The new owners-the old cook and his brother -are lying, shady crooks so I would not spend my hard-earned money there. And there is NO WAY I'd bring my family there. This place is under new management and has been for almost a year. New tables, carpet and barstools and sound system. Great place for Lakers or NFL and College games. They wheel out a HUGE big screen tv for these events. The happy hour is from 3-7 with all kinds of cheap deals you cant seem to find around the beach anymore and the patio outside is a cool addition. Ive been during the day and they have a rockin day bartender whose pretty fun and opionated and smart and cool. The cook bought the place so the foods the same and at night they have different stuff. The only night they dont have music is Wed and thats still a cool night its called Team Trivia, they have a guy giving questions and the place is packed. You have to have patience though cuz everyone walks in at the same time but the service is friendly and fun. You play on teams and can win money good for a date night! Tuesday nights are open mic night and everything else is pretty random. Blues, Rock n Roll and Jazz and Music on the weekends starting at 3pm! Sweet! The burgers won the best in the south bay in the easy reader and they are delicious the fries are handcut and the salads and philly steak sammies are the big secret. Lotta draft beer choices and they really upgraded there wine selection and even added a port. This place is total beachy casual wearing clothes pad with a total neighborhood bar cheers feel to it and Ive been hooked for a while ever since the original suzy girl sold the place ....didnt care for her rudeness much. The new owners are nice and the bartenders are really friendly and as fast as one can be. Happy hour here rocks 3-7pm...seriously fun music and fun people hang out and kids are welcome too for famlies too. They have a kids menu. Kitchen is open til 10pm! I went to Suzy's on a Monday afternoon about 2:30 pm. I was the only perosn in the restaurant and at no fault of the waitress, the service was slow coming out of the kitchen, however the wait was worth it. I had ordered the hamburger..just a basic nothing fancy. It was served on sourdough sandwich bread that had been toasted either in a skillet on on the griddle. It was perfect. Toasted just enough to be firm to the moisture of the meat and tomato and soft enough not to explode when you bite into it. It was served with 1000 Island dressing. What caused the wait? I never asked but I assume it came from the potatoes ala In and Out Burger style. These wern't some strips of starch out of a bag of Ore-Ida's...these were the real McCoy real potatoes cut and fried. While they were abit oily, my experiance in the kitchen is that is caused by the grease not being hot enough, they were flavorful. I did put a dash or two of salt and pepper on them but to use ketsup would be a crime against humanity. Now the design of the place is truely a bar that happens to serve food. If you want a quite meal...this aint it when a bad is playing on the stage. Even this afternoon the radio was playing borderline hard rock to moderate rock but not blasting.
