Favorite Sushi Spot in all of LA 12/24/2010

I go to this place every week. The owner and Richard are so genuine and treat me like a king everytime I walk in the door. Friendly staff, and excellent sushi. They even named a roll after me due to my frequency of visits. I have eaten at Roku, Raku, Something fishy, Nobu, and many others. Sushi Agoura Is leaps and bounds better. be there or be sorry. more

BEST SUSHI ON THIS SIDE OF LA 5/14/2010

I have been coming here since I was 8 years old, and I have to agree with some others on here that this is HANDS DOWN some of the best sushi in LA. I live in Sherman Oaks, and usually go to Katsuya or somewhere nearby, but when I have some time, I make the trip out to Agoura. Blows Katsuya out of the water. Their Special Albacore Roll is so fresh, and while their servers might not be the MOST accomodating, if you're polite, they're polite back. If you're in the area, go once, and you will have good sushi other places again. Pros: freshest fish, great rolls, incredible food Cons: sometimes busy, closed in afternoon, a little pricey. more

Not Happy... Staff Is Mean Spirited 2/17/2010

Called to see if they take reservations this evening at 4:50 PM. The phone rang several times when a woman answered only to say they were not open and hung up. Frustrated I of course called right back only to have the phone picked up and than banged down without a word... Business must really be great to turn away a party of eight!! I have enjoyed Sushi Agoura on several occasions but will never return. This kind of attitude is unacceptable. In these difficult times it's a luxury to take family and friends to an expensive dinner. Candidly I want great food and to be appreciated. Pros: Great food Cons: Terrible attitude more

Will never go back there!!! 2/17/2010

In today's economy, going out to eat has become a luxury. Today at work we decided to treat ourselves to a nice lunch. We went to Sushi Agoura. After having lunch we went to pay the bill, which was not inexpensive. We asked the waitress to split the bill. She showed it to the owner and he was very bothered and said it was a hassle. I asked him if he would rather not have the business then have to split the bill. He looked at me and said yes. If this is how he treats his customers, I can't imagine how anyone would return. I certainly won't. I will share this experience with my staff and patients. Pros: Plenty of parking Cons: convenience more important than customer more

WITHOUT QUESTION ONE OF THE BEST PLACES IN THE WORLD! 4/9/2008

As a pharmaceutical rep, I have eaten at virtually every sushi spot in LA. Sushi Agoura ranks in the Top 2. It is AMAZING. What they lack in ambience, they more than make up for in quality, freshness, and taste. Pros: Food, the fish, the cuisine, the food, the sushi, and the food Cons: a bit crowded more

HANDS DOWN!!! The Best Sushi place in all of L.A. and the U.S. for that matter 11/13/2006

I have eaten in a lot of sushi places in LA, New York, Miami, Vegas, Boston and Chicago. All I can say is that Sushi Agoura has by far the best quality fish out there. This is a Japanese run restaurant with high quality fish. When you eat the sushi here, it pretty much melts in your mouth. The tuna is bright red, the toro is really light pink and the salmon is a light orange. This place is good. Some of my favoite items are 1- Spicy Tuna hand roll 2- seared tuna Sushi 3- albacore sushi 4- Baked Scallop Hand roll 5- spicy snow crab hand roll (comes is whole chunks of REAL crab meat, as if it was just pulled in one big strand from a crab leg) 6- chilean sea bass hand roll 7- sashimi salad 8- stupid #1.. 9- Stupid #2 (Don't ask. they're just good. The owner and his wife run the place and Megu (owner) gets pretty wasted with his clients. The crowd is pretty young and rich considering you're right across the street from ALL the hottest clubs in town and you are eating the best sushi in the U.S. Sushi costs you about $5, hand rolls about $6.50 and salads about $12. Cut rolls costs you about $10-12 as well, but they are pretty filling. For me and my husband, we usually spend about $50-60 for both of us p/ visit. Well worth it! Pros: Fish quality, service, location, owner is really cool Cons: Waiting for seats at the bar. The place is small and during peak hours, you usually have to wait. more
