Best

Need a kid-friendly spot to relax with a good cup of coffee and gelato? Teo has you covered. Flavors like Cookies and Cream will satisfy little ones, while grown-ups might opt for...

Worst

Drinks were good but not sure I'll be returning. The owner seems like a jackass to the patrons and employees. Not impressed.

Go Teo Go 3/11/2009

I go to Teo once or twice a week and love their skinny latte and currant scone. They maintain a friendly, comfortable environment to hold an informal business meeting or to just surf the internet. They post sections of the Wall Street Journal on their ""news wall"" with paperclips, which is a great way to get caught up on the day's news before I head out to the office. more

mean owner 1/6/2009

I came in there the other day, hoping to get fast service for a latte to go (the latte's are great by the way). However, one girl who was working was pulled in the back room by the owner. So I waited.... and suddenly, I heard screaming, cussing, and banging coming from the back room! Many minutes later the poor girl came out with tears rolling down her face. She walked out of the store, looking like she was going to ball her eyes out as soon as she left. I couldn't believe it! Who treats their employees, let alone a young woman that way? I left immediately after. I refuse to support a business that treats people in such a way! Their products aren't good enough to keep me coming back after that. Cons: mean mean owner more

Go for the gelato, but don't forget the coffee! 11/11/2008

It had been a while since I indulged at Teo's so I had high expectations--I wasn't disappointed. Lots of new flavors to taste (they let you try as many as you like before you decide) in both gelatos and sorbettos. They have always had the best pistachio in town, but didn't have that flavor that day. I consoled myself with a serving of salted caramel and peanut butter with Nutella (another way to eat Nutella-yeah!). Pros: variety of unusual flavors of gelato, amazing coffee Cons: can be noisy with kids more

They have always had the best pistachio in town, but didn't have that flavor that day. I consoled myself with a serving of salted caramel and peanut butter with Nutella (another way to eat Nutella-yeah!). I noticed that there have been some changes to the interior of the place, and they added paninis to the menu--I will have to go back to try those before I write a review. I did get an espresso to go and it was great. The place was busy, but not crowded. Lots of children were in and out while I was there so there were some sticky tables, But the server was friendly and by herself, so I give them a pass for the afternoon. As the seasons change and we get a few cooler days, I hope they turn on the fireplace on the patio--its a lovely place to go to after dinner for coffee and dessert. Pros: variety of unusual flavors of gelato, amazing coffee Cons: can be noisy with kids more

Just very SO-SO gelato!! 10/25/2008

I was told that Teo was the best gelato place in Austin. Well, I went there and...... I was not disappointed, but I was not stunned either. They sell very average ice cream which tastes like lots of sugar. In Italy, you really taste a FLAVOR, not so much sugar. The customer service was okay. No, I would not recommend Teo. But perhaps somewhere In Austin there IS a place which make a flavorful Italian ice cream. The trick is to discover it..... more

If this is the Best gelato in Austin, then we need to trade up 7/27/2008

Yesterday I had a need for gelato so my wife and I went out to find a place. First stop was closed down then we found our way to Teo's. We were happy as the sign said 2008 winner of best gelato etc... Pros: big portions for a reasonable price Cons: just not that good, service, cleanliness more

If this is the Best gelato in Austin, then we need to trade up 7/26/2008

Yesterday I had a need for gelato so my wife and I went out to find a place. First stop was closed down then we found our way to Teo's. We were happy as the sign said 2008 winner of best gelato etc... Honestly it was just ok. Sure I've been to Florence Italy which is the birthplace and best gelato on the planet...but I wasn't expecting that. Heck we found a place in Portland, OR that was amazingly close...but here in Austin...not even close. The coconut and german chocolate were good, so was the chocolate and lemon....but just good. If you boast the best it better be at least great gelato. I will give them one thing - the give large portions. But we come to expect that with all the chubbiness of Texas. (I am too so I can say that). Service...poor. Some tall teen to 20 something guy who barely talked above a grunt helped us and didn't show a sign of life until I tipped $2. He co-worker was a punkish girl who took 1/2 the trash out and left 2 bag of it right by several service tables and another out front to stop and serve folks then wait another 10 minutes before she took it out. She was even less friendly that the guy. Not impressive. At least the table was clean....wait not it wasn't it was nice and stick and smelled of sour milk. Great. We'll be sticking to Amy's ice cream as this just wasn't good enough and the service kind of turned us off. Pros: big portions for a reasonable price Cons: just not that good, service, cleanliness more

RUDE & Don't Want Business 11/19/2007

WOW! My boyfriend and I live really close to this place and thought we'd check it out. We enter the place and begin looking at the Gelato and the person behind the counter says to us THEY ARE CLOSED and cannot serve us! There were people inside the establishment eathing/drinking. A couple had just purchased some items while we were walking in! All the gelato was still in the tubs... they hadn't even begun cleaning! We have not gone back and will never go back! We'd rather spend our money at places who appreciate it! Pros: hmmm..... Cons: They do not appreciate customers! more

Best gelato in town 7/20/2007

The first time I tried Teo's, the person who helped me graciously offered me a wonderful selection of samples. I love me some Amy's, but these days I find myself sidestepping Amy's just to get some Teo's! The affagoto with 1/2 dark chocolate and 1/2 vanilla will make you weep tears of joy. The service is always good here. more

Great product, but what is up with the owner 1/15/2007

The gelato and coffee at this place are wonderful but the owner is mean mean mean to his employees, which is evidenced by the fact that there's new people behind the counter every week. I started visiting the store last April and there's only one girl who I still see working there. That's probably due to the way he blatently yells at them in the back while customers are waiting. So go eat, and tip the poor kids well for what they're putting up with to serve you the best gelato in Austin. Pros: GREAT gelato and coffee Cons: mean owner more
