Food from the Indian Subcontinent 2/7/2010

With so many restaurants from the subcontinent in Phoenix area, it could be a tough decision to pick a place especially if you are a vegetarian or in mood for Indian vegetarian food. However if you want to try a variety of foods from the subcontinent, the selection narrows down quickly to a few restaurants in the greater Phoenix area. The Tandoori Village is one of those places where you can go and enjoy either Indian vegetarian food or a choice of meat dishes and are not even offered in some other places. The food is not overly spicy so you can safely order any dish without having to worry about if you can handle it or not. There is large menu selection, the portions are generous and served such that a family can share a variety of dishes and try a little bit of everything. The prices are very reasonable. The place is clean and pleasant and the service is fairly quick and courteous. Highly recommended for couples and families for a night out. Pros: Veriety of dishes, reasonable prices, clean more

This is not an Indian restaurant in any regard. It's very much a Pakastani restaurant meaning they can't cook anything other than meat. Their vegetable sabji's and dahl was bland and lacked flavor. Their service is horrible. The waitstaff is not Indian or Pakastani and thus they are unfamiliar with the dishes and can't advise on selections. They took a long time to take our orders and then another 45 minutes just to bring the food out. The strengths of this restaurant include it's price, it's curries and it's bread. It's naan is amazing is huge. Their bread has substance to it and isn't like some dishrag that they serve at other restaurants Pros: curries, naan, price Cons: sabji's and all vegetarian dishes, service, restaurant is dirty more
