Predatory Lender 8/3/2010

Last year we had had some trouble with our mail and a couple payments as well as other mail were lost. A couple months went by before we were notified that the payments hadn't been received which allowed late fees to incur. I could prove that the checks had been written but that didn't help because they had never been cashed. My husband spoke to them about this and they agreed to wave the late fees. Yet the account statement that I received a months later showed that they had not removed the late fees rather they had applied the double payment that they had received that month to the late fees that they supposedly had removed instead of applying it to the loan. Then this year I missed a payment and to make up for it the next month I sent extra money to cover half of the missed payment. When speaking to the account manager Mr. Tucker I explained to him what I had done and that I would send the balance of the missing payment and late fees with the next months payment. He said that that would be fine. A few months later Mr. Tucker calls me to say that I was past due on the account and when I argued the fact with him he then informs me that because of the way their system is set up that any money owed needed to be paid in full and that the extra money I had sent with my payments was not applied to the amount past due but rather the principal so I was in perpetually behind even though I thought the account was caught up. I have NEVER heard of a lender with this practice. Normally payments are applied to past due amounts before they are applied to the principal. Even so I should have been informed of this policy when I had spoken to Mr. Tucker several months prior. I wanted to make a formal complaint about this to the owner but was informed that he does not work at the store and if i have a problem I need to take it up with Mr. Tucker, unfortunately Mr. Tucker is the problem. This situation has not been resolved at the moment I will update when it is. Cons: Deceptive Contracts, Rude Employees more

Will take my business elsewhere 10/28/2009

Outside of the extremely high prices this music shop is filled with rude and unhelpful staff. My daughter is having some issues playing her trumpet this year. Her band director suggested we try a different size mouth piece. We stopped in to find out our options and the staffs simply suggested we switch her to a different instrument. Her heart belongs to the trumpet after 5 years of band. She is not willing to just give up because Sweetman told her to. They we just not helpful at all!! How is selling me a new instrument my only option? Did I mention they are rude? Please think twice before offering these people your business. We did purchase here starter instrument here. Very over priced. Pros: Provide service through the school band Cons: extremly expensive more

Unbelievable 7/30/2008

I have purchased a violin with this company and had 2 more instruments which I have been renting. I have always paid consistently and on time. I am close to pay off on both insrtruments and called regarding a repair for one and to get the pay off balance and to change the other instrument to a trumpet- all legal within the contracts. I pay a service fee every month- they would not come to fix the trombone when in the past they have offered to come to the house- my son has marching band- they only come during the school year to schools- they told me I was paying for a used instrument when buying the trombone and would have to pay an another hundred dollars for a new one at the end of the contract- what is the point of the contract- equity goes toward a new instrument I thought- I guess contracts are always up for change- How rude can a company be? Pros: I was hopeful but have nothing good to say Cons: RUDE, change contract close to pay off, customer definitely not important more

Missed 1 payment! 5/27/2008

I missed one payment on this payment plan and they turned me into a credit bureau! Nasty one at that....I do not think this company is unique or in the best interest of anyone.... Pros: non Cons: many more

Waaaay Expensive 12/3/2007

A musical instrument was sent in needing 5 pads replaced (any more than 1 hour of labor for this job is excessive). An estimate was given of $450! When the cork does not need replaced, and there are no broken springs, an overhaul is not needed. more
