Awful Staff & Management 8/15/2010

This is the worst excuse for a hotel that I have ever come across. My two children and I traveled down the CA coast from the SF Bay area all week and our final destination was here. We never got to stay here because Amol (the so called MGR) decided it wasn't worth it for him for us to stay there. He tried to run my credit card at 1:00 in the afternoon (long before our arrival) on the day I was to arrive. When the card declined, he tried calling me. He didn't leave a message and I didn't recognize the number on the missed call so I didn't return the call. Later that afternoon, I got another call from this number only this time I heard it and answered.\r \r Amol, proceeded to tell me that my card had declined and when I told him that I had another card, He began yelling at me and arguing with me accusing me of intentionally booking the room on an invalid card. After trying to convince him (without success) that I had not known the card was at its limit, he hung up on me.\r \r Luckily more

Stupefyingly horrible experience 4/9/2010

Something weird is going on at the Travelodge La Mesa. I thought our experience was absolutely bizarre and horrible, but if you look for other comments on Google or travel sites they describe exactly the same scenario, going back years! I found more than 40. Everyone says "I can't believe what just happened!" I looked at other Travelodge reviews, to see if this kind of thing just happens at budget hotels, but no. Only this hotel has dozens of these nightmare reports in multiple reviews on multiple sites. Apparently it's like Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde; they seem very nice and then suddenly they turn on you. This review is a summary of our experience and others. \r \r Here is what happens: You check into the hotel, or try to check in, and then they "catch" you doing something. This might include parking 2 cars in their empty parking lot (one car violation!), or having a baby and 4 adults in a room (four persons max!), or having a visitor (sneaking in!). Or you commit some "sin" like more

Not worth staying 11/14/2005

We stayed at this hotel during our trip to San Diego and wouldnt recommend to anyone. All the amenities were old, the freezer looked as if it hadnt been defrosted for years, the carpeting was ancient and the bathroom tiles all yellowish with age. The official breakfast was from 6 am-10 pm but when we reached at 7.30 all we found was half a glass of milk remaining and some pies. They never cared to replenish the food items. PROS: Location CONS: Ancient amenities more
