Totally disagree with the below posts 2/18/2011

This place has great sushi and this place must have done a 180 and taken those bad comments to heart. I think they have really tasty sushi and it is fresh. The price is right too and the staff is uber cool. We were drinking saki bombs and the server was having a blast with us. If your in the area I totally recommend checking this place out more

THIS IS THE DIRTIEST SUSHI SPOT IN THE WORLD. DO NOT EAT HERE YOU WILL GET SOO SICK! DONT BELEIVE ME? CHECK THE HEALTH INSPECTION WEBSITE WHERE THEY WERE CLOSED DOWN 3 TIMES IN A ROW DUE TO UNCLEANLINESS - DISGUSTING Cons: DIRTY more

Terrible quality 5/29/2008

This Sushi restraunt is the worst place I ever tried. more

Complete dissapointment from a loyal customer 1/3/2008

My friends and I had been going there for several years until a truly horrible experience recently. The night had started off well, we were seated immediately and that is when things started to go wrong. After we placed our orders they brought us our food but with it came an extra (and expensive) order. As we tried to explain to the server that we had not ordered it, he brought out the waitress who proceeded to belligerently insist that we had. Although she finally took away the dish, she snapped at us underneath her breath. We decided not to let this spoil our evening, but then one of my friends found that all of his crab sticks were still wrapped in plastic. When we called over the server to explain, he insisted that they were not plastic but shrimp shells... even though there was no shrimp in the roll. By this time, we had had enough, and apparently so had they as they brought the check without our asking. When it came to the table it was dryly tossed onto the table and almost knocked over one of our drinks. Upon looking at the check, we were shocked to see a gratuity charge of 20% for our party of five people even though most places I have been to only charge 18% gratuity when you have a party of at least eight. When we were walking out the door, we quietly warned a pair of girls coming in about the service. It was at this point that our waitress came charging out of the back screaming at us not to ever come back. Although this used to be one of my favorite restaurants, with this kind of service and attitude, I will be following the waitress' advice. Cons: Rude more

Bad Management, terrible food and quality 7/8/2007

I've been coming to Tako Sushi for about 10 years now ever since it opened. It has recently changed management, chefs, staff, etc. It was a pretty good place for all this time, good portions, decent sushi for the price, great brunch special, and tasty salad dressing. After the change, my bff and I came to Tako twice and twice have been very disappointed. The fish was average quality before...now they use day old fish. The eel has a rough rubbery texture instead of a melt in your mouth texture. The rice is mushy and overcooked and lacks that vinegar taste in sushi rice. The tea is no longer quthentic green tea but cheap chinese tea. And the famous salad dressing is watered down. Good place before but it seems management decided to sell out to some people just care about profit margin and not about keeping an impressive clientle after all these years. Thumbs down :-( Pros: Average priced Cons: Bad quality in food more

Good for when you crave sushi. . . . 7/17/2006

Disappointed 7/10/2006

After reading all these reviews, I deceided to give it a try. Ok I got the edamame and something from the sushi chef for free, but the quality of food is more important to me than a free small dish (maybe that's why the restaurant gives it to attact new customers.) The sushi/sashimi portion is BIG and GROSS. If you don't care for the quality but rather the quantity, then this place is for you. I'd rather pay a dollar more for fresh fish then to risk getting sick. My advise to anyone that like sushi, check out the sushi counter before you order. more

Great food & service! 4/13/2006

I was surprised to find this sushi place. The service was great, the chef even gave me a complimentary dish. The waitstaff was very attentive and I enjoyed my meal even more. I can't wait to go back again. Pros: free edamame, free side dishes more

So-So Sushi 2/4/2005

a hidden place in forest hills, that may be hidden for a reason. the tempura was crispy but felt oily in the mouth. sushi portions were bigger than most places and service was average, far better options available in the area.. Pros: food portions Cons: tempura, service more

Nice place! 10/8/2004

Everything from the food to the service was enjoyable about this place, but I can't recommend the tempura shrimp roll with the lobster salad enough. It was simply amazing and I wish I could get it in Seattle. Pros: Food, Service more

Best food for best price in town!! 10/6/2003

Tako is a must go. I've been there numerous of times and never been dissappointed. Everyone I brought to Tako Sushi fell in loved with this place. The portion are big, the fish are big, and you must the tempura. It just melt in your mouth. You'll never find anything like it. The house special Tako Knockout is a must as well. Trust me if you're a true sushi lover you'll love this place. Pros: Fresh fish food , big portion, free plum wine Cons: NONE NONE NONE more

Very Good Sushi, Odd Location 9/22/2003

Not a local to Forest Hills, so you could miss Tako Sushi because it's down from street level. I had reservations based on the exterior, but the food was very good. I wouldn't go so far as to say the best ever, I've had some pretty damn good sushi in my time, and this doesn't compare. I'd definately go back for more the next time I'm in the area. The plum wine at the end of the meal was a nice touch. Pros: Food, Price, Service Cons: Exterior more

Go here for the BEST sushi 1/17/2003

Whoever says this place is no good obviously doesn't appreciate good food and service. The service here is wonderful. I'm a regular here and am always treated very well by the staff. The sushi is fresh and the portions are generous. You definitely get your money's worth. The ambience is another big assest of this restaurant. It's quiet and romantic. It's a great place to go on a date. I higly recommend this place to anyone who loves Japanese cuisine. I've never had a bad meal here. Pros: Good Quality of Food, Good Value, Excellent Service Cons: Limited Parking more

not Japanese 12/15/2002

The sushi is not sushi, the waitress is not moving, the kitchen food is airplane quality, the place smells and I don't know why people go there. I went to this place twice, the first and the LAST. Pros: the place is empty more

Best in Neighborhood 9/17/2002

Their service can use a little assistance, but their food is great. Their sushi / sashimi is generous and their selections are best in the neighborhood. Whenever I'm in a mood for sushi and I don't want to travel out of the neighborhood, this is the place to go. Pros: Good fish selection, Free soybean appetize Cons: Slow waiters at times, Noisy more
