Best sushi in Atlanta! 8/17/2011

Yu-ka is hands down the best sushi in Atlanta, and believe me, I’ve tried them all!! I go to Yu-ka on a weekly basis at least. more

Found a Sushi goldmine 7/9/2010

Some friends and I stumbled onto this small sushi bar quite by mistake. We were looking for RuSan's when we literally parked in the wrong parking lot and saw this place. We decided to give it a shot and are sure glad we did. The rolls were large and plentiful, the sashimi was very good and the service was commendable. The waitresses took a lot of time helping us decide because we had novice eaters in our group. I'm looking forward to going back and sitting at the bar and talking with the chefs. A great little find in the middle of Buckhead. Pros: Excellent Service, Very Good Sushi, Good Prices Cons: Nothing really other than a bit small, but I liked that more

Simply good 5/16/2009

This hole in the wall is one which needs to stay there and continue doing what its doing. Yu-Ka the beautiful lady offers a nice variety of simple to fancy rolls with some excellent pieces of fish. All this remains pretty affordable for such good sushi and the sushi chefs and hostesses are always warm and welcoming. Check it out and you might get hooked. Pros: Succulent and melt in the mouth sushi Cons: I can't live there more

Sensational Sushi 3/22/2009

A friend of mine wanted to meet me for sushi at this place in Buckhead. He typically orders for us, which is fine with me because I love to try new things. We had an appetizer special of salmon or maybe tuna on a bed of spinach. It was absolutely incredible. The flavors sprang to life on my tongue. Luckily, I fought my urge to lick the plate. The next thing he ordered was scallops in this wasabi sauce. I almost sprang out of my seat in enjoyment. It was obvious my friend was aware that I was ready to lick the plate this time because after the scallops were gone he told the waitress to leave the plate so I could use the sauce on the other sushi he orderd. And did I ever.... They also gave us the traditional saki "cups". All in all the service was incredible, the sushi was sentational and of course the company of my friend made the experience near perfect. You gotta try it soon!!! Pros: Sauces galore Cons: Long drive more

My Favorite Sushi Place In Atlanta...for that matter Anywher 3/21/2009

After living in San Francisco for two years and growing up in NY, I think I qualify as a foodie. Yu-Ka is my favorite restaurant not to mention Sushi Bar. The staff here is warm, attentive and creative. Every time I walk in Yu-Ka, I feel like I am not only greeted as a customer but as a friend. I am an adventurous sushi eater and I will tell you bar none, this is the freshest fish in the city. I eat Sashmi (no rice) and I am always impressed how fresh tasting the fish is. Keeps me coming back for sure. Highly recommend Yu-Ka. See you at the Sushi Bar. Pros: Great Service, Excellent Fresh Sushi and Yummy Sake Cons: I Don't get to go Everyday more

Fresh Sushi, Great Service 2/27/2009

I am very choosey when it comes to Sushi & service and when I moved to Atlanta I had to find a great Sushi place...and this is it. I recommend sitting at the bar if it is just yourself and one other person. The Sushi chefs are very friendly and you receive immediate service. Not only that but to watch them work is interesting, their presentations are very artistic. Even if you sit in a table the service is still friendly and fast. Their Miso Soup and Ginger Salad is my favorite and I've had this at least hundreds of times at other Sushi restaurants. A lot of their rolls are large enough that you only need to place one or two orders. Their Nigri/Sushi is twice the size of those at most restaurants and it is very fresh. Don't leave without trying their tempura ice cream, it's great and you have to at least try it once. Pros: Fast Friendly Fresh Sushi more

Never eat here 1/15/2009

I just came back from a lunch at Yu-Ka. The problem is that I didn't get to eat any sushi! The service was so terrible that after sitting in the restaurant for over an hour, the chef had not even begun to make my meal. The restaurant was not particularly busy, so there was no reason whatsoever for it to have taken so long. I had to walk out and get a sandwich at Kroger. This was the single worse dinning experience of my life. I will never go back. Pros: None Cons: Terrible more

Wonderful sushi experience 11/30/2008

Yu-Ka is a wonderful sushi spot in Atlanta's Buckhead region. Being from out of town (L.A.), I was looking for a sushi restaurant to visit that didn't seem like it was trying to be too "hip", as I've seen a few in this area with their glass and chrome and clubby environments. What is essential about a sushi house to me is the taste of the food, and here at Yu-Ka they take care to make it a pleasure for your palate. The service was outstanding and personable. I think that in a sushi restaurant that is intimate like this one, a little conversation with the staff goes a long way. Granted, I came by myself, but I was rewarded with the blessings of an open, very friendly and appreciative crew. The environment is low-key, so, by nature, the emphasis is on taste. I especially enjoyed the fresh salmon, white tuna, snapper and the crunch roll. The steamed spinach is really delightful, and in a town full of fast, greasy food, a healthier treat. I truly enjoyed my time here and I hope to bring a small party here in a couple of nights and I want to try the omakase. A blessing that it's so close to me, and a good dining choice for all. Sit at the sushi bar and enjoy. You make your own time in this world and this place is one that's worth a moment like that. Arigato gosaimas Yu-Ka! Pros: Nicely priced, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, great food more

Authentic sushi experience 7/16/2008

By far the most authentic sushi experience in Buckhead. Fish is fresh, presentation is creative and there is an overall zen feeling about the place that makes the experience of dining here quite enjoyable. Sushi chefs are personable and eager to give their recommendations. Service is friendly. Prices are very reasonable. If you like places such as Rusan's (not even sure if that is correct spelling) or MF Sushi then this may not be the place for you - this is ideal place if you are into under-statement and character not fake and superficial "americanized" versions of the sushi experience which are truly hideous. more

Best of Atlanta! 5/9/2008

All I ever ask of any sushi bar is to serve good quality fish that is portioned appropriately to the price. At Yu-Ka, the portions are huge and the quality is top notch, all matching the quite reasonable price. They serve unique rolls that feed the eyes as well as the belly. Yu-Ka has quickly become our family favorite.......and we are not an easy family to please! Pros: freshest seafood Cons: not for those looking for more "bar" than sushi more

Absolutely Fabulous! 2/18/2008

Finally a place you can make your "regular Sushi place." The food was absolutely fantastic, the fish was fresh, tasty and just delicious! The presentation was very creative and we felt they gave us very generous servings! The service was great and everyone seemed friendly and pleasant. We are definetly going back for more! If you have tried some of the highly recommended places, then you must try this place. I am certain you will not be disappointed. We were so very pleasantly surprised. Pros: The food Cons: None more

A Must Try! 11/3/2007

I selected this restaurant based on the reviews on Citysearch. We went for an early dinner on Saturday night and sat at the bar so that we could watch the chefs working. We ordered the Sushi and Sashimi Combo to share. All of fish was amazingly fresh and tasty. The price of the food was very reasonable especially considering the time and imagination that went in to each piece. Flowers made out of ginger; designs cut in to the decorative leaves on the plates; and the wasabi was even formed and then carved into the shape of leaves, hearts, etc. We ended up ordering additional pieces of the spicy tuna and a couple of other selections because they were just so good! One of the chefs made us a special dessert (which we had not ordered) of oranges with whipped cream and sprinkles. The orange on the plate was carved just like a jack o lantern. It was a really wonderful experience overall and we will definitely go back for dinner again. We really want to try their lunch specials as well. Others have mentioned in their reviews that the decor was plain ,etc. I thought it was wonderful: simple and understated. Pros: Great service! more

Excellent Sushi 9/28/2007

The quality and freshness of the sushi is why I gave 5 stars. The service is great too. Instead of going to MF or Hashiguchi, give this place a try. You will not be disappointed. This place is located in the Disco Kroger shopping center and sometimes looks like it's closed which is probably why they don't have bigger crowds. The decor is very Japanese. Pros: Sushi, sashimi, service Cons: None except that the inside is very plain. more

Just as good as MF 9/21/2007

I went for the first time last week and am going again next week. I think the quality is on par with MF and cost about 1/2 as much. Owners, servers, chefs (take your pick) were all helpful and steered us toward trying the specials and freshest fish of the day. The server even offered a discount to on eguy who didn't finish everything on his plate. more

Absolutely fantastic sushi, best presentation anywhere 8/27/2007

By far, some of the best sushi available. This restaurant is tucked away in the corner of a shopping center, and was fairly quiet on a Saturday night. Hard to believe more people are not lining up for this place. The sushi was absolutely fresh, comparable to the best I have ever had. The presentation is mind-blowing - food truly so beautiful you think you shouldn't touch it. The service was great - the staff is not pushy or overbearing, but nonetheless quite attentive. This place is not to be missed if you are interested in good sushi. Only negative was the atmosphere - definitely neither fun nor romantic- moderate lighting, no ambiance, just overall very blah - typical strip mall feeling. This place should seriously consider relocating and changing their decor, lighting, music, etc. Pros: Absolutely phenomenal sushi, great service, no wait, lots of parking Cons: Poor ambiance more

Not authentic Japanese 7/27/2007

We were very dissapointed. It is not authentic Japanese Restaurant. Run by Korean people. Food looks like Japanese, but do not taste Japanese. It is not the same thing when ethnic rastaurant is ran by some other nathionalities. Also, their seats had so many stains All together not too hot. :- ( Pros: Good location and easy parking Cons: Not real Japanese food more

Fresh, delicious, great presentation 7/7/2007

My Japanese wife and I have scoured the city in search of good sushi. There are a few trendy restaurants that get high reviews on this website but are actually very poor in quality. There are also a few restaurants that receive little publicity but can be relied on for authentic, fresh sushi. This was our first visit to Sushi-Yuka, but it will not be our last. We ordered standard nigiri sushi; Toro, Ikura, Hotagai, Amaebi (unfortunately they were out of Uni ) etc. on this night. Unlike the big hunks of fish that look like they were chopped with an axe that are so popular elsewhere, Sushi-Yuka has a nice balance of fish and rice with little touches of shiso and salmon roe placed here and there. The waitstaff are very attentive without being overbearing, and the service is relaxed yet prompt. You can feel the sincere effort to please customers. The price is reasonable considering the quality of the food and the location of the restaurant. The menu included a lot of other Japanese dishes--nearby a Japanese couple was clearly enjoying their soba--but on this night we stuck with sushi. Take it from people who know sushi--this place is good. Pros: Prompt, friendly service, fresh sushi, pleasant ambience, easy parking more

Eat with your Eyes 7/4/2007

The restaurant is in the strip mall and there is no way to guess the inside of the restaurant from the outside. I felt pretty good as soon as I walked in. It was not like a "hip" Japanese sushi cafe joint which gives me a warnning that sushi would only be Americanized version of sushi but it was rather traditional Japanese restaurant feel. We have been in the search of good Japanese restaurant so we have decided to try this restaurant. we ordred few nigiri and rolls and they came in a beautiful recutangular glass dish with eye-pleasing garnishes that I had a hard time to think where to start. We stared off with Hokkigai (Surf Clam) and it was very sweet and tasty. Then we tried flouder and mackeral nigiri then spicy yellowtail. It was pretty good but this was not the best sushi I had in Atlanta. Definitely the presentation is SUPERB and entertaining. At the end of the meal, they gave us basket (made out of orange) with cut out orange cubes. We are planning to come back for lunch to try out some bento boxes. Pros: beautiful presentation, tranditional dish available more

Amazing sushi 6/3/2007

I love their lunches, great value for money - overall their food is amazing, fresh and really great service. I'm back at least 3 times a week. Pros: Great value for money lunch, easy parking, excellent sushi more
