most people agree anyway that their food and service are awful. I wonder how long they will stay in business with such an arrogant attitude and poor service. Cons: Staff more

Disappointed in food and service 6/27/2009

My family and I were completely disappointed in our food and lack of service last night at Taste. We have eaten at Taste a number of times over the past few years and find that the service and food quality are a little worse each time we have tryed eating at Taste. Last night was the worst dinning experience yet and the last time we will ever go to Taste. Our food came out of the kitchen one meal at a time over a period of 20 to 30 minutes. I would like to suggest to the owner of Taste, (who was present and in the kitchen), that it is totally improper to serve dinners one at a time to a family - party of five, especially over such a long period of time. The reasons are obvious... BAD FOOD COMBINED WITH BAD SERVICE = OUT OF BUSINESS. Good bye Taste. Pros: use to be great before new mgmt took over Cons: very slow service followed by bad food needs new mgmt more

Great place to hang with friends 3/22/2009

The small portions are wonderful. If you are watching what you eat or just wanting to try a little bit of everything then this will be perfect for you and your friends. The drinks are off the chain, not over powering but just enough kick to let you know you are not drinking kool aid. I will be back soon. Pros: Great food & drinks Cons: Parking more

Taste....sort of missing the wind 8/16/2007

In the world of potential, Taste is tops: it's in an area to be envied, the restaurant interior has something catchy about it and at glance the menu appears delectable. Unfortunately, potential is only the foundation for success...The restaurant calls its portions California plates, so appetizer sized plates known in Spain as tapas. I started with a cocktail and the Gorgonzola cheese tart. When a guy orders Gorgonzola and the waitress say ""excellent choice"" you certainly don't anticipate a semi-warm baked good void of the character that makes Gorgonzola a cheese star. The side chips were fried pita that were stale to sometimes stale and soggy. The tart was not bad in terms of taste, but wasn't special. I didn't taste much like Gorgonzola and while the waitress thought the choice excellent, i would rather have cut fresh Gorgonzola for at least there would have been bold predictability about it. I then had a shrimp spear and a steak spear. The steak was served on a skewer and was accompanied with a verde sauce that I identified as tomatillo. The steak was tender and the dipping sauce perfectly acidic and complimentary. The steak was the shining star of the night. I then enjoyed the shrimp spear, which was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. My big complaint is the dipping sauce was a flavored mayonnaise. Something seemed awfully awry when such a HEAVY sauce accompanied something so light. The sauce really made the plate a miss. Don't fret, like any good foody I find the drink an important accompaniment to any good meal. Remember that cocktail? Weak. The wine? They had a reasonable selection, but at the end of the day without pizazz in the food the wine seemed more like something additional to pay for...I quit after two! The oddity of the joint was everyone in there seemed to know the wait staff and it almost felt like there was a popular click and I was the odd one out...the odd one out with a class of 15 total people in the restaurant of course. In the end, 2 stars Pros: Good area, reasonable atmosphere Cons: Food, wait staff and complete lack of others more

Best Tapas in Orlando 12/20/2006

They offer very different menu items here that are all so wonderful. Our server was so nice and explained every item to us in detail, they also have a decent wine list as well. Not too crowded, which we had no idea why, the food is just awesome! Pros: Great food, good price, not crowded Cons: Parking more

This place leaves you with a bad TASTE 9/2/2006

Service: The restaurant echoed it was so empty yet the service was very slow. Normally I would be upset about that but the server was so arrogant it was nice not to hear his voice very often. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Food and service more

Great Atmosphere! Beautiful Lighting! Great FOOD! 8/27/2006

I am like most people I am never satisfied with just what I order I always want to try other peoples' food. Taste is great for sharing a bunch of things and the wine prices are great compared to other restaurants who charge twice as much per glass for the same wines, it's a chill atmosphere for hanging out with friends you wont feel rushed everything I had was good I really liked the fish tacos and the pork, for lunch the soup is always good. If you don't eat meat Taste has alot of options for you. Pros: Food, service more

For Those Tired of the Same Old Menu Offerings 7/24/2005

We're amazed people weren't lined up at the door waiting to get in. This food is some of the best in Orlando, prepared with the greatest attention to detail, bursting with fresh flavors. Best of all, it is not the same old menu you get everywhere else. We had the trio tapenade spreads with flat bread (garlic, tangy roasted red pepper, and calmada olive spreads.) My husband was in heaven with his goat cheese spread/fall-apart, slightly spicy & so tender roasted pork/and wonderful herbed mushroom dish. I had the roasted red pepper stuffed with chicken, served on field greens with whole mushrooms, green pepper slices, and shaved parmesan cheese. We loved the smaller portion idea, giving us a chance to try more dishes. Sharing dishes is actually encouraged! Everything was stellar, can't wait to go back. There were numerous other dishes on the menu we can't wait to ""taste."" Pros: Stellar Food!, Diverse, Unusual Menu, Sm Portions-Try Many Cons: not suitable for kids more
