Susanna's Bridal & Evening

DO NOT USE SUSANNA'S BRIDAL!!! I hired Susanna to make my custom wedding dress and, after 11 appointments and delays after delays, have ended up with a dress that is at least 1.5 inches too big in the bodice, a skirt longer on one side than the other, dirt spots all over, a bolero jacket that is uncomfortably tight (I don't think I could stand to wear it during just the ceremony much less the entire day), unfinished seams that cause the dress to lie funny, uneven gathering (some places flat, other places very full), and a couple of holes in the dress to boot. I got it in this shape just days before I need to leave for my destination wedding and have had to find another seamstress who can set everything right in very short time. I paid a lot of money and put a lot of trust in her because of the favorable reviews on this and another site (Susanna has a dry-cleaning, tailoring and upholstery business, too) and am dumbfounded how this happened. Perhaps this is an isolated event, however, based upon a number of frustrated customers I observed whenever I was at her business, I highly doubt it. more

I'm new to the area and went to Susanna because she was the highest reviewed seamstress in my vicinity. With so many glowing reviews, I couldn't have been more disappointed. I was having her do alterations on my very simple wedding dress (no corset, no fluff. Just a simple outdoor wedding kind of dress). Not only did Susanna try to get me to wear a corset 2 cup sizes bigger than I usually wear to essentially stuff my bra so she wouldn't have to do any work on the bustline, but she stuck large pins in the satin part of my dress leaving scratches and holes. However the worst was the glue she got all over the inside of the straps and the front of my dress. Susanna was unorganized, unprofessional and careless. I ended up taking back my dress before she was even done making all of the alterations I payed for because I was so worried she would damage my wedding dress further. Save yourself the time, money and worry and do not use this seamstress. more

I chose Suzzana because of the previous review. It sounded like I would be in good hands. I am not a picky person by nature. I NEVER send back my food, complain for no reason, make a fuss over anything. But after I got my wedding dress back from Susanna I CRIED. It is a very simple, clean-cut dress with two layers and they simply needed to be hemmed. Now one sticks out from another on one side. The work was so sloppy! The expensive silk was all bunched up in the stitch. There were even greasy finger stains on the dress. I don't have that much money. And this dress was probably the most expensive thing I have ever bought. I know I have made a mistake trusting someone to do a good job without knowing them. BUT it really was a very simple job. I never thought that this horror could be done. I have learned my lesson the hard way. Now I feel that it's my duty to warn people out there. Sorry, Susanna! more

Susanna is the best dress maker around. I would say she is definitely worth traveling to Hoboken from NYC. She completely restored a vintage wedding dress for me and did an amazing job. The dress was badly damaged and required a lot of very skilled work to repair rips around embroidery and delicate beading. I could not be happier with her work. I had called several dressmaker and bridal shops, but no one wanted to take on such a big job. The dress came out beautifully and I am so excited to wear it. It looks like a completely new dress. I should have taken before and after pictures! Pros: highly skilled and reasonably priced more
