Sushi In Joy

We live near this restaurant and order take-out at least once per month. It is always delicious. The Sushi is excellent and we regularly treat ourselves to a yummy yummy roll. more

What makes us go back to the restaurant that we have visited before? For me, dinner is a very precious time that I get to spend with my family. It's almost like a tradition that we spend time together during dinner to talk about what happened throughout the day. But doing this at home can be very mundane and kids tend to walk away from the dinner table as soon as they finish eating. Sushi In Joy for me is like an extension of my dinner table away from home. What I receive from this particular restaurant is warm smiles, great food, and home-like environment. We see waitresses and the sushi chef smile immediately you step in to the restaurant to welcome you. You can see young kids' drawings on the walls all over the walls near the bathroom appreciating and giving their own two cents about the restaurant. You will see pictures of almost all the customers that have visited this restaurant like your own pictures frames on home. Food is also great. I can order same dish in downtown Bellevue or Seattle and pay twice as much. Why would you do something that stupid when there is a sushi restaurant who can outmatch all other restaurants regarding the taste of food. Chefs, both sushi and kitchen, are brilliant and food is great without all the fuss. I've been sushi-eater for almost all my life. And specials such as uni (sea urchin) and hirame (flounder) is always a plus to see on the menu. Next time you are around this area, make you you visit Sushi In Joy. I bet you won't regret the experience. To all the bad comments made in the past: If your kids are loud and obnoxious, restaurant has every rights to maintain control. This isn't your private dining room at your home. Other customers feel the same way as the restaurant. If your kids aren't behaving, you as parents at fault. Yes wait time is long on the weekend. But what restaurant isn't busy on the weekend? Have you been to Maggiano's in Bellevue downtown? I waited 2 hours just to be seated before and another 2 hours to get my food. So if you are complaining about wait time, go to McDonald. I heard they serve things pretty quick there. I was in town for some training at a nearby computer facility. Since reviews of the place were pretty good, I decided to check it out. I arrived at lunch time, took a seat at the bar and proceeded to have some wonderful tea, great miso, and some remarkable sushi. The sushi chef was very polite and conversational; a trait I usually appreciate. Things got awfully weird the minute I finished off that last piece of unagi. I LOVE Sushi in Joy! I eat there frequently. Never had a bad meal or bad service. My family were there the other night, this large party came in with several small children, they sat in the private booth. When some of the children started acting up, the parents simply took them outside individually for a few minutes. When they returned, the children behaved very well for the rest of the meal. We've eaten here a number of times over the last 5 years with our now 5 yo daughter. We have always loved the food, been treated well by the staff even though we had a kid with us. We've also invited other families to join us in their little semi private room and had a good experience...with 4 children together. Give it a try! more

Wow I can't believe this place got a bad rating by at least one person. This place is ""everyone-friendly"". I highly recommend this place for a casual dinner with family or even a dinner with your coworkers. Bentos are delicious as well as the other dishes served by both sushi bar and the kitchen. more

I love, Love, LOVE Sushi In Joy. Their tempura and terriyaki are the best in town. The small touches are what make this place great. Like a brush of lemon on the ebi - excellent! more

I've never been so satisfied by such a makunouchi bento! It has everything! You can literally share that for two! Sashimi, sushi, katsu, tempura, teriyaki...the works!
