Sunset Acres Bed & Breakfast

I'm not going to be dishonest and pretend I am a dissatisfied customer, but I have had a very unpleasant experience with the owner of this B&B. So...I am taking the time to write this review as a warning to anybody who is considering to do business with Brenda. She posted an ad in Craigslist to sell a dining set. the picture showed four cute iron chairs w/ an iron and glass table. I called her and we chatted for awhile. She assured me it was a beautiful, quality set and I would not be disapointed. Sooo I made the 1hr 3min trip to her house in the middle of nowhere off a long gravel road. There is a reason why there are not many pictures of the house. It is not even cute. There is a nice gazebo, pond & some farm animals. The inside looked messy & cheap, not even remotely charming. I think the glowing reviews must come from family members. I was going to add friends, but I can't imagine this woman having any after meeting her. Anyways, I was shocked when she had 4 completly different & cheap iron chairs with stains on the cushions around the table. The cute chairs were in the corner. I said,""These aren't the chairs I came here to buy, I want the ones in the picture!"" I was shocked and almost in tears because of her rudeness, unapologetic attitude, and blatant lies. I was furious when I left her house but I had let it go. THEN I noticed she posted her ad again with a picture of the right chairs but stated that the cushions are free of stains. :( If you choose to do business with her be careful, & be aware she will flat out lie to you leaving you angry & very disappointed. more

We called on this place on our way back from St. Louis for a romantic Valentines getaway. The owner described exactly what we saw on the website. Once we took several wrong turns down the dark untraveled 5+ mile journey off I-70, we finally reached the place. We came in unpancked and she gave us a tour. During the tour I asked where the hot tub was, since this was one of the main reasons we wanted to stay here. The owner then said that it was broken. We were already there, so decided to make the best of it. We went downstairs to watch a movie in front of the fireplace, and instead had to watch TV with her and her family. It was totally uncomfortable. After retiring to bed, we had maybe 3 hours of sleep due to 2 cats running around the house and trying to get into our room, which one did in the middle of the night. In the morning, we left as soon as we could and when we mentioned our concerns and the fact that we only really was attracted to this place was because of the hot tub, the owner had a very matter of fact attitude and was not going to offer any discounts or anything. The old ""bait and switch"" came to mind. Had she told us on the phone on our way there that hot tub was not working, we would not have stayed here. Be very careful, this is a shady place. more

We stayed just last month. This is our 3rd B & B. Can't imagine going any where else but here from now on... Everything was perfect. The guest rooms, hostess, billards room were all enjoyed very much. And the food, 'WOW'. We ordered a candle light dinner; under the stars on the gazebo by candle light. She had white roses & about 100 candles burning as the sun set over the pond. Romantic jazz was playing. Never seen or heard of anything so perfect. The setting was amazing as well as the food!! Can't wait to go back. We enjoyed the fishing; the fainting goats & their new filly, Bella. We will probably go back to do their New Year's Eve Event. Can't wait to see how she tops this past visit!! Once you stay at Sunset Acres you will not want to go anywhere else!! Pros: Beautiful enviroment; relaxing; wonderful food; great hostess; ambience. Cons: n/a more

Sunset Acres B&B was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I went there to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The host was very friendly and the food was amazing. The breakfast was gourmet. Sooo Wonderful!!! The room we stayed in was very romantic and extremely clean. It was located in a quiet country setting, perfect for relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We will definately be back very soon. Pros: service, food, price more

Our stay was great. Food was excellent. The hosts are very nice people. We loved are theme room. The host had many surprises & treats for us. We felt very welcomed. Can't wait to go back this summer when the pool is warm and the gardens are in full bloom. Pros: great food, very freindly host, beautiful decor more
