I have been going here now for three years. I don't know that it is as good as it was when they opened, however I have always gone away happy. I found it walking someplace else, a...

Very good fast food Japanese 10/26/2005

Very good fast food Japanese restaurant. Their lunch specials are inexpensive and good, and though others have complained about the quality of some of the food, I've never had a problem. Very good service. Family owned, so they're closed on Mondays and some Tuesdays. As to the authenticity, sure, it's not daring in any stretch of the imagination, but on the other hand, I've seen plenty of old Japanese folks who live in central Garden Grove/Stanton stopping by on weekdays for lunch, so it can't be that Americanized. One of the best restaurants in the area, and certainly the best Japanese in this area. It's a place we keep coming back to. more

Small place, with great food 10/22/2005

If you are in the area of Stanton, swing by Taiyo. It is in a shopping center. The biggest downfall is that this restaurant is difficult to find. How they stay in business amazes me. They used to be near a Ralph's, now out of business. So there is no major landmark to spot Taiyo. The restaurant is small as well. It is small and quaint. If you get there kind of late, you may have to wait, but the food is WELL worth it. The food is very good. The service is even better. The girls that work there are very sweet and kind. The best foods are their Taiyo specials, sushi, or even their curry udon. Try it all, it's worth it. The nice part is, if you spend over $5.00 you can have a free soda or free miso soup. The miso soup is another item that is just great! more

Good Japanese Food 9/14/2005

This is a small Japanese restaurant. It is very quaint. The girls that work there are very hard working, and the cooks are always working hard to get you your food as fast as possible. The food is very good, but not as authentic as a REAL japan type of restaurant, but the flavor is there, and that is all that matters. The nice thing that happens, is that if you order a meal, you get to choose a free soft drink or miso soup. The only real downfall is to try to get there at a decent hour that is not crowded, which is almost every night and weekend. You mainly have to wait outside to get a table because it is so crowded and the space is that small. more

Good Japanese Food 8/22/2005

For Japanese food that is not too authentic, it is very good. Their California rolls are good, but not like a REAL California roll made at Japanese restaurants. The sesame chicken is very good. The only downfall is that it is fried, and it is a little oily, but very good in taste. The great thing is anything you spend over, I think, $5.00, you get either a free soda or miso soup. Get water and get the soup. The soup is very good. They do take out as well. The only downfall about it, is that at lunch time and a few nights during the weekend, it gets very crowded, and there is limited seating. Have a nice time, and try the curry udon (their best udon) and order a side of vegetable tempura. Dip the tempura in the curry and eat with the udon. A masterpiece. more
