Great furnace repair work 12/10/2011

Had a great experience with Sunset. The technician was knowledgable, considerate, and obviously skilled. I wish I knew his name so I could publicly thank him. He answered all my questions and was willing to give explanations. I hired a different local heating and cooling company several years ago and it didn't go well. I was relieved when my experience with Sunset was so much better. I'll go back to Sunset the next time my furnace needs maintenance. more

lousy service 4/13/2011

We had used Sunset before to replace our old furnace and air conditioner and continued with maintenance contract -- but no more!!! We had them do new work on our remodel and their service was awful. They sent one poor untrained guy to do 3 days of installation (two people were required to do the work). Total days of installation and coming back to fix things were 11-12 days of our time and energy. The chimney leaked after the first rain, the on-call repairman couldn't fix it, They came out at least 5 times to fix the new fireplace which continually stopped working. It was eventually was fixed by the manufactures rep. Their service people had trouble reading the manuals and figuring out what to do. They cut incredibly large and totally unsightly and unnecessary holes in the drywall to get out the old fireplaces -- which we had to repair at our expense after being told ""we might lose a few tiles"". They made no attempt to address our concerns, would not call back and made no attempt to mitigate the whole situation which you would have thought they would with customers who have spent over $30,000 with them. Never use them!!! They will get no more of our business. more

Would recommend to anyone! 2/3/2011

Usually I'm not one to post reviews, but in this case, something should be said! My parents have used Sunset for years, so naturally, I called Sunset when my furnace went out. I have two small children, and I kind of panicked the weekend it stopped working. I called on a Sunday, and the dispatch was able to page the repair man and he called me immediately. He told me that he could come out however, there would be an ""after hours"" charge. I told him that I was already worried about the cost of the repair and that I could probably wait to call back Monday, during business hours. He asked for my address, and said that he would come out to bring me some space heaters for me and my children, until I could get an appointment! He made me feel like he really cared about us - and to me, that meant everything! I now know why my parents have trusted them for so many years. more

Con merchants..... 1/10/2009

I don't work for another heating company so I'm not trying to discredit the competition, rather I would hate anyone to suffer the same fate we did. Basically, Sunset Heating and Cooling have been to our house to ""fix"" our furnace numerous times. Every time they came, something different was wrong and something else needed replacing, which I get, things ware out. However, we recently found out that we paid over 3 times the amount for what it should have cost to fix a motor in the furnace and with the amount we've paid this company to date, we could have had a new furnace installed. You do what you have to do when you're in a fix and hope you can trust ""professionals"" when they come to your house to ""fix"" things. Very simply, do NOT trust Sunset Heating and Cooling, you will pay way over the odds for poor work. Pros: They seem like a reputable company Cons: They are not a reputable company more

    Company History:

Sunset has been serving Oregon Families Since 1922. Founder, Lloyd Miesen Sr., started out by hauling off saw dust from area saw mills to sell to local families to heat their houses with. Over the years, Sunset has seen many changes and made many number of transitions to stay current with the times. We've seen the heating source of choice go from wood to coal to heating oil and currently natural gas. Seeing this constant transition from one heat source to the next and Sunset Heating & Cooling is excited about looking to the future and offering the Lennox SunSource Solar Home Energy System. It's the next generation in home comfort systems.

Sunset Fuel was passed from Lloyd Miesen Sr. to his three sons - Lloyd Jr., Lee and Jerry. The three sons ran the company for many years until selling Sunset Fuel in 2004 to the General Manager, David Vernon. The name was changed from Sunset Fuel to Sunset Heating & Cooling but the face that Sunset has been providing area families with, quality heating and cooling products, has never changed.

So where will Sunset go in the future? Solar, wind, geothermal or something else entirely - who knows? What we do know is, Sunset has been there for generations of Oregon families and we'll be there for the next generation too!

Sunset also has a Service Department that can maintain or repair your furnace or air conditioner regardless the brand - we service them all! Our Energy Savings Plan even gives you discounts on service and priority treatment. Ask about signing up today.
