Located in the NW part of the valley (Centennial Hills) this restaurant is badly needed out here! Since we live in CH & LOVE sushi we couldn't be happier. The food is off the ho...

Worst

Fantastic Local Sushi Restaurant 6/4/2008

My wife and I visited the restaurant over memorial day. We met up with some friends in Las Vegas. Coming from New York City, we must say that this menu is quite on par with New York sushi restaurants. They are very creative with the dishes and everything was fresh. That was key for us! Service was fabulous too. It is definitely not like restaurants on the strip. This is more local and has the cozy feel but still lets you know you are in Vegas. We would return. more

pretty good sushi 5/21/2008

Well let's start with saying the ad online makes it sound like this is a 5 star sushi bar.I went there and my first roll was a roll with tuna inside and out and the tuna was too pink for me.The second roll of the same name was great, it was deep in red color, that is how I like it. I then ordered the Toro, and it was ok , I have had better, but I felt like I was in a all you can eat sushi bar cause I felt so rushed, when I ordered they were in a rush,,when I was trying to leave the hostess was too busy talking on her cell phone to see if I needed anything else, finally i walked up and said can I have my bill, so yes I was disappointed.. Pros: Parking was easy, when you walk in is has nice ambience Cons: little pricy, not sashimi grade sushi, more

Wonderful Sushi Rolls with Funny Names! 5/12/2008

This is a great place to go, when you walk through the door everyone who works there greets you with cheers. The Sushi chefs are extremely entertaining and really create a great atmosphere. The waiters and waitress's have great personlities and also provide great service. They have a great menu with some hilarious names for some extraordinary sushi rolls. Everything we have tried has been fabulous and also very good value. So go check out Sushi Loca, you won't be dissapointed. You may want to make a reservation on the weekend as it is does get quite busy. more

Felt like I walked into fine restaurant on the strip and sat down at the same sushi bar in the movie K i l l Bill ! 4/23/2008

I've been a sushi'ologist for over 5years now and my travels have spawned some of the best spots all around the United States and select overseas countries,,and I've never induldged this type of sushi ever in any of those locations!,,I had the Final Fantasy roll which included this ponzu spice sauce and it had me from the start!,,the roll had a consistency I've never come to know,,it held together and the rice was sticky to perfection,,they serve you edamame and spiced cucumbers when you sit down and thought that was a kind way to start,,the chefs are happy to be serving and are very kind,,the atmosphere is quite lively and the decor choice considering my bedroom is similar in motif!,,I also tried a selection off of their special board at the bar,,it was a Hawaiin Salmon sashimi and was served a very genorous portion,,the plating was a delight as well,,This being my first trip and not all to hungry I only feasted on what I have just mentioned but i assure you that I will be attending their establishment again,,I sat and read both the bar menu and the kitchen menu and planned my next conquest when I return to Sushi Loca!!! Pros: Atmospher lively, decor choice, chefs friendly, waitresses helpful, food unique Cons: This is going to sound petty but the sushi bar doesn't provide the best leg room more

Best Sushi Experience 4/13/2008

The best sushi I every had. Sushi Loca is truly unique and authentic.. The staff, is a delightful part of the your dining experience. The chiefs provide friendly entertainment as they prepare delicious gourmet meals. The wait staff dressed in tradition Japanese outfits are extremely friendly, polite and efficient, Everyone in Sushi Loca seem eager to make your dinner a pleasurable experience and they succeeded in doing that. Last but not least is the food itself. The presentations are beautiful and the taste is excellent. From the unique names on their menu to your custom request each dish is a pure delight. I just moved to the Las Vegas area and have traveled the world. It is so refreshing to have the best sushi right here locally. Again I would rate Sushi Loca as 5 stars, when it comes to food and service, and highly recommend it. Pros: everything about sushi loca is a pro Cons: everything about sushi loca is a pro more

great setting, excellent food 4/10/2008

i am a las vegas resident, i have eaten at sushi loca 5 times now and will go back again. I am NOT a sushi expert but i must say that the food was great. there was cooked sushi, raw sushi, deserts. I remember getting the Final Fantasy 2, and the Honey Honey (it's funny the different entrees have exotic names like Final Fantasy 2, Honey Honey (dont worry the contents of the entree is right beside) ). The menu has a large amount of different things to choose from, the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to please you. I highly recommend and will be back again Pros: great food, great staff, great atmosphere Cons: none, just wish the restaurant was a little bigger for the great quality food they have more

Save your money and time 3/29/2008

I had such high hopes for this restaurant after reading the previous reviews as well as the fact that the location is less than a mile from my house. What a disappointment this place was. I went there on a Thursday night with my daughters (ages 4 & 6) to try it out. I ordered 3 sushi rolls and the chicken yakisoba. I asked the waiter to bring 2 plates for the girls to split the yakisoba. He didn't bother to tell me that their yakisoba was very spicy, almost too spicy for me to eat. I have ordered Chicken Yakisoba on many occasions and never had one prepared spicy. The sushi I ordered came prepared differently as well. The standard California roll I ordered for the girls was great, along with the Philadelphia roll. The specialty roll I ordered was awful. It tasted nothing like I've had before at several other locations in town. It was void of any flavor at all, and not the least bit spicy (as it stated in the description.) This is the roll that cost me $14 so I was very disappointed. My other complaint would be the table we were placed at. I guess because I have children the host assumed we would be loud because we were placed right next to a goup of college students that were drinking and yelling obscenities. I have no problem with people that like to party and have a good time, but I was let down by the fact that the waiter didn't offer to move us after I complained about the noise. I seriously could barely hear my children talk to me. I will say that the decor of this place is beautiful, and yes they do greet EVERYONE when entering or exiting. Our waiter was very attentive when it came to refilling our drinks and bringing us our food. So in the end I payed $50 plus a $10 tip for a disappointing meal for 3. I guess I will have to keep driving to Summerlin for good sushi. Pros: nice decor, attentive staff Cons: too expensive, not that good of food more

Yummy! 3/17/2008

We are always looking for a great sushi restaurant and happened to find one, close to home, in Sushi Loca. Pros: Easy parking, friendly staff and sushi chefs more

Great sushi! 3/2/2008

I tried this place for the first time on Friday... and it was AWESOME! I got some sushi rolls which were excellent! It is now my favorite place in Las Vegas for sushi. The teriyaki beef was also extremely good! And I definitely like the decoration and how the waitresses wear kimonos. Overall it was awesome. Pros: Great food Cons: Chicken and beef teriyaki little bit pricey more

Awesome Place! 3/1/2008

Food is good, staff is friendly and very accomodating. This place has become my local Sushi hang out! Pros: Good food, reasonalble prices, nice staff Cons: Music was a little loud.... more

Not up to par 2/15/2008

I had to create a user account after realizing that the reviews for restaurants here in LV were severely lacking; also, with all due respect to those that have reviewed LV restaurants, particularly restaurants serving any type of asian food were, well, rather ludicrous. Having said that, though, I realize that everyone has different palettes and I'm in no way putting any other reviewers' experiences down. Pros: Ambience, ample parking, fun setup. Cons: Unnecessarily over-the-top in presentation, not real japanese food. more

Northwest Sushi - Best in Vegas!! 2/8/2008

I am an Air Force brat who lived in Japan and have had a very difficult time finding a sushi place that I am overly fond of. Well this is the place! From the first step into this establishment I was impressed, great design, everyone yelling to welcome us and just a fun, inviting vibe going on. At first I was worried that with everything being so good initially, the food would be the low point. NOT TRUE! Best I've had in years! When I asked our friendly waitress how business was, she told me that it was not as busy as I assumed it would be. I blame a previous restaurant that was in the same building for running off potential clientele because it was horrendous. I usually don't go out of my way to do these kind of things, but I was so impressed I feel the need to share! Please check it out! You will not be let down!! more

Best Food, Period.!!! 1/9/2008

Ok, I'm 34 years old,, and had never tried sushi based on preconceptions of how awful it must be.. Well, after hearing how great it is from my girlfriend's parents,, I decided to try it out with an open mind.. more

GREAT Sushi Experience 1/3/2008

I've been to my share of sushi places all around the valley, and I'm glad to say Sushi Loca has taken over as my #1 spot for sushi. I am originally from the LA area, where there are tons of awesome sushi restaurants. Vegas has some too, but they have been difficult to find. My former #1 for the longest time was on the Westside. That place was my standard, until now. Dining at Sushi Loca was one of the best sushi experiences I've had in a long while. Just as I walked in, I was greeted as if I were family, and they carried that attitude the whole night. They asked for my and my girlfriend's names, and they didn't forget. I saw they had some repeat customers from the community -- 2 different parties came in shortly after us -- and the staff remembered most of their names, which immediately told me they truly care about knowing their guests. I sat at the sushi bar, and I'm glad I did. The sushi chefs are some of the most lively, enthusiastic, and FUN chefs I've met. They make make it a point that you're having a good time, always cracking jokes, and they take good care of you. There was a family of 6 sitting next to us at the bar. They were having as much fun as we were. It reminded me of the enjoyment you have when you go to a Japanese tepan grill (but the chefs don't do tricks). And when you see the menu -- an experience itself -- you'll see it lives up to the restaurant's name. Crazy indeed! But don't let the names fool you. ALL the food is ON POINT. From the quality of the sushi & rolls, to the miso soup, to the salad, to the teriyaki chicken, to even the tempura ice cream for dessert, they are all about QUALITY. Pros: Prompt, personable service; Community-oriented; Excellent quality; FUN & LOCA! Cons: None really: you can still sit at a secluded private table for romance more

Awesome Sushi - New and exciting Sushi place. 12/31/2007

My sister-in-law was visiting from Bogota and I wanted to take her out for lunch. I suggested a nice steak as Colombians are big meat eaters. The Montana Steak House is near to my home so I decided to make a quickrun. As I was nearing the steak house we saw a big sign ""Sushi Loca"". Her being hispanic was instantly amused by the name. She said "" pare aqui"" which means ""stop here"". ""Look we can go loco eating some Sushi"". I was game so we went in and was instantly greeted by a chorous from the staff. We were seated by a beautiful japanese young lady in kimono. The place looked really fabulous; the decor was modern Japanese with subdued reddish lighting. I instantly liked the place. The staff were all smiling and cheerful. We had ""screaming ****** a tuna Sushi platter (I am not allowed to write the word in this review) because it got the attention of my sister-in-law. It was awesome; it tasted so good we had an extra platter. We sampled the yellow tail and gorged ourselves. I had fun trying to translate ""I did your girlfriend"" which was one of the menu items. Try Sushi Loca and you will not be disappointed. I will definitely go there again and try their incredible selections. This is a place worth checking out if you are a sushi lover. Sushi Loca is by Sams on Tropical Parkway in the NW area/ near the new Centenial Hills Hospital. Pros: Lots of parking/ easy access from 95 or 215/ exceptional service/ attention to your needs more

Most fun at Northwest if not the entire Vegas! 12/30/2007

I was quiet surprised when I stumbled unto Sushi Loca after shopping at Sam's Club nearby. The sushi quality is one of the best I've ever tasted. But what sets this restaurant apart from all the rest in Vegas are the fun chefs that not only create the most scruptous sushi and outrageous rolls but the way they make you laugh and have fun. It's a great way to take a load off after a hard days work enjoying sake with your friends. It's about time Northwest Las Vegas have a place to have fun late at night. Pros: Fun Chefs Cons: Only one in Vegas more
