These negative reviews are 100% accurate. Do not use TLC for any reason. I hired them last year and my lawn looked worse than ever. Half of my front lawn died and had to be replanted from scratch. I cancelled my account, paid off my balance and now they have sent a collection agency after me for an account that has been paid in full. HORRIBLE company and they shouldn't be in business more

Horrible company. First time signing up with them and definitely the last. Claimed they were at my house twice but never left any paperwork behind. My lawn looked and felt worse than it did when i put down scotts treatment myself. I questioned them on all of this and all they kept asking for is the money. Still fighting with them over the cost because $0 is too much because i am going to have spend double next year just to get my lawn back! more

i agree with all the other reviews i got a flyer in the mail for the 5 step lawn program and that was in march they finally came mid may and have yet to see them again. They keep sending about add ons for grub, lime, aeration i am like right you can not even perform the regular service i am not adding on and there has been no change in the condition of my lawn. what a waste of money!!!!! more

I received an offer from Tlc Lawn Care Co for their 5 step lawn care plan late last winter. In the past I have always tended my lawn care myself using Scotts but now that I'm nearly age 75 I was excited about their offer and I paid them in full for all 5 treatments in advance.\r \r They never showed up for the spring (step 1) lawn treatment of fertilizer and crab grass control. As It was already mid April and Tlc would not tell me when they would come, I told them to skip step 1 and that I would do it myself using Scotts. \r \r It's been some six weeks since then and it's now time for step 2 yet Tlc has not been here. Warning!!! do not use these guys. I have more weeds and less lawn now than I ever had. I honestly think they put something down that will grow weeds. I work from home and last year watched the guy fertilize??? The longest time he was on my property was 4.5 minutes generally took him about 4 minutes to do my whole yard, front and back. This year I did not sign up but received the payment book and keep getting reminders. Have called 6 times to discuss with 1 return call wanting to discuss bill? more

THANK YOU! I received an offer in the mail from TLC last night and while I have never had a lawn service, am really busy and never have time to do more than quick mowing... so my lawn could use professional help. Due to these horrid reviews, I put the letter in the shredder and have contacted two others for quotes. That was close! more

Do not hire this company!! They sent me a letter pushing 3 lime applications @ 50 lbs per 1000 sqft each. I signed up for 1 application for my 10k sqft lawn so they should have applied 10 bags(500 lbs). I watched the tech put 3 bags in his machine and spread it over my entire lawn. I stopped him and asked how many pounds he applied and he said 15lbs per 1000 sqft. What?? I showed him the letter and he said ""oh, it must be a mistake on my paperwork. We'll have to come back and put 7 more bags down."" They did return a week later with the other 7 bags but what if I wasnt home the first time? I would have been ripped off and I'm sure a ton of their customers are being ripped off without ever knowing it. Also, the women in the office are super rude. Terrible customer service and shady business practices. Don't waste your money. more

You know, I hate when good comapnies get a bad rap. I have been using TLC for the past 5 - 6 years and my lawn looks great. All of my crab grass and weeds have disappeared and the lawn is green from spring through fall.\r \r Of course, you have to water your lawn and take care of it - which is my bet what these other people did not do. I have recommended them to several of my neighbors who have also had good experiences. more

buyer bewarem they provide crap service, then when you cancel they expect you to pay, you tell them now then they sue you in smallclaims court, what a joke... hope they like $5.00 a month.. more

Just canceled this company myself this morning. They came 3 weeks ago and laid down their first application. I phoned them last week to ask them just what they did as we had zero green left anywhere.. A rep just came out and said "" what we put down kills the weeds, if you cancel us and try to re-seed yourself, the grass will never grown because of what we put down""...Said we should wait till fall......I don't think so..... Told him to terminate their service. He walked away with his arms flaring in the air... You would think at this point they would be used to unhappy clients.. Wish I had read the reviews first.... more

I had them last year to service my loan.This year, 1st thing in the spring we start to have very tall weeds ,never had them .I think they are intentionally putting some stuff so you have a lot of weeds and you have to call them to service the loan again.I called them and they don't want to listen ,they are after $$$$$$ to give it to them ,they are saiyng that the birds are bringing the seeds and the weeds are groing.I didn't see any weeds on my neighbours loans,we are the only ones with that type of weed.People,open you eyes and search before you call and give them job.They are not acredited by the BBB. more

They provided unauthorized work and demanded that I pay the bill- even though I didn't authorize the work!! STAY AWAY- there are better, more reputable businesses to work with for lawn care more

My lawn is the worst I have ever seen it! This summer we had weeds over 6' high and thats after TLC's so called 'weed treatments'. We also had, what they called ""Tire burn"" from their treament they applied in 100 degree weather. It was so bad we had to postpone the sale of our house. The technician we had also was incompetant and left large areas untreated of which I have photographic evidence. I'm in current correspondence with their collection agency and I hope we end up in small claims court and let a judge decide who was injured here. more

I used TLC 4 years ago for my sorry lawn. This was after 2 years of treating it myself. After 2 years of using TLC my lawn never looked better. I made the mistake of trying to save $ and stopped their service for a year. My lawn looked awful. I hired them again this year and it looks great again. I can't help but think the negative reviews are not based on fact but competition more

I contracted TLC Lawn Company for the 2011 season. My initial problem was getting the first application. The finally showed after many emails and phone calls. The 2nd problems was billing. They wanted their money immediately. They were quick with the bills. The biggest problem was quality. Some techs were conscientious, others were terrible. My final application was a lick and a promise. My lawn was 75% covered with leaves on a windy November day. The tech ran around 1/2 my property, haphazardly, covering far less than the 7500 square feet. There are other companies around that will give you better service at a better price. Don't go along with their low 5 payments. It only looks like you're getting a deal. After all is said and done, you're paying more than other companies. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!! GO ELSEWHERE.... more

My mother saw these reviews and was told by her neighbors to avoid this company and she still gave them a try when they assured her the bad reviews on this site and other sites were not deserved. She is on a fixed budget with a big lawn and can't do this all herself so the price was right for her. This company will tell you they are coming to provide service and come weeks late. Treating a lawn for a full season requires following a schedule and I am certain that the fact they missed critical windows for treatment contributed to my mother's lawn looking horrible. Absolutely the worst it has ever been! Then, they have the nerve to send a letter offering to fix our lawn for $1000 because it is not looking very good! Stay Away! more

I just realized something (added 2/16/12) what none of us has mentioned and that is their ""100% satisfaction guarantee."" We should not have to do anything other than express our dissatisfaction in order to get our money returned. I received the papers from the small claims court in Worcester (I live in Fairhaven.) I have responded quoting this guarantee and hope that the judge agrees with their breach of contract. Added 2/18/12: I am disabled and trying to live on social security disability and cannot get as far as Providence much less Worcester. (I live in Fairhaven between New Bedford and the Cape.) As such I don't think the Court will hold it against me though I don't know of course. I kept thinking there was something wrong with TLC because how could a business be so badly run and offer no customer service but still stay in business. I think we have become so used to disappointment that we just don't file for every situation of poor or no work. Just watch NBC 10 WJAR to see some of the problems that make people go to the news people because they can't afford to take the tradesmen to court plus they are afraid to do so. TLC counts on this and says they have 12,000 satisfied customers but I very much doubt this I used to have my own business before I got sick and would not have got or retained any clients with an attitude like Robin's and the principals. I assume the owners know what is going on but they are in the field spraying rather than keeping track of what will close their business eventually. I asked the Court to order them to return monies paid prior to dropping them. Similar to the others, my lawn had never been treated in 15 years but after two treatments and one $60 extra for black spot, all it missed was the chopped up pickups on the front yard. then they offer what the lawns really need at 100's of dollars. The low monthly fee was a come on so they could destroy the yard then we would be desparate for them to heal it. I have used Scotts 4 step program on my lawn every year for the past 5 years. My Lawn is USUALLY dark green and one of the best on the street. I have had no issues until this year. I decided to go with the lawn company to treat my lawn since the price for the year was cheaper then doing it myself with Scotts. I figured what the hell, these guys should know what they are doing. My lawn BEFORE they came was dark green just like every year. They came out, did 1 application and the next day my lawn started showing several brown spots. A week later and my lawn is looking like a mid summer drought, (and I have a sprinkler system). I call them up and it takes a week to send out a tech to look at it. They tell me its a fungus and to treat it will be an additional $60. BULLSH**!! This is their scam I guess, Don't be their next victim....Do it yourself and save all the headaches... TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW! Put these crooks out of business!!!!!!!!!! more
