I don't know of any place in Atlanta where the chef often times takes your order, prepares mouthwatering yet unpretentious food, serves it to you and rings up your purchase. Everything about this place seems to be done with love. Mr Collins always remembers my name and my favorite choices (Meatloaf Blueplate Special and anything underneath his amazing tomato sauce) Plus I can pick up basic groceries, shop for antiques, items by local artists, and the "penny candy" counter takes me back to my childhood. Going to TW Collins is like coming home! Pros: totally unique, untrendy, quality/consistency Cons: can be crowded more

  • The Scene
Nestled in the basement of an Inman Park Victorian, this old-fashioned corner store bustles with locals ducking in for milk, Moon Pies and addictive pressed sandwiches. Customers navigate crowded aisles of assorted canned goods and candy bins to get to the deli counter. Most folks get their food to go, but the grocery does offer a single Formica table. A small patio provides additional seating.

    The Food

Chef/owner Todd Collins deftly prepares an eclectic assortment of creative sandwiches and hearty lunchtime fare. Pressed sandwiches, like the tangy marinated vegetable and mozzarella cheese wonder known as Fanny's Favorite, star. The aptly named Funky Monkey is another winner. It boasts a liberal smearing of peanut butter and Nutella, along full banana halves. (Bacon fans should try the Funky Monkey Jane.) Other offerings include frittatas, seasonal soups and chili, along with a revolving selection of deli standards. Muffins, saucer-sized cookies and scones served with frothy espresso drinks make a fine dessert.
