We arrived and were seated in an alternate ballroom even though we came at an off time 3:45 pm. Our area had one waiter with 5 tables at any given time.

A Culinary Gem 11/28/2009

I decided to treat myself to a self guided culinary tour of Phoenix for my birthday last year. I made reservations at T Cooks and was very impressed with everything. The shortribs were cooked to perfection, the duck was excellent, and the beef tenderloin was fabulous. Best of all, it's very affordable for an upscale restaurant. When you go Sunday through Thursday they have a three course menu for only $50. Pros: Affordable 3 course menu Cons: There are none more

Perfect for Ladie's Lunch 10/21/2009

sisters, future mother in law, mom, and I went to T Cooks for a celebration. We couldn't have picked a better place for us to get together, especially with my out of town family. It is so enchanting, the food is great too. Pros: amiance more

Like the chef's sampling menu 7/17/2009

Dinner with friends was a fun experience here. Glad for the fixed price menu which my wife and I both enjoyed, our friends were celebrating anniversary and went whole hog and enjoyed themselves as well. Cocktails were innovative and high quality. Considering that our menu was Italian themed we were willing to go off the fixed menu for tiramisu but none available, bit of a bummer there. Overall very nice romantic evening as expected. Pros: Romantic atmosphere, good service, cocktails, menu Cons: Fine dining ain't inexpensive, scarce parking more

Disappointed 12/8/2008

Since we have not been to T Cooks in several years, thought we'd give it a try for a holiday dinner. We were all disappointed there were only a few poinsettas for decorations. Dinner was so, so. The paella was not memorable in a good way. The short ribs were ordinary, unlike Tarbells and Vincents. The risotto was undercooked. Deserts, though, were outstanding. more

Reservations Needed 7/1/2008

This is a great restaurant with some of the best food in The Valley. I highly recommend making reservations on OpenTable if you are going to dine here since you need reservations anyways. Not only will you build up those OpenTable points for a free meal, but T.Cook's will be able give you really good service. They always know what my drink and food preferences are and can always recommend something that I like. I know we don't have an reservation culture here in Scottsdale/Phoenix, but it is so totally worth it. You won't be disappointed at T.Cooks. Pros: Quaint and quiet - great for private parties Cons: must make reservations - but use OpenTable and turn it into a Pro! more

Better than average 10/18/2007

The food and service at T Cooks is good, it is not on the same level as an old Phoenix favorite, Denny's on Van Buran. It is so unfortunate that it closed. Well, not for T. Cooks. With them gone, they have regained the number 1 spot. more

My favorite Breakfast spot 11/2/2006

T Cook's serves amazing food in a beautiful ambiance. While it's better known as a fine dining spot, I love to go here for breakfast. The all you can eat Sunday brunch is a little out of my price range at 29.95, but the a-la-carte options, at between $8-$10, are all within reason. Their take on eggs benedict is not to be missed. Like the lunch and dinner options, the breakfast menu changes seasonally, with a focus on fresh flavors and high quality offerings. My husband regularly orders the house smoked salmon plate which comes with about a half pound of salmon sliced so thin you can see though it. I'm not the biggest smoked salmon fan and even I love it. We've been here about a dozen times, 11 of them for breakfast, and have never had a less than exceptional experience. Pros: beautiful ambiance, fantastic service, great patio Cons: revervations necessary, not good for children more

top 3 restaurant in PHX 10/25/2006

this is one of the most intimate, romantic hotel restuarants i have been too. opt for patio seating. dont worry if its cold. u are in an enclosed area with heat lamps. in the court yard. Lots of candle lighting. very rustic/tuscan villa type. service was excellent and i belive the maitre'd names is paul. very gracious and hospitable host. must trys: pear and candied walnut mixed greens, mussels (appetizer), paella(AWSOME), seasonl fruit creme brulee (nice twist they do to it) afterwards be sure to take a walk around the grounds. absolutley stunning. this place is all about intimacy and mood lighting Pros: beautiful hotel, beautiful food Cons: nothing more

Favorite restaurant! 7/15/2006

This is one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in the world. Anything you get here will be absolutely phenomenal, and the service is impeccable. I usually come at least once whenever I am in the city, and the host is just oustanding. One time I was with my parents and the service was a little slower than usual and the waiter took quite a long time to take our order and had JUST ran out of a dish I was ordering (literally a minute before), the host came over and apologized profusely, saying how this was not up to T. Cook's standards whatsoever (and we didn't even complain at all!) and comp'ed all of our entrees and wine! And THEN, the waitress ordered us the restaurant's three best desserts on the house as well! So the bill was only for our salads/appetizers! And only because the service was a little slow! It was absolutely phenomenal service... I was so impressed. And again, we didn't utter ONE word of complaint about the slowness. Pros: INCREDIBLE food, PHENOMENAL service, gorgeous restaurant Cons: Maybe expensive, but ABSOLUTELY worth it! more

Nice and Peaceful Place 12/24/2005

I was driving by at the night of x'mas eve, it was bright and attractive , so we went in..and had a drink and apptiz at the courtyard , very nice and beautiful.. Pros: beautiful courtyard, fresh drinks / juices, friendly service Cons: taking too long more

WAY OVERRATED!! 11/1/2005

I heard tons of exceptional reviews on the restaurant so I was really excited when my boyfriend took me there for my birthday dinner. I was definitely awed by the beautiful courtyard, fireplace and the patio seatings. Things started off really great, until the food was served. The bread was cold, the lobster bisque was mediocre, and my duck entree was way too salty. To top it all off, they brought out my birthday dessert with some else's name on it & served to my boyfriend! We had ordered their signature dessert, cheesecake creme brulee, and it was no better than other creme brulee from AJ's. So much for exceptional food, service and attetion to details!!! Would I recommend this place? Definitely not for dinner. You won't get your money's worth. Maybe for drinks at the bar. They do serve great Muscat and you'll still get to enjoy the ambience. Pros: Free valet parking, Great patio seatings Cons: Expensive more

Best in Phoenix 7/15/2005

I can't believe this was not rated #1. It is the most wonderful place to take that special someone to enjoy a night of ambiance. The food is great but beware of holidays when the prices can go out of this world. I took three women there for one holiday that cost me $1200.....wow. It was good but beware of the pre-planned package deals, that is when it gets very expensive ($250.00 per person plus tip). more

Best Romantic Restaurant? 5/29/2005

The atmosphere is one of sheer Mediterranean beauty. Arrive early and have a glass of wine in the courtyard. We sat inside, but the patio seating looks equally pleasant. Describing the food outstanding does not do it justice. When making the reservations, they inquired if this was a special occasion. When desert came, Happy 5th Anniversary was drizzled on the rim of the plate in dark chocolate. Nice touch! All told, it was about a two hour dining experience, so there were plenty of opportunities to gaze into each others eyesin between courses, naturally. UPDATE: we returned for our 6th anniversary, and we had the same waitress. Would you believe she actually remembered us from the previous year? Thats quality service! Pros: Exquisite food, Beautiful setting, Business casual dress more

One of the most amazing places... 1/17/2005

I travel a great deal and I have stayed at some of the best hotels and eaten at great restaurants. The Royal Palms and T Cooks restaurant together are one of the best overall dining/ambiance experiences in the U.S. Enjoy the outdoor dining and stroll around the grounds before and after dinner. The food is superb, the service is awesome... a fine evening for those who like a somewhat casual, but first-class dining experience. (Chris X. Moloney--Dallas, TX & St. Louis, MO) Pros: Ambiance, Grounds/hotel, Seafood/dining Cons: , inside is a step down, Pro: No Kids! more

Simply Outstanding! 8/29/2004

Fantastic food, fantastic service, very romantic. The head maitre d' (and director of romance) Paul is a credit to his profession....extremely professional, friendly and discreet. I think his title is a little cheesy but the restaurant and he are not. It's set at a very upscale small boutique hotel, The Royal Palms. more

Wife Wonderland 2/8/2003

I took my wife for a mid morning breakfast on a Saturday . The food was diverse and enjoyable, with a lovely presentation. We enjoyed eating outdoors by the croquet lawn, I found it relaxing and peaceful. A quiet stroll around the Mediterranean/southwest courtyard and grounds was every bit as romantic as the meal. We made a morning out of it and visited the farmers market in Vincent's parking lot just down the street-she loved it. Pros: Beautiful surrounding, great ambiance, romantic setting Cons: awkward parking more
