Good for Supplies But Don't Buy Anything Alive 10/18/2005

This store was a big disappointment to me. The fish tanks are dirty and poorly maintained. I have seen fish for sale that are clearly sick and have ick. They also sell rabbits, and use to have a large bird, but I haven't seen that in awhile. My son decided to "rescue" some of the fish at this location to put in someone of extra aquariums at home. We waited patiently near the fish tanks while several employees joked, laughed and talked nearby, completely ignoring us. We finally approached them to ask for help. We then waited another 5 minutes at least for anyone to actually come over to us. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the fish died shorty after getting them home. But, as we said, they had a better life for a short time ;) If you are only buying supplies, then there are some real bargains to be had at this location. They often discount items and put them on clearance. We have bought test kits and heaters for a fraction of their normal cost. They have a nice selection of pet food as well. There is a grooming service, but I would not recommend it. My sister took her black schnauzer in, and it came back PINK! because they shaved her bald! It was awful. So, if you are just looking for food or supplies, this isn't a bad place to go, but I would discourage anyone from buying a live animal here. And, if you need help, be prepared to spend the day looking for someone! more

Shaved my poor schnauzer bald 9/14/2005

My grandparents took their westie here and she came back looking great, but cut a little short. So, I thought I'd give them a try for my schnauzer puppy's first professional grooming at 6 months old. I had kept up with her grooming fairly well, but she had some rawhide stuck in her whiskers and some in her paws from that morning. When I left her, the groomer and I agreed she would get a standard schnauzer cut (shaved back and head, with whiskers, eyebrows, and a skirt left long) for $30. When I picked her up, I didn't even recognize her! She had shaved her almost completely bald- all over! She had been black when I brought her in and now she was virtually pink. The only hair she left was on her chin and that hair still had rawhide stuck in it, as if she didn't bathe her. She charged me an extra $5 for "dematting". She hadn't been matted! A bath would have taken out the rawhide. I was dumbstruck and didn't know what to say. I just paid and took my poor "nakey" (as my 2 year old said) dog home. In retrospect, I should have refused to pay full price. more
