Awful Food 1/23/2011

Went in for lunch on a Sat. Ordered Spanakopita, which was cold, and looked like it was from the day before, if not older. The vegetables also looked like they were from the day before. The broccoli was more brown than green. The potatoes were okay. The service was okay, but the waiter never came back and asked how our meal was. When he asked if I wanted a to go box, I stated no. When he saw that most the food was still on my plate, he should have asked if there was a problem with the food. Had a 50% off 2nd entree coupon, and now I know why they are having to send them out. Maybe they should spend the money they pay for the coupons, and get a new cook. Didn't complain, as I was with a client, but will be writing a letter to the Owner/Manager. more

Very disappointed 12/22/2009

We ordered take-out from Tantalus through Dinner Delivery Plus. After carefully reading the menu, we specifically ordered dishes with no rice and extra vegetables(because we are not able or eat wheat or refined carbs). The Pesto Chicken dish arrived with pasta in it (not stated on the menu) and the Lemonato Pork was breaded and deep fried to the point that it was rubbery and dry (literally could not chew it). Also, the menu stated that there was a white wine sauce on the Lemonato. There was a clear absence of a sauce of any kind. Finally the Mousaka was horrible. The menu stated that it was topped with a creamy beshemel sauce and parmesan. Instead it had a strange 1/4 inch crust on the top (like polenta), reminding me of a greek shepards pie. We called dinner delivery plus and they handled the problem beautifully. The representative contacted the resturant on our behalf and we were refunded for the Lemonata and Pesto Chicken (since they did not arrive as described). The resturant reported that they have always done their dishes that way and they always put pasta in the Pesto Chicken dish - Really? Pasta and rice in the same dish? If I could give them 0 stars I would. Dinner Delivery Plus, on the other hand, gets 5 stars. Cons: Food is not authentic and inaccurately described on the menu more

One of the Best Restaurant Experiences I've Ever Had! 12/4/2009

I deeply enjoyed my time at the Tantalus due to our waiter's attentive service. He was enjoyable to talk with and explained much about Greek food, where he comes from, the culture differences between there and America, etc. etc. He was not intrusive, but only made real conversation when we initiated it. The atmosphere was inviting and warm, and the food was extraordinarily good. Very authentic, original, inviting place. I went with my Husband and my Mom for a fun dinner out and we are very glad we tried the Tantalus. We will be back! Pros: Amazing, very personable service. Cons: ?? more

Cute little restaurant 10/29/2009

They have a wonderful selection of delicious reasonably priced food. The service is great when you take into account that there is only one waiter serving the whole place. They are sooo friendly! I feel like family every time I come which has been for the past six years. Don't listen to the negative nancys! Pros: Great food, great service, great atmosphere, great wine Cons: Small more

Mall fair at triple the price 6/10/2009

Overly priced for below average greek food. At $12 a plate for food that's barely beats Gyro world in the mall! Same your time and money, there's tons of better greek places, including Gyro stands. Pros: none Cons: taste more

As Close To Greece as the Eastside Gets 6/7/2008

Looking for authentic Greek food while you?re on the Eastside? Then you have to go to Tantalus in Issaquah.\r This family owned bistro is friendly and inviting. The dishes are proportioned and delicious. Not to be missed is their Tzatziki sauce. Very reasonable prices, great wine list are the norm.\r The friendly proprietor is always there, and the pride of ownership shows.\r Emmanuel Fonte more

This place is HORRIBLE!!!!! Terrible customer service and rude staff. 11/27/2007

I read several bad reviews about this place but decided to give it a try anyway. In retrospect, I should?ve paid attention to the past reviews. This place is absolutely HORRIBLE! Not only is the food mediocre, at best, the staff and owner are incredibly rude. I was yelled at, insulted and bullied when I tried to use my 2008 Entertainment Book coupon (it was a valid coupon and they should have honored it). When I tried to discuss the matter with them, they flat out ignored me and threw my bill at me. Don?t ever go here. . . you will definitely regret it if you do. more

Cold Mashed Potatoes on a Sunny Day 9/4/2004

Are ice-cold mashed potatoes really a traditional refreshing Greek treat, or was their microwave just on the fritz? Seeing as the food quality was slightly above average, however the portions were unsuitable for an actual meal. The aforementioned ice-potato production cost around $7 for around 2 or 3 spoonfulls, and the gyros contained around half as much meat as the typical gyro restaurant. more

a 10? Are you serious? 6/20/2002

If this is your idea of perfect Greek/Mediterranean food, you should get out more. I've been to this restaurant 3 times, and the food is very mediocre and the service spotty. Try the Mediterranean Kitchen on Bellevue Way. more
