I've eaten at Liberty Valance since it opened in 1976. They have always had decent food at reasonable prices. They have always had a smoking section. However, when the ""no smoking"" law went into effect in December they chose to ignore the law and simply posts signs allowing people to continue smoking and warn people to enter at their own risk. The restaurant is now a smoker's haven and the second hand smoke is unbearable. If the practices that are in place at Liberty Valance are legal and this is all that is necessary to step around the ""no smoking"" law, then our legislators have wasted their time and the law is a joke! My family went out to Liberty Valance for dinner tonight and my sister had a coupon that costs $10 and allows $25 off your bill. We were leaving and the hostess came and caught us at the door and claimed that we had tried to print the coupon twice and use it a second time. I don't get this angry very often in a public place. After we left my sister mentioned that the woman said they don't recover the discount from the website , they just get their menu posted and the advertising. So they weren't going to get the $25 from the website yet they collected the money from us claiming it was a bogus coupon. It was insulting and it was a rip-off. We won't be dining there again. I love going to this restaurant because the food is great and the staff is friendly! Karaoke is a blast and the drinks are excellent. I usually arrive there on friday night to be welcomed by the friendly staff. I order rib combo, which is fresh, mouth-watering, tender and very tasteful. Also the karaoke is so much fun. Sandy who operates the karaoke is a fun-spirited person who has a wide selection of songs and if she don't have your favorite song for you to sing she'll get if for you. She also has a lovely voice. The managers of this fine establishment are kind, friendly, and strive to give customer satisfaction. I just love this bar and restaurant. This is dining and karoake at it's best! Love this place. Best steaks in Richmond. Especially when they are served on that sizzling plate. I am sorry that they changed the parking arrangement. Little far to walk. Miss the covered wagon. Prices are good and love the old west atmosphere. more
