Excellent champagne cocktails. Chef makes really good sushi specialties. The menu is nice size & offers many different options.

Yumm! 3/20/2011

My boyfriend and I heard about swanky bubbles from a friend so we decided to try it out. Our first experience was great! we were seated in a quiet two top in the back and ordered two delicious drinks and two rolls of sushi. The sushi was so good that we had to get another round! The waitress was very nice and didn't rush us out. we could sit and enjoy ourselves which was very nice. I really enjoyed the cool colors of the restaurant and the music they played. It set up the evening for a nice relaxing, romantic night! Also, we were lucky enough to see Ryan Howard who was seated a table away from us! We were so happy with our first visit that we decided to celebrate valentines day there. The second time the food didn't let us down but the service did. Our waiter was too casual and no sense of urgency when taking care of us. I had to ask for refills too many times. In a restaurant as nice as this and as expensive as this that should NOT be happening. I highly recommend going here! If you have the money and are looking for a nice relaxing night or romantic evening then i say GO!! Both times I went were a night to remember and the second time we just didn't leave as good of a tip because the waiter didn't deserve it, but we didn't let him ruin our night! ;) more

Hair in my food:repulsive! 12/16/2009

On November 14, 2009 two friends & I dined at Swanky Bubbles in Old City. There was hair in the sicky fried rice had HAIR in it, yuck. The hair was rolled inside the rice. more

There are too many other good options in Old City... 12/14/2009

Food was basic Asian fusion.. sometimes you expect more from Old City. The manager has extremely poor social skills and through his ""joking"" made us feel extremely unwelcome (ironically, in telling us that we should be careful what you say while eavesdropping on our conversation). This is why this business has gone downhill in the last few years- you need to make your customers feel welcome. Not impressed. Pros: Bartender Cons: Bathrooms, General Manager more

Great food $$$and Horrible service - NEVER again. 4/26/2009

Absolutely correct in all respects. This was our first (and last) time at Swanky Bubbles. We were a large group to celebrate a friends birthday. Well - the waitress (and I think also a manager - an asian lady) was quite rude and indifferent the entire time we were there. It wasn't just my impression - we all commented on it after leaving. The food is very good. No doubt about it. And the drinks are also very good. But it's not cheap - expect $50 per person with a drink or two each. i.e.: a single bottle of domestic beer is $7 and up. And that would be fine - EXCEPT for the nasty treatment by our waitress. Since our party was large we got stuck with a mandatory 20% for her hideous service. We will NEVER again go there. At $50 a head we could eat pretty much anywhere and also be treated like customers. Pros: Food Cons: Service more

Loved it! 3/31/2009

I went to Swanky Bubbles with a friend for dinner on Saturday. We had a reservation, and were seated almost immediately. We got 2 huge sushi rolls to share as well as the seared Tuna. The servicde was attentive and speedy, but not rushed. We ended up getting another roll because the first 2 were so good. The bill was right around $100 (including 4 cocktails and 2 bowls of edemame), which I thought was a great value. I'll certainly be back! Pros: Great food, good value Cons: a little small, but wasn't a problem for me more

A nice evening out 12/19/2008

My wife and I came here not long ago enjoyed the bar to its fullest. Their champagne is to die for and I don't even care for it that much usually. my wife tried the sushie and loved it I had the crab cakes and they were made very well. This place is a bit expensive but the champagne is worth it - wow! Pros: champagne Cons: expensive more

A pretty okay place 12/8/2008

I found the service good and friendly, the food was amazing but you have to share it with your friend/boyfriend or other. The Champagne was unbelievabley tasty and the various kinds were amazing. I would go back for another taste of their champagne, even my boyfriend liked it and he doesn't like champagne. The place was very small and crowded it needed a bit more room and the music should have been a little lower but overall I would go back. Pros: food, champagne Cons: music volumn, to tiny more

Unbelievably Great Food, Unbelievably Bad Service 12/3/2008

This has been one of our favorite restaurants for a while because of the great food and friendly service. However, on our most recent visit, the attitude given to our party by the manager, both before dining and after spending hundreds of dollars on cuisine and wine, was inexcusable. We will never eat there again. Furthermore, we will spread the news of our visit to our numerous groups of friends who dine there often, or should I say, used to. Nice job, guy. Pros: food Cons: management more

Very Good! 7/13/2008

I Definitely Recommend Swanky Bubbles! I am 20 and went with a group of my friends. We all enjoyed our food the music and the service! I'm vegetarian and found plenty of options. I liked the mexican roll, the veggie tempura, and the GOAT CHEESE CRISPS ^_^. my friends loved the chicken satay, dragon roll, and the banana boat dessert. we couldn't have any drinks :( (we were even carded at the door once), but the other patrons seemed pleasantly buzzed. The only cons are the stairs to the bathroom (the top stairs slant down and the bottom stairs slant up) 0.o and not everything on the menu is to die for. (lobster rissotto, crabcakes) . Pros: good food, prompt seating, capable waitstaff, private bathroom stall Cons: stairs to bathroom, parking more

Delicious Champagne 6/24/2008

Consistently Great! 6/17/2008

I have been to this restaurant about 5 times, needless to say I love it here!! The staff is nice and the service is great. The food is for sharing so this place is great for groups but even good for alone time with your special person. The atmosphere is really good too - romantic but yet fun. Great food and drinks. Their Lobster Risoto is wonderful, filet mignon, sushi, you bascially can't go wrong with anything you order! One of my favorite cocktails is the Purple Passion - keep them coming! I will always recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants an enjoyable night out with your wife/hubby or with a good group of friends! Perfect. The prices are great too...not over priced! They have Valet parking too which is good. Can't go wrong with Swanky Bubbles!!! Pros: food, drinks, service, atmosphere more

Great atmosphere and drinks...sushi leaves room for desire 4/7/2008

Fun bar, delicious champagne cocktails, great atmosphere, sushi ...is a little iffy. My first experience there was great all though the maki rolls were huge and a little messy (I wouldn't recommend it for a first date if you're trying to make a good impression). The second time I went I wasn't quite satisfied with my sushi. However, they do have a creative line-up of rolls and also offer a variety of cooked rolls for the raw-fish-phobic. It was good, but it has still left me in search a truly great sushi restaurant in the city. I would definitely go back for drinks though! Pros: nice atmosphere, great drinks, creative menu Cons: messy sushi, not always the freshest, can get expensive fast more

just ok 4/2/2008

I finally went to Swanky Bubbles recently and was dissapointed. We were a little late for our reservations and had to sit upstairs. Maybe that ruined it, because the ambience downstairs is definitely preferred. Upstairs is mostly used for big groups and the did not continue the decorating or theme up there. Our server was bored and uninterested even though she knew it was our first time there. The sushi was ok and my entree (thai dish w/ fried wontons instead of rice) was incredibly salty! The only positive was the yummy champagne cocktail. But there were so many choices on the sushi and cocktail menus, it would have helped to have a server that cared to give suggestions and make the experience worth it. If I go back again I would only sit downstairs, but definitely will not be rushing back. more

Chic` Spot for Quality Eats & Drinks on Weekends Before A Night Out... 3/1/2008

Definitely highly recommend. I loved the food. The vibe. The bill. The DJ was also a great addition as he was certainly dropping that fire. One thing though...avoid the banana split because it missing the banana and ice cream. The steak was very good as was the barby-q shrimp. Don't let the sh*tty name fool you, the bill for two should run about $60. So its while it may be swanky its not very pricey. All in all, great experience. When we told them about an entree that was missing for the bill, our uber professional server gave us a round of free bubbly. I recommend getting there for an 8 pm dinner and hitting the Old City streets shortly thereafter. more

Great atmosphere with so many choices 2/15/2008

This was my first experience in the city of Philadelphia. Being from Baltimore, my boyfriend wanted to take me into the city to show me around and have a great night...mission accomplished!!! I had a few too many glasses of Champagne and Chambord, but that's what they're known for...the Champagne!!! The food was great, so was the service. The parking was $20 but that's not Swanky's fault :( Cool decor...all around fun!!! more

Such A Great Time! 1/26/2008

OK, I was nearly misled by other reviews. My friends and I went for a champagne tasting and had the best time ever. This place has the yummiest chicken fried rice I've ever had. The sushi was amazing and they serve it until 1am everyday! We heard about a champagne tasting and just had to go. We met some of the nicest people ever. The staff was so friendly. Such a bunch of sweeties. We tried so many delicious champagnes and learned so much. The manager really knows his stuff. I had read some harsh words, but must strongly disagree. We can't wait to go back! Keep your head up Swanky. This place is a must try! Pros: knowledgeable, friendly staff, great fried rice Cons: Time to update the decor or hand out hallucinagens more

Rude Manager (but nice waitress) 1/4/2008

I usually like this resturant, or at least the drinks, but my last experience there left me with a horrid taste in my mouth for the managment. Pros: smaller restaurant, nice ambiance Cons: Rude accusatory manager more

how this place stands. . . 1/3/2008

I have absolutely no idea how this restaurant has received these high ratings. was there VERY recently and should have known straight from the get-go that it was a bad idea. First, a sushi joint without a sushi bar...something must be wrong. The decoration of this place is out of control i would be utterly embarrassed to take someone on a date here, not unless it was a joke, it was as cheesy and over decorated as a old school swingers club. Matted carpet at what should be a fresh, ""SWANK"" sushi place, c'mon now!! Lets move passed what it LOOKED like. The food. . . I literally could not get passed the appetizer in fear of what the raw fish would taste like. We ordered shrimp and veggie tempura (playing if safe) and when it came out it wasn't tempura rather it was once FROZEN shrimp and veggies DEEP FRIED straight from the frozen plastic bag, you could call it by the way it smelled (as I did). We had ordered plenty of sushi but told the server that we had to bounce (told her my partner was feeling ill) because well we didn't want the server to pick up any slack for our disliking this place. Unfortunately this was our last experience in philly (coming from NY) and it LITERALLY left a bad taste in our mouth. Pros: server was very nice Cons: crowd, ambience, interior decoration, FOOD! more

Awful Sushi!! 11/6/2007

The restaurant is good for groups of people, couples don't go. I went one time with a date and wound up sitting so close to the other table, it felt like a double date. They could hear everything we were saying and viseversa. Pros: Sake Cons: Food more

Avoid at all cost necessary. savage mistreatment 11/6/2007

I have been to this restaurant several times with good results. However, my last visit was the most indignant experience of my life. I went there with my best friend and her friend during restaurant week. Our reservation was not honored. We were asked to wait for tables to become available. After waiting for 42 minutes we asked how much longer we needed to wait. The general manager was discourteous and told us that he would let us know when the table became available. We tried to explain that it was not right, that we had a reservation. He, in turn told us that it was hard to seat 3 people that was the reason everybody else was going in front of us. We tried to reason with him and explain that it was not our problem and that we were never told of that inconvenience before. At that point the general manager told us that there was no point for us to wait because we were not going to be happy regardless of what he did. WE WERE ASKED TO LEAVE! There are no nice words that I can choose from to explain the details in which we were savagely mistreated. I strongly recommend that you call ahead and ask specific questions about getting a table there. I cannot stop apologizing to my best friend for embarrassing her with her friend that night by taking them there. Pros: nice place Cons: deterred general manager more
