Sushi 2-2 Train

Been enjoying this place since first opening. The decor has been through some changes since the beginning, for the better. The two things that haven't changed are the excellent service and terrific food. The best, freshest Sushi anywhere, no competition. more

I don't exactly remember how I heard about the restaurant, but I'm sure glad I did! It's a quaint little restaurant, but you get a lot out of it! The waitresses were so sweet to me and seated me immediately. Already their happy faces made my day. When I ordered my food, the food came quickly and the price was good for the great quality of their food. The owner Sang treated me as a friend and was incredibly nice to me, and I would have to the say the sushi was AMAZING! I don't think I've ever tasted better sushi! It was beautifully created and the whole atmosphere made me feel comfortable and at ease. After coming there that one day, I haven't stopped! I go there frequently and on weekends there are sake-bams and karaeoke to lighten the mood. Even one of my friends, who isn't a fan of sushi, loved it here! We stopped in here a few years ago because another restaurant we liked nearby was too busy to seat us. We were seated immediately, the staff was efficient and welcoming, the food was fantastic. We were overall pleased. We decided to go back to try again to see if it was just first time luck. We were welcomed back with open arms and wonderful service. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome---we nicknamed it Cheers because we feel like we are at our home ""bar"" with the friendship and camaraderie even if you have never met the other patrons . When I was ill, they sent home extra soup for me when I did not join a group for dinner. As the title says, we have NEVER had a bad piece of fish or other item at 2-2 EVER. I cannot say that about ANY other sushi place. They do not put ""junk"" on special plates--you know, the things few other people will eat, so it gets tossed onto a ""chef special plate"" at many places---NOT at 2-2! We have taken many, many friends there--including our over 90 y.o. grandmother--she is welcomed and she loves it there (she does not eat sushi and enjoys dinners there). Kids are also VERY welcome there.\r \r 2-2 gets busy late Fri nites and Sat nites, but we have only had to wait for a table once---an entire high school sports team came in---but it was a short wait.\r \r If you want a place without attitude, great service, terrific food and a not too loud atmosphere (except during karaoke) then head on over to Sushi 2-2. Great little neighborhood sushi with freshest fish and excellent service every visit.\r \r Their sushi bar is surrounded by a model train (kids love that too) that delivers the sushi bar items to the patrons. Regular table and booth seating is also available. Nice ambiance, great music, and the staff is always friendly and efficient.\r \r We either dine in or take out once a week. Don't miss their spicy ""Quito Rolls"" as well as any other specialty rolls.\r \r We like Blowfish too but if you want to be able to eat great sushi AND carry on a conversation, Sushi 2-2 is the first choice! 2-2 Train is the best place for sushi and a good time in the Bay!\r My good friend introduced me to this place about a year ago and it did not take more than a few minutes for me to decide that this was a place I was absolutly coming back to. i have been there several times now and have even joined in the karyokee on a Friday night.\r You will love it i promise! more

I left a review here before, not sure what happened to it...but have to let anyone know that this place is definitely worth going to. My husband and I eat here at least 2 times a month and are never disappointed. The owner, Sang, and his wife are the nicest people and always treat you like you're special. Sang RULES! Eat here and forget about the other high-priced, over-hyped sushi places in the area. more

A neighborhood sushi joint that rocks. The owner, Sang, is always innovating - new smoked tataki style albacore, interesting rolls, always remembers a face and glad to do a shot of sake with the regulars.
