I have used them many times before and been somewhat satisfied. In the past I have dealt with drivers with their kids riding up front, drivers carrying a huge pile of tires in the trunk and a car which was completely missing the side panel of the back right door. Without question, the most disgusting cars I have ever seen in a taxi fleet. But what took the cake for me was when I called recently when it was 92 degrees outside and asked for a taxi, which I was assured would show up in 15 minutes. After sitting out in the burning hot sun for 45 minutes I was fed up. I had called repeatedly and the dispatcher never picked. I ended up then having to go on a 45 minute walk to where I was going. Thanks a lot Tar Heel Taxi, I'll be sure to never use you again and tell anyone who asks how poorly managed of a company you are. I ended up somewhere in Durham and I desperately needed a ride back to the UNC campus. I decided to call Tar Heel Taxi, and in no time, I was on my way. The driver was very friendly and even sparked a conversation with me. After a smooth and comfortable ride back, the I paid the driver a reasonable price and gave him a good tip. I now know who to call next time I need a ride in the Chapel Hill area! more

If you enjoy going down to Franklin street and visiting a few bars- this is a great service to call to get you home safely! I can always rely on Tar Heel Taxi to come pick me up, and when they say that they have someone on the way- they mean it. They do a great job of sending out the appropriate size vehicle for large groups. The rate is reasonable, especially to know that you and your friends are getting home safely.
