Review content:
Yesterday I had a need for gelato so my wife and I went out to find a place. First stop was closed down then we found our way to Teo's. We were happy as the sign said 2008 winner of best gelato etc...
Honestly it was just ok.
Sure I've been to Florence Italy which is the birthplace and best gelato on the planet...but I wasn't expecting that. Heck we found a place in Portland, OR that was amazingly close...but here in Austin...not even close.
The coconut and german chocolate were good, so was the chocolate and lemon....but just good. If you boast the best it better be at least great gelato.
I will give them one thing - the give large portions. But we come to expect that with all the chubbiness of Texas. (I am too so I can say that).
Service...poor. Some tall teen to 20 something guy who barely talked above a grunt helped us and didn't show a sign of life until I tipped $2. He co-worker was a punkish girl who took 1/2 the trash out and left 2 bag of it right by several service tables and another out front to stop and serve folks then wait another 10 minutes before she took it out. She was even less friendly that the guy. Not impressive. At least the table was clean....wait not it wasn't it was nice and stick and smelled of sour milk. Great.
We'll be sticking to Amy's ice cream as this just wasn't good enough and the service kind of turned us off.
Pros: big portions for a reasonable price
Cons: just not that good, service, cleanliness
