Best in Peoria 9/10/2006

I was very pleased with my visit to Sushigawa. I have been to other sushi restaraunts in the area and have been disappointed. The atmosphere of Sushigawa reminded me of sushi restaurants in the Chicago area...very welcoming and busy! It was easy to find a seat, but not discouragingly empty like some other sushi restaurants in Peoria. The presentation of the food was beautiful, and the service was great! more

Awesome place! 1/14/2006

Average? Salty?? You can't have been to the same place as me. This is a lovely little spot - very peaceful ambience with great service. The menu has a wide variety of Japanese food for those who hate the idea of raw fish as well as those who embrace it. For those who embrace? Unbelievably good sushi. Honestly, some of the best I've ever had. The salmon was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the handrolls were crispy and delicious -- even the rice on its own had a wonderful, nutty flavor and perfect texture. If you find your sushi too salty, maybe you're leaning a little too heavily on the soy sauce? No need to. The flavor of this food stands entirely on its own. For my money, this is THE place in Illinois (outside of Chicago) to go for sushi. Pros: FABULOUS food, nice ambience, wonderful service Cons: closed Sundays more

Nothing Special 1/23/2003

This Japanese restaurant is quite small in area. I was greeted by a friendly waitress, and was promptly seated. The restrooms are cleaner than most. There are lovely Japanese Zen-inspired decorations on the walls, and you can hear soothing, calm music in the background. The food tasted fine at the beginning, but after a while, it gets pretty salty. It was not expensive, but I don't think that this restaurant is a very good value. Pros: friendly service, affordable prices, pretty decorations Cons: salty food, cramped area, takes long for food more
